Quick question to developers... I dont know if it has been asked already but i couldnt find it... What are the advantages with DCS A10 running in 64bit as opposed to 32bit mode?
-
Heh, I saw the ACMI too, even though that 77 didnt hit you, it wasnt looking good for you from 10km when i fired it, so diving into the ground seems just about the best that could have happened for you (if one can say that, lol) at that speed and closure... So looks like your wish did come true... albeit indirectly... :P Anyway the stats have still some things to iron out, for example i got a crash recorded for some odd reason, even though i landed on a road right at majkop city due to no fuel... etc. FC2 presents many stats challenges and basically its just never gonna be as accurate as FC1 stats due to so many variables... the odd mistake will creep in here and there...

^^ Frosties post on top pretty much sums up my argument... Stats aside, we are discussing proximity hits, and that is exactly when the TNT numbers computed in the game will matter... The 120 wins hands down as shown by the numbers posted above... directional warhead or not, the game takes it as just pure TNT power due to its simple logic (which does not correspond to RL)... This is where the dramatic change from FC1 to FC2 takes place (combined with the fuze range of 120). I really dont see an argument here... its a no brainer. 77 > 38! a ratio more than 2:1... while in RL its exactly the opposite... even if we give the benefit of the doubt to the 120 with its directional warhead, i reckon it should be closer to 1:1 perhaps... So with that said, there is no conspiracy theories here, its got nothing to do with the plane itself, be it F15 or Su-27 or whatever... Im just looking at the missile files. Oh and regarding ERs... all my conclusions are from multiple 51st internal trainings (as X-Man pointed out earlier) which were done in a much more controlled environment... The difference between FC1 and FC2 became apparent almost instantly! And it has nothing to do with F15 being a tank, yadi yadi.... all planes will take little damage from an ER proximity hit... its just the way it is!
-
UPDATE: Server is back online!
-
^^ Falcon i think you didnt understand my post fully... Of course you can get killed instantly with all missiles... even with P60... BUT, we are talking percentages here, and maneuvering targets in a combat environment... thats when the numbers will show up overtime... and thats why F15s are harder to kill over a number of engagements... etc And as i stated already, there is the wrong damage model for all planes... or in other words, the dead drones firing missiles... Oh and 120 is MORE powerful than ER in FC2, not the other way around (as it should be) ;) Thats essentially part of the problem... and I think you misunderstood what i said in this respect..

All those files are being ICd... so the answer would be, no
-
Guys guys, all of you are missing the point entirely! The problem isnt in the F15 itself, or any other plane for that matter, its a problem with Aim 120... It has 2-3x times more explosive power than ER (even though ER technically packs a hell of alot more TNT, in RL), Just go check the missile files and you will see... numbers dont lie! So, this is obviosly completely incorrect, if we judge by RL numbers... but ED did it to make 120 more deadly against any barrel-rolls, etc... IMO they overdid it big time, the fuze range is already enough if u ask me... So the reason you "see" F15 being so good, because he can usually take you down with 1 hit, while you, in a Su27, flying with firecracker piss poor ERs might need your whole payload after first hit due to much lower "stopping power". Its really that simple! And those who dont fly Su-27s enough just dont know this... Of course the fact that ED messed up the damages modeling doesnt help as any terminal hit will still leave you with fully functional weapons, HUD and avionic systems, not to mention how your missiles stay completely intact and ready to fire after a direct hit... hehe... But guess what! Your odds of sustaining such a 'survivable' hit are significantly higher if you fly the F15 against a Russian bird... why? well as stated above, numbers of missile files dont lie! Anyway this has been said to ED many times already on RU forums... to no avail... nothing much we can do... just my two cents on the issue...

For all who is wondering, the 51st SERVER is currently down for maintenance! It should be back in action later tonite... See you on there!

Our pleasure comrade! See you in the air :joystick:

Stats seem to be running great, with a few small things still to iron out... :) Case is the man! Remember guys we will be making a fresh reset of stats from September 1st, which means we need as much stress testing to be done on the system in these last couple of days to make sure we dont miss anything... Feel free to report problems or bugs on the 51st forums at forums.51st.org See you on the server!

^^ hehe sounds good! GJ Case!

Better performance in MP then SP?
Breakshot replied to asparagin's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Client performance in MP is few times better than if you would play the same mission in SP... Fps might not differ, but the CPU load and stutter wise its almost like night and day! This is because the server handles all the ground units, AI and etc... So yes, you are right in your observation :) -
As Case said, a Tacview will write a dofile in the export.lua pointing it to execute the DCSTacView.lua file... locked Tacview or not, the process is the same... BOTH files must then be ICd, because one can just alter the Tacview file with whatever he wants, and it will execute, even if export is ICd... So if someone doesnt have Tacview installed, he cant join the server... But regardless guys, Tacview causes BIG stutters in FC2 in heavy missions... there really is no point in running it unless u enjoy stutter fests.. or if u got an uber monster rig with RAID0 SSDs or something... :) But think of others with lesser comps, now that u force them to use Tacview... So if say a server forces me to fly with Tacview on, i personally will decline and wont fly there... because i hate nothing more than stutter galore, which BTW i experienced heavily on 104th server when you allowed Tacview... Big no no IMO So as it stands now in FC2, its a lose-lose situation, im afraid...

Sorry but that would be extremely unfair for many pilots located outside EU and US, including myself... At best i get around 220-250 to 51st server for instance, sometimes over 300 on bad days, but it never affected anything as long as its stable enough... Ping is not the issue as long as it stays under 400, IMO... The issue here is having the server and clients overloaded with unnecessary things... We must run the next event with stock settings and IC to prevent additional stuff from breaking the server... and go from there if it works... its quite simple really... i dont think any pre-testing is gonna be needed either, as its hard to get enough pilots for those anyway...
-
Well technically it didnt fail on the second attempt on our server. But the fact that BLUEFOR had to have their precious datalink or whatever else they had (because we had IC on as we didnt have time to adjust it), while REDFOR had no qualms in sacrificing ATC capability in order to make this thing ACTUALLY work, was a bummer for me... sometimes you just have to sacrifice certain things, and certain BLUE individuals just boycotted instead.... ^^ @Frostie & Mogas, i agree completely, scripts crashed this event, IMO... we have seen this already in FC1 events before (take maple flag for example). I think its safe to say we should try the next one with STOCK settings and then go from there... If that runs OK, then we can think of re-introducing additional tools... Just my two cents...

GJ. Looks great with the slightly less red lighting! Link link link! :pilotfly:
-
^^ Well said Frostie! And i certainly agree with the majority here, HL is the way to go! Those who dont want to use it got the Server browser to fall back on... its a win-win situation either way!
-
Any luck guys in getting it to work separately in FC2? Im also very interested in Su-33 model!
-
Great... yes that would be nice!
-
Su-33 too... Really?! I know about the Mig but not the 33 (havent seen any 33 models to date) Link to studio please! :):)

Display Issues....Graphics look zoomed
Breakshot replied to robmypro's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Negative! Just tried this... it does NOT work with TIR (only when Z axis for zoom is enabled)... The view will still snap to the default narrow view when u hit TIR center key... However once TIR is either turned off or Z axis is not set to zoom anymore then it works perfectly... so the zoom is the problem it seems... Unless im missing some other setting/tweak?! The only way at this point seems to be to alter the above shown "Camera view angle limits" parameter instead... then TIR will work with those settings... However there is a limitation there, if the max angle is more than 170 the game will randomly crash when u take TIR out of bounds, which is really annoying... -
Yes some of the 51st guys have been playing with LWAMI 3.08 for ages... but havent touched it in a while though... Will check it out!
-
Well, in that case i take back to what i said above... my bad... :) Glad u got it sorted out then... So what exactly was the problem? Just a corrupt install? odd...
-
I second that! We usually restart our server once a day to avoid the above mentioned problems...
