  1. I wouldn’t bring it up then. This is just arguing over alternative history. The Cold War never turned hot in real life and arguing if a fictional scenario would have happed in say 1982 or 1987 or whatever is kinda moot. You’re unlikely to get every single module to meet at the same year.
  2. Rafale would be cool. Years ago there was a Rafale sim being developed by an engineer who worked on the real thing. Ended up running into licensing issues but it was supported by the French navy who planned to use it as a training sim. interview here. https://web.archive.org/web/20070324213332/http://www.france-simulation.com/articles/interview/interview_6.htm I have the 70 some page manual for the sim. Also have a thesis on the M88 with thrust curves, a technical book on the Rafale’s carrier qualification and tons of what I guess are white papers on the aircraft’s radar, mission computer, and other systems.
  3. They did take 52 AMRAAM to the gulf. The 33rd carried them for scud hunting. Initially they were going to leave them at home till the bugs worked out but brought (I guess AMRAAM has superior qualities to Sparrow against ballistic missiles?) apparently they always intended to be able to use the LRIP missiles if the need arose. https://books.google.com/books?id=HqLVPFYIOJMC&pg=PA984&dq=amraam+lrip&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi3tpyD_9CDAxVKFjQIHQ6NCA8Q6AF6BAgPEAM#v=onepage&q=amraam lrip&f=false while it seems the missile deficiencies proved to not be a problem in actual practice. https://books.google.com/books?id=cNTioltU3N4C&pg=PA430&dq=amraam+carry+gulf+war&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiaxZrIgdGDAxU5GTQIHedZADQQ6AF6BAgGEAM#v=onepage&q=amraam carry gulf war&f=false F-15 with AIM-120 in desert storm https://www.defensemedianetwork.com/stories/f-15-eagles-were-the-deadliest-birds-of-desert-storm/
  4. Correct the 33rd fighter wing was carrying AIM-120 from at least 1989 and they were delivered in 1988 https://nara.getarchive.net/media/a-33rd-tactical-fighter-wing-f-15c-eagle-aircraft-makes-its-landing-approach-052343 https://picryl.com/media/a-33rd-tactical-fighter-wing-f-15c-eagle-aircraft-passes-along-the-coast-during-6e48c5 https://nara.getarchive.net/media/a-33rd-tactical-fighter-wing-f-15c-eagle-aircraft-pulls-into-a-climb-during-3b7ff0 https://www.alamy.com/a-33rd-tactical-fighter-wing-f-15c-eagle-aircraft-banks-into-a-turn-during-a-flight-out-of-eglin-air-force-base-fla-the-aircraft-is-carrying-two-aim-9-sidewinder-missiles-on-each-wing-and-four-aim-120-advanced-medium-range-air-to-air-missiles-amraams-on-its-fuselage-weapons-stations-country-gulf-of-mexico-image504289865.html https://books.google.com/books?id=PWMFAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA836&dq=33rd+fighter+wing+amraam+ 1989&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjpqaDQ5NCDAxW-LFkFHfSjBvkQ6AF6BAgOEAM#v=onepage&q=33rd fighter wing amraam 1989&f=false
  5. Yes! Very pleased to see that
  6. Makes sense, nothings wrong with it and there is no more fidelity to be gained. If they ever need to adjust one it would be bad if they couldn’t automatically adjust the other.
  7. As realistic radar modeling is becoming the norm in DCS, first with Razbam’s Mirage 2000 and F-15E and now with Heatblur’s F-4, I thought the Fulcrum would be a great opportunity for ED to join in. The Fulcrum’s radar is well documented and ED has SME on staff here is a lecture series from Ukraine’s national Aerospace University and a radar book that I believe ED has used before. https://studfiles.net/nau/145/folder:11012/#5383849 https://studfiles.net/preview/5383872/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2378427/ Some other potential sources are the US National Air and Space Intelligence Center which recovered an Iraqi export standard N019 at the end of the Gulf War (HAVE NOSE) and AFOTEC which until recently operated ex Moldovan MiG-29 9.13 inherited from the USSR.

  9. So awhile ago I came across this 1995 AWST article That’s a pretty interesting claim. While most of the J-10 ended up using domestic systems I was curious about the MFD. so I looked up the Chilean F-5 Tiger III, sure enough. pretty similar to the JF-17? Apparently this was a risk reduction decision as China had never developed an MFD for a fighter aircraft and I.A.I. was staffed by combat veterans who knew what they wanted in a man machine interface. two separate J-10 crash hud videos, pretty much the same as the JF-17 and F-5EIII https://alert5.com/2020/10/17/hud-footage-from-j-10-that-crashed-in-guilin-last-month/ https://m.bilibili.com/video/BV1ws411r7sV but while the JF-17/J-10B/C/CE use an evolved MFD system with large LCD flat screens, color, and custom changes. The J-10A and F-5EIII seem to even use the same hardware and CRT MFDs
  10. https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/MiG-25PD Flight and Combat Employment Training Manual-OCR.pdf Iraqi PD manual 1980. Actually modestly superior to Soviet PD with addition of SPO-15 and KDS-155.

Несколько месяцев назад я отправил письмо в ВВС США по поводу молдавских 9.13, которые они приобрели в 1997 году. Если они ответят положительно, заинтересуется ли ED?

  14. http://urbanpk.com/pakdef/pakmilitary/airforce/ac/f7pg.htm I found this article on the flight test program. It seems like an beast.
  15. Thank you! If I’m honest to date I mostly focused on the J-8 and didn’t think that the J-7 anything more than a mig-21 clone. I only recently discovered how substantially the later models were improved and really have taken a look at them to my surprise.
  16. Really neat! I only recently found out about the late model J-7 and their increased maneuverability. Just how mobile are they? Can they keep up with more modern jets.
  17. How large is the Antenna for the APG-66 used by the J-8? the APG-66 used by the F-16, F-4EJ Kai, HAWK 200, and A-4 all have different antenna to fit the nose of their fighters. What is the case for the J-8 PP?
  18. https://web.archive.org/web/20060512131657/http://www.irkut.com/en/news/index.php?id65=127 The first two batches had more limited capabilities. Think it might be possible to make the jump to official module developing one of them?
  19. Link?
  20. I’d killed for a USEA map with a dynamic campaign lol.
  21. You’re not going to answer a business case on the forums. I’m sure the majority of the people who buy modules never have even posted here. ED I imagine has their own method of getting that sort of data.
  22. None of the A B C D or E versions of the Eagle use fly by wire, only the very latest versions derived from QA have fly by wire. An A would probably feel similar to the FC3 C but with some differences because of different engines and weight.
  23. Why not just get a team together and make an F-15C. It’s not like documentation is hard to come by.
  24. The US Air Force owns an operates over a dozen Mig-29 9-13. The only piece missing is the radar for the full S https://dod.defense.gov/OIR/gallery/igphoto/2001237536/ Apparently the Smithsonian has AM-501072-01: MiG MiG-29SE Fulcrum-C [Documents maybe something with the radar modes we need?
