South Atlantic Terrain Terrain Look and Feel
Iron Sights replied to Raz_Specter's topic in South Atlantic
I would say stick with improving what we have. I don’t have a problem with the map. I mean this is what was presented, I think it can be improved here and there, but I’m not at all complaining about it. -
Have you shut down the engine?
-
Yeah, same here in the mirrors and the pilot in the outside view. Strange bug that takes away from the enjoyment.
-
I think JDAM’s are coming, but not sure how far down the road it is. It has been mentioned as a work in progress and I think there is a mod work around.
-
I would suggest you download the A-4 Skyhawk module. It is free and is more like the F-4 in HUD symbology. It is also very well done for a free module. A decent HUD wasn’t really available until the A-7, which it is a shame the F-14 didn’t borrow from this. If you learn to fly and fight in the A-4 and take looks at the boat flying, you should have a pretty decent knowledge base to move to the F-4E. The procedures may not be exactly the same, but it should help. As for missile warning, that’s handled by the RWR.

Only thing I use half flaps for is approach. As I slow, I step to half first to maintain a bit more speed and when turning to final, put them to full. Not sure if that is the correct way, but it seems to help.

Have you tried lowering your graphic settings?

The WWll aircraft are a hodgepodge of mixed versions that don’t really match up in the conflict. I think it would be easy to add more versions to allow more realistic gameplay. The 109 should have been the G or E or maybe both. There should be some of the razorback aircraft like the 47. Also there needs to be more variety of modules to choose from and even more twin engine aircraft like the 38 or 110. Many of the planes that are in game should be updated. I know this is just wishful thinking, but it would be nice to see more types of aircraft. I know the La-7 is coming, the Hellcat and the Corsair but they will need a Zero at the least to fight, so that’s where we miss on the WWll aircraft. Just my 2 cents, but in my opinion the 190 A-8 needs a performance recheck because was a more formidable opponent then what we have now.

Well done Heatblur, well done. -
A NEW DLC CAMPAIGN FOR THE Mi-8?
Iron Sights replied to CHPL's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Yeah, I would like a mix of combat and maybe some rescue and general tasks. Maybe Syria or the Sinai, to make it more interesting. -
Huey or Gazelle for learning to fly a helicopter?
Iron Sights replied to The_Chugster's topic in DCS 2.9
I feel like I learned the most with the Mi-8. While the startup is a bit overwhelming at first, you learn it fairly quickly. The flight model is well done, so you learn how to handle a helicopter better. While the Huey is a close second on this, the Hip is the one I stuck with until I could fly it well. After that, all others just seemed to make more sense to me, when flying them. While the Apache is complex as well, I think it’s easier to fly. The KA-50 is the easiest to fly in my opinion of all with the Mi-24 being the hardest in my book. The Gazelle is smaller and lighter and still being tuned after the FM change, so would not advise that one for basic fundamentals. -
Nothing in the change log on this.

I did notice the difference, but did not test it until I ran out. I am enjoying the new two seater. Yet to try out the gun pods , but it’s coming soon. Keep up the good work.
-
Yeah, I noted this one too. But it works if it’s hot started, strange.
-
Sinai map is one of my favorites. I love the mixes of terrain. Best new map release so far in my opinion. Keep up the good work.
-
Well, I agree it looks great as well, but like the A-10 that has the newer look, if you want. I fly both in the A-10, but sometimes when I train I use the newer cockpit just to make it easier to find things.
-
I’m sure this has been reported, but I can confirm there is color blur or ghosting with the lights in external view on the aircraft. I know you guys are working on resolving issues, so I thought it worth it to add this. Otherwise, it’s a huge improvement. Thanks for all you do ED, one step closer to realism.

Chuck’s guides has some excellent information for you to use to train. May be a while before you see anymore in game training missions.

cannot reproduce Random Engine Flameout
Iron Sights replied to MoppleTheWhale42's topic in Bugs and Problems
One thing I did find is running negative G’s can cause a flameout. Seems like about 10 seconds, so you would have to be pushing it. Just thought it was worth adding. -
cannot reproduce Random Engine Flameout
Iron Sights replied to MoppleTheWhale42's topic in Bugs and Problems
I’ve heard of this before, but I don’t know why either. I have not been able to get this to happen, other than when random failures were on and it seems the engine would always be the failure. -
I think are three campaigns in the works. However, I agree, I found it hard to believe just RedFlag, which I have, for the 16.

Potential IFF transponder functionality
Iron Sights replied to HHHHHHHHHHH's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
I think the F-1 can be interrogated for IFF, but cannot identity IFF returns from friendly aircraft. You can turn it on, but I think most aircraft IFF in DCS anyway, whether it’s on or off. -
I think they modeled the hooks for accuracy to actual module. With that said I think one day arresting gear working on the fields may be a thing. I will say it’s a long way off, if ever. To me not the biggest priority, given some of updates I would like to see come first.
