  1. You can do this with regular part of coalition in zone trigger. You just need to create trigger zone around desired unit and link it using "link to unit" option. This way, trigger zone will retain its relative position vs unit it is linked to even if unit moves or changes direction.
  2. Possible solution might be: 1. Set units ROE to weapons hold 2. Create trigger zone with desired radius attached to that unit 3. Add trigger to change ROE to weapons free when part of enemy coalition is within this zone It is cumbersome and more of a walk-around solution working till first engagement, but still you might find it useful. A robust SAM-like option to determine engagement distance would be nice for sure.
  3. R-73 is a IR guided missile, so Hornet has no idea it has been launched at you. Hornet does not have MWS (Missile Warning System) which could detect missile launch in your vicinity. RWR can detect radar emissions, but as R-73 is a Fox2 it will not be detected.
  4. When you create trigger zone, just enable "Link to unit" box and choose to which unit this zone is supposed to be linked. When unit moves, so does the zone keeping its relative position vs. unit it is linked to.
  5. I didn't damaged the landing gear even once after the update, despite making a lot of carrier and land base landings. Just keep your gross weight and decent rate in limits.
  6. As far as i remember from gliders, flaring was generally rising your nose to touchdown attitude just above the ground level to minimize descent or even stop it. Then your speed will slowly bleed out and you would remain in this configuration with aim to reach stall speed at the exact moment when your wheels touch the ground.
  7. Also AIM-9X has slightly different tones than the older variants.
  8. Why is your speedbreak not retracted?
  9. If you are talking about "Bitching Betty" recordings, they are associated with specific events or components issues, and in the NATOPS Pocket checklist they are marked by quote marks like "Flight Controls, Flight Controls" or "Bingo, Bingo" etc. If what you have in mind are all other beeps and didles than they can be system specific. For example, stall warning will have low tone repeatable "Beeps" together with flashing of red light in the landing gear handle, RWR will have single or repeatable beeps depending on what kind of radar it is and if its tracking or actively guiding missiles on you . You can find details on RWR sounds in Chucks Guide for F/A-18C or user manual for Hornet provided with module. As a rule of a thumb: the louder and faster repeating the sound is, in more trouble you are.
  10. Bottom of your left DDI is a default place where all "Caution" and "Advisory" codes will be displayed if needed. If you want to know which malfunction or condition will trigger what, you can search for "A1-FA18AC-NFM-500 NATOPS POCKET CHECKLIST" on the internet. There is a list of all things that can go wrong, how the jet will tell you about them and what you should do to make it to the supper in one piece ;).
  11. By even load do you also mean stations 4 and 6 (cheek stations)? If you have targeting pod on one and missile on the other it will be enough to make small unbalance.
  12. With your original triggers, tanker would activate in the exact moment, when you would leave the moving zone of the carrier. As if you start on the boat, you already meet conditions of trigger 2 (inside moving zone). When you take off and fly outside of moving zone, you activate trigger 1 and at that point flag 1 has already value of 2. So in order for your triggers to work i think you should set condtion to 3. Once /flag 1 value "3" / activate unit What Druid proposes is better, for it contains additional conditions that make sure it will not happen to early. I personally use simple "once / time is more xxx / activate tanker" or i provide players radio menu item to call for recovery tanker, when needed" 1. Once / time is more xxx / add radio item "request recovery tanker" (flag 1) 2. Once / Flag 1 is true / activate tanker and remove radio item "request recovery tanker"
  13. I have read somewhere, that use of airbrake is not recommended on F/A-18 on landing, as it disturbs the air flow in the vicinity of rudders making them far less effective. And when the speed drops to values when you don't need rudder, than it is small enough that airbrake will not help much.
  14. Yes i know that on deck, carrier position, heading and velocity is provided via radio link or by cable or is put in manually. I was rather asking regarding stored heading option if it is valid on carrier deck, as jets are moved around a lot between shutdown and subsequent start up.
  15. As far as i remember, it allows for quicker alignment if jet position was updated after previous landing prior to engines shut down, and jet was not moved since than. It allows for quick alignment as jet "remembers" at what position and heading it was shut down and does not have to figure that out during subsequent start up. However if i recall correctly there was a limitation, that if stored heading fast alignment was used, next startup will require full alignment procedure. I would have a question how or if, this option is valid with operations from aircraft carriers?
  16. Ad.1 NCTR works only in STT and nose or tail aspect so that radar can see either compressor or turbine blades of the enemies jet engine. Ad.2 Effective range depends on many aspects, including speed, altitude, aspect and type of manouvering of both you and the enemy. If you are both low, fast and enemy is running away from you, 8nm might be a border line of effective shot. The other way around, if you are high, fast and he is rushing towards you... than even 25-28 nm shot might force him to defend.
  17. That is the reason of your problems. Tensioned muscles cause you to overcorrect and induce oscillations which get bigger with each subsequent overreaction driving you finally to break connection with the basket as with big tension it is very hard to make small and smooth inputs. You need to force your muscles to relax on both stick and throttle, and do it even several times during whole procedure. I still tend to tension up unwillingly sometimes during refueling and that is when it gets harder to stay in position, but faster i react by relaxing, the faster everything becomes easier to control.
  18. It does not matter that you have dropped other stores. You need to de-select them on stores page, and than select gun. Otherwise its just like rob10 said - you are in gun hot mode, but with gun bore sight only, no CCIP.
  19. Have you tried to TDC depress while designating target with ATFLIR?
  20. You can force CCIP mode with target designated. I am not sure if it is possible in real life, but in DCS after designating target with TPOD, just go to stores page, and force bomb delivery mode to CCIP. You will retain designation diamond and get your CCIP symbology back on the HUD. But just as Swift said - no point in doing so. If you have designation, use AUTO, its more accurate.
  21. Looks like its almost spot on besides low altitude, where difference is more than 25%. Perhaps it could be tuned as well.
  22. So both topics: SLAM being not precise and SLAM being pinpoint precise are marked "correct as is" ?
  23. On Engine DDI page (SUPT/ENG) you will find "INLET TEMP" row indicating temperature at engine intake. While you are airborne and your pitot heat switch is in AUTO position, pitot, static and AoA probes heating will be automatically on, unless there is a malfuncion of WoW system. For engine heat, as Foka said, you do not need to put it on unless you receive INLET ICE caution or you are about to climb through icing conditions.
  24. Interesting is, why there are gaps between 44000 and 45000 and between 48000 and 49000. Like when you are at 44600. You are not less then 44000 but not 45000 yet...
