I really hate the word "unfair". People never talk about what´s unfair when they benefit from something, only when they see someone else get a little bit of something they didn´t. It´s basically the word for jealousy. How is it unfair though? People who bought the Normandy 1 map, have had the access to use it.. why that doesn´t count? And if it´s not fair.. why should it be fair? The only thing to consider for the devs is to make a decision regarding a balance between what customers are willing to pay, and getting compensated properly for their work. They aren´t doing it for charity. It´s actual work, a lot of it.

It´s really hard to see how this is good news or helping the ww2 content take a step forward to become more usable. It could eaasily become the opposite, dividing the player base. I bet most servers choose to run The Channel still anyway since it offers the detailed area to faster pvp. Out of all the possible options for a ww2 map.. feeling quite puzzled.

What do you want to see most in DCS World?
Tenebrae Aeternae replied to Wags's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Better ground units damage model, especially infantry. Would make some of the chopper stuff way more enjoyable. -
Some fictional, but still plausible designs
Tenebrae Aeternae replied to Tank50us's topic in DCS Core Wish List
While i can easily understand the idea, and why we aren't limited in realms of possibilities because it's a videogame after all.. somehow it just still seems wrong when talking about DCS. On the fence, kinda. Minimum requirement should be at least the ability to limit servers to purely historical gear. Let's add, there's so much historical stuff missing and needed too, so i guess i'd rather see the effort and resorces used towards those instead. -
Wishlist for the next helicopter after AH64D

Chinook or little bird. -
Exactly. Choppers can get really intimate with the enemies, and can react to quickly changing/surprising situations well. Operating so close to friendly troops that real care and presence of mind is required is just fun. Already had some of that few times with Huey and i liked it very much. Doing enough of shooting at waypoints in jets already, now i wanna get my hands dirty..

Anything from Ed Macys books, they sound like load of fun.

I could do it myself actually and create custom functions to be binded, but quite frankly just can't be arsed anymore. I did solve some issues by myself for a while until my module list got just too big for that. 3-way toggles and toggle off positions are supported only for a fraction of functions that needs them. Hornet is a good example. It has a 3-position toggle for flaps. Hotas warthog controller has one aswell, but can you map it by default? No! You can after you write few lines of code to make the flaps use the middle "off" position as a function.

We Want To Hear Your Ideas For A New Map In DCS!

Afghanistan with complimentary ground force pack would equal loads of fun times to be had in Apache. -
Being rude is one thing, but being willing to give the (obviously very frustrated) end user a functional product only if he agrees to alter his reviews is another. Both parties are in the wrong here, but only one of them payed money expecting in return functional goods that should be and work as advertised. Ok mistakes happen i get that, but publishing that picture will propably do far more harm than few bad reviews. After seeing that picture, i cannot help but to think how many people have been supressed with that semi-extortion tactic? Most would no doubt take that deal in a heartbeat. You know, just to get a working product so they can forget stressing about it.

Holy crap, am i really reading this right? Someone has a disastrous experience with a product, and the only way to get it properly sorted is to not tell anyone about the issues? Surely that´s borderline illegal?
-
Could have been just the Win 11 issues with AMD cpus. I think it got sorted, but can´t remember for sure. There´s no real need to swap until DX12 ultimate and proper use for direct storage is a thing anyway. Windows 11 doesn´t really offer anything that new so far apart from some qol stuff. I´ve had it from the first moment it came available for dev preview and haven´t had much issues at all (if any). I might have been just lucky. Performance is about the same, or even worse for the unlucky ones, so there´s that too..

stats are low for WWII birds.

The "mark your position on a kneeboard" is there already. -
Is there some kind of demo or try-out day for helicopters?
Tenebrae Aeternae replied to JetCat's topic in DCS: AH-64D
I started with the Huey. It´s a beautiful chopper to get the butt-feeling for helos. After you have learned to fly that thing, you will have a really good natural sense for the inputs and it´s really easy to hop in anything. On top the systems are really easy to learn so you really get to focus mainly on the flying. -
I´ve had no issues with Track iR using Windows 11, but maybe it´s because i have a decent processor and enough ram. I´m fairly sure you tried this, but did you try changing gaming mode, and hardware accelerated gpu scheduling settings?

What's wrong with the Jug, why so little interest ?
Tenebrae Aeternae replied to Hueyman's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
In the end of the day, warbirds aren't that different from eachother. I mean sure, they have a bit different characteristics and system operate a bit differently..but it's not that major. Propably the reason why Mosquito got so much attention, it's something properly different from other warbirds. That's my reason anyway for not buying it. I wouldn't mind getting a bomber with multicrew as the next addition for the era.. would be an instabuy. -
I think it´s just a bunch of people with everything that comes with it. There are far more crappy people around than some would like to think, usually they just hide in plain sight. Different matter when it comes to the anonymous internet. People generally are mostly interested in themselves, and their immediate convenience. Anything else often comes second, or tenth, or not at all.

Warthog profiles for Huey and Gazelle choppers, Non-TARGET
Tenebrae Aeternae replied to jackd's topic in General Tutorials
Yeah it's actually quite common thing that people jump from planes to choppers and don't realise how humongously different they are. You'll get there! Choppers are really fun and you get a whole new perspective to the maps that way. I've found that in many sims choppers are an afterthought more or less. Even in X-Plane 11 (which i adore) only chopper that really impressed me with flight model has been 3rd party SA 315B Lama. DCS is different. If you've read a book called chickenhawk, you'll see that the learning curve of Huey is quite close to real thing. If you haven't, highly recommended. "So it's true what they say, kid. You're a natural" "But i was all over the field!" "Don't worry, we just move to smaller and smaller fields" -
Warthog profiles for Huey and Gazelle choppers, Non-TARGET
Tenebrae Aeternae replied to jackd's topic in General Tutorials
Holy crap Batman! I think we might have a case of "What anti-torgue?" here. You really can´t fly choppers without pedals or at least some way to very accurately control the Anti-torque, forget whatever you know about rudder in planes immediately! I wouldn´t even dream of using the slew axis of Warthog Hotas.. not gonna work out. The moments when your pedals are exactly center in a chopper are few and far between. Usually only when cruising with enough speed and even then it´s rarely the most efficient manner of flight. -
