  1. 1.) You can approximate the FOV but you just can't account for the eye and brain capabilities of instant focus, movement detection, peripheral vision etc. Just set what feels right for you. 2.) Which is why combat pilots have carried binoculars since WW1.
  2. Depends on the command you used. If you just rolled back an open beta you would still be open beta. DCS_updater.exe update @release DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta
  3. Please describe your fondest memory of flying the P-47? Please describe your scariest moment flying the P-47? How much heavier are the stick, and pedals to move, compared to other planes of the era you have flown, if at all?
  4. There's no switch you can flip to make the AI do this. You would have to build it into the mission with triggers playing sound files on specific frequencies, etc. You would have to set it all up in the editor for the mission. I'm sure they could code in a system like that if they wanted to, but I don't think anything like this is in the pipeline.
  5. Sound files can be added in the mission builder to be triggered many ways. They can be linked to radio frequencies if desired. You can build a playlist F10 menu, etc. However if you do this sort of thing, just be aware of the file sizes. If your adding them into a mission it will become very large and slow to load in MP. The F-14 and AJS-37 both have an in pit Walkman you can play. You can change the files.
  6. On the overhead panel there are left and right engine power limit warning lights. You need to look at them anytime you change power as well as a regular part of your cockpit sweep. If they are on, you are killing your engines. You must back off until the lights go out. If you follow this rule you will never kill your engines.
  7. You may want to post a pic of your dcs setting screen. Use flat shadows.
  8. I found when starting out a fairly high curve was good, 30... As time went on I lowered it, because the movement required for a controlled reaction was too much. I still fly it with 20, for a desktop stick. I always leave saturation at 100 so I have the full range.
  9. The community just beat them down hard over bugs in open beta releases instead of just staying on stable, so updates are about to slow down. Closed testing takes time. Hopefully a temporary lag.
  10. Make sure you close the cowl before a dive. This is a known cause of buffeting.
  11. Thanks for keeping it going and improving it heclak! With the P-47 out now, ED added their own an-m65. So the A-4 version now throws impure client errors when loading it on the 47 in MP.
  12. The original un-boxing video.
  13. Did it ever? There have always been some search radars it doesn't lock.
  14. Yeah, you were hitting some high G's.
  15. Another will be the F-8, eventually. Community A-4. They are really interceptors. A few escorted B-52's.
  16. Uh, for the record, the 262 was in service months before the 109-K4. It fits well within our late war plane set.
  17. 1. Agree. 2. Maybe Rio/Gunner only, no piloting. 3. IMHO they did it the right way. Don't tie it to anything else. 4. I don't think it's viable.
  18. Did you buy it on this site? It should be instant.
  19. I ran the mission to see what would happen. It crashed on me also. It might not be specific to you. I was able to make multiple hot passes before it tanked. Somebody reading this, with some time to spare, run this mission and see if crashes on you. This line is in both logs before the crash: WARNING EFFECTS2: BowwaveEmitter: unknown parameter
  20. Go read it again. The standalone is a full month starting the 19th of April. The Steam free event ended May 3rd, though a 50% sale runs from the 13th to the 27th.
  21. You didn't find an all encompassing guide because there isn't one. If all you really want are some A-10 pages, many already exist. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2875049/ for example. Google will find you many, many more. If you want to learn how it works search, and read through the kneeboard threads. While the basics are simple, it's far too complex for anyone to explain it all in a quick little post.
  22. With all the incoming fire they are taking over the 256 merge, I suspect they are holding back future plane announcements as to not further enrage the masses. The 262 was in works already though, and was part of the original KS plane list.
