It was frustrating when you could not hide behind stuff and AI could shoot through trees... This is a whole new experience now. Actually 2.5 is why I got back into the Ka-50.

But why then would my very next Vikhr shot guide properly?

I'm wondering if this "Vikhr gone stupid" problem is related to the new trees? Or is it just is a simulated random failure of the missile?

Personally don't need haptic feedback, just need gloves. (wireless)

IMO if "Force IPD Distance" were renamed to "Force World Scale" it would be much more intuitive as to what it is we are adjusting with this setting. It is NOT the same thing as the IPD we set on the Rift with the slider...

I have flown missions with higher cloud cover. While I was flying clear of cloud my engine RPM/power dropped significantly. To the point i had to land... I turned on rotor and engine anti-ice and shortly thereafter power was restored and back in business sending weapons down range!

Turn on rotor deicing & engine ice protection. Pitot heaters should be on also... 1. Rotor de-icing system switch. Placing this switch in the up position will warm the rotor blades to the point that it prevents icing. If ice does develop on the rotor blades, they will dramatically lose lift generating capability. It is always best to turn this on when operating in cold air. [LALT + LCTRL + LSHIFT + S] 2. Engines de-icing/dust-protection systems switch. To prevent ice from forming in the engine intakes, place this switch in the up position. This will warm the air intake manifolds and prevent ice from forming in cold conditions. If ice forms, the flow of air to the engines will be impeded. The system will also prevent dust build-up in dusty conditions. [LALT + I]

Perhaps this issue with Shkval locking parameters in 2.5 will get some attention from ED in the future. Ideally variables such as lighting, time of day, atmospheric conditions such as cloud, precipitation or smoke particulate should impact the locking range of the optical system. However I would think it might be more realistic and enjoyable to have the sim look at more of the variables before giving a yea or nay to Shkval lock on. My 2.5 cents worth. Cheers :pilotfly:

Thanks for that info Dugong. Seems midday is the time to go hunting with the Ka-50. Night, early morning, or late day missions would seem to be out of the question if you want the longer reach of the Vikhr. Or get good with concealment, cannon and rockets I suppose...;) Cheers,

Testing max lock ranges with the Shkval. 2.5.0 Caucasus. Target is a Leopard tank. Summer. No trees around the tank. Clear skies. No precipitation. Narrow FOV. The only thing I adjusted was the time of day. 0600 unable to obtain lock. 0700 lock at 3.5 km 0800 lock at 8.2 km 1200 lock at 9.2 km

Flappie I thank you, and at laugh at myself!! :doh: After reading your post I opened my case and found the same thing! Swapped it and it has now gone from x8 to x16. I stuck the card in the wrong PCIe slot due to issue fitting it into the x16 slot. Assumed they were the same... double DOH! After adjusting cables etc. was able to get it fixed. I'm using 2.5 and able to lock on stationary and moving targets. Weird.

With the release of 2.5 and the current sale on the Choppers, I am getting back into the KA-50 after a bunch of years. Loving the Black Shark in VR. Loving the new terrain and trees and the fact that you can now hide behind them. Hunting with the BS has never been this good. Thanks for this Alpenwolf! Your method is working for me after MANY attempts to update to 2.5 via CMD/powershell (which all failed). Now updating 2.2 to 2.5! :pilotfly:
