  1. Grozny would add alot of scenario for the sim
  2. ED could release a "Cloud Patch" and chance's are, that most of the community if not the "whole" will be super happy. Just like it happen with 2.5. But most of us do understand that you folks need time to get the things done properly
  3. would it fit the M134D too ? Might bot be "as realistic" but it will still look way better than what we got now
  4. I'd guess people like you are the main reason they might prefer not answering the community. Is F18 perfect, no. Is DCS perfect no. Are they making significant progress ? Yes, we saw a huge push on F18 lately. Does that allow people to do back-seat management of a company nor the right to be salty cause that's not the way they would like it to be ? Plain answer is no. I mean, they are humans, they have limited ressources, they are also limited by alot of ITAR regulated items, classification, and on top of that, there is the salty people who complain and over estimate their "right to be answered when they ask for". Give it time, it's all they need.
  5. In GMT mode, you need to press Sensor Select Switch in the direction of the DDI your radar is on to lock a brick, if you do TDC/Depress you'll only create a "TGT point" not lock the brick itself. But even that will slave your TGP to the TGT Pt. So is your FLIR "ON" on the right console ? Is your FLIR in AG / AA mode before you create a target ? Dont forget the laser switch on the right console too, just sayin' in case.
  6. Honestly, i fly DCS since A10C beta in 2010 and to this day, i still have sweety hands whenever i do AAR, either on A10C/2, FA18C nor the AV8B NA. AAR in DCS is about two thing IMHO, getting use to very close formation and having self control over yourself. It's "scary", "stressing", "frustrating", but at the end of the day, it is about controling those feeling (and obviously the plane) and getting into the proper position for the proper amount of time.
  7. I'm a bit into the same situation, play DCS for over a decade (OMG it make me feel so old in an instant), focused almost exclusively on ground pounding with A10C, AV8B and F18C. Depending on the situation, FCS Over ride button comes handy, you point the nose and burst, but you might lose alot of energy depending of the opening stage that lead to you over riding FCS. For you're scenario, i'll go afterburner, radar lock and in the very very begining of the merge i'll try to shoot it down before we get into the circle. (In other word as he's racing towards me, i'll try to shoot before we start dogfighting) If it didnot work, i'll check what the AI does act accordingly. Depending what i'm fighting too. I wont go into a turn rate fight with an F16 (ex). There is plenty of content maker (Growling Sidewinders to name one) that make video braking down dogfight, explaining why they turn that way instead of the other, the term etc. It help alot, also, keep in mind that AI dosent follow the same "flight logic" as client does in DCS, it might do things that you cannot do in the same craft.
  8. So, here a noobish question, can you drawn you're engines if you pass trought thick clouds ? I know that aircraft engine can digest "alot" of water, but is there a certain limit and if so, would it be represented on the F18 ?
  9. Wouldnot it be only in A10C2 module ?
  10. They went trought several update and most likely got "canadianized" as hell and have nothing to see with either the A nor the C version. And they will once again be... "Among the upgrades included in this potential package: 50 Sidewinder AIM-9X Block II tactical missiles; 38 APG-79(V)4 active electronically scanned array radars; 38 APG-79(V)4 AESA radar A1 kits; 46 F/A-18A wide-band RADOMEs; upgrades to the Advanced Distributed Combat Training System; and technical assistance to support the upgraded jets." https://www.defensenews.com/global/the-americas/2020/06/16/canadian-cf-18-upgrade-package-okd-by-us/
  11. IIRC only Israel and Japanese AH64 are "wired" for it, but i might be wrong. But, i also recall reading somewhere about an AH64 taking down a plane with hellfire, just can't find a source right now... So here we go, on may 24 2001, an israeli AH64D shoot down a Cessna 152 with hellfire, they also take down an iranian *RQ170 copy* in 2018.
  12. Honestly i think we should be able to either align the HMD ourselves or make it align with HUD by default cause it is painfully akward now to use. The way DCS standart cam is kinda making us using the upper half of the screen as "look outside" area, with the HMD that offset, whenever you look outside, using that upper half of the screen cause you're so used to due to the cam being setup that way for severals years on several if not all modules, it feel unalign and akward. A simple option to align it to our liking would fix this and probably make it more enjoyable for TIR user.
  13. This topic land-slided alot more than i expected. My whole point here is that it can be carry by the plane so why not use it ? As many pointed out, it could be lock behind "year restriction" just like GPS is in-game. On the other end, i could easily arge that the "this wont fit on an airframe" argument with the fact that it dosent matter what the "OEM original specs" are if you consider that they will add anything to anything to sold anything. Indian SU30MKI carry LITENING POD, is to me a good example that IRL, this whole logic dont stand the test of lucrative contracts. https://thaimilitaryandasianregion.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/sukhoi-30-mkis-iafs-bet.jpg?w=624 Or that some weapon require no modification to the airframe, but this have been pointed out already. I understand both point here actually, those who said it shouldnot, and those who said it should. I think that we can all agreed that being the less restrictive possible and allowing people to choose if they use it or not cover the whole community. You're hardcore-year-exclusive-etc-fan, then you can do it. You're more of an hardcore-not-stuck-in-time-etc-fan, then you can do it. So both enjoy the game at their most, it provide additionnal tool in the sandbox, simple as that.
  14. Some "hardcore simers" might tear they shirt a part, like they did with the BRU-55A (the "smart rack" for JDAM) even tough' they could just not use it and deny it on their server :) IMHO i think we should have it since it was used by the planes but that still just an opinion.
  15. With the upcoming GBU-54 LJDAM for A10C II, will it be port to F/A18C at the same time ? :) Might be "too wishfull" but it's worth asking :p
  16. I know how leager work, "been there done that" but, it was only to increase the immersion on my syrian map. I'll look into that MOD since it dosent seems to have the issue the ED FARP have (Like they then to put themselve levels even tought they insta-form hills :noexpression:) as you said. Thanks for all replies. :book:
  17. Thanks for your answers but this is not what i want to do. I wanted to create a farp without actualy having to put one in the editor (that being the one from ED nor Mods'). Like to make a Leager in the middle of the desert to refule the helo. I guess its not possible without an actual "farp" object, i guess.
  18. Hello gents, i have a quick question, is there anyway to create a forward rearming / fueling point without putting an actual "FARP" in the editor ? I've read on the viggen forum that you have to name them "groundcrew" but whenever i load the mission, the menu is there but there is no action taken. I have an humvee, three M818, one POD-truck (the HEMTT) and one TFFT, my helo is closer than 150m, so what am i doing wrong ? Is it a VIGGEN only fonction ? Does it need specific script or something ? :helpsmilie::music_whistling:
  19. You would be surprised to learn their is plentyfull of situation armed forces can put you in with bad gears :megalol:
  20. TBH, i think those who developp this sim should have more recognition. I mean, the community is always there to quick-draw and point out things that need to be fix, updated or whatever. Is DCS perfect ? Nope, but as you said it improve quite well over the years. I personnally feel that the weather is the "biggest leap forward" DCS need, followed by AI driven ground ops (Dynamic Cam.). Great news is that both are worked on' :)
  21. It havent yet, but will soon (soon in the military is between "in two weeks nor in two decade"). So i guess the official answer is "no it wont". No SDB neither, so i guess wont we have the latest Suite, will buy and fly it anyway...
  22. Well, title says it all, look like the pod made it short of the list wich is kinda sad honestly. Would it make its way or its totaly out of question ?
