  1. Just to add to Sokols great info; TLE 5010 sensors are really easy to use. Just put a magnet on the rotational axis of whatever you want to measure, and put the sensor close to it. No need for a pshysical link between axis and sensor.
  2. An empty X-tank will of course add some drag, but not enough to warrant dropping it. Dropping the tank may become necessary if the flight control system is damaged as it can lead to yaw and roll instability. But other than such instances, the tank should stay on. Could be different in DCS, of course.
  3. Yeah, it’s not the resolution, as such. It’s the fact that your eyes are so close to the displays. When using a traditional 2D monitor, even if it’s a 36” inch screen, the view is much smaller than in real life. In VR it’s full scale. Imagine having a 50” 4K display, and then moving so close to it that the view fills a 100° of your field of view, and the virtual cockpit becomes as large as in real life... You’d want more than 4K res too ;)
  4. The external fuel tank on the Viggen isn’t a drop tank, really. It’s only supposed to be dropped in case of an emergency. If it’s empty, there’s very little or no performance gain in dropping it.
  5. Just what the title says. I added an arm and an attachment point for an extra return spring on the TPR toe brakes, which I feel are on the light side, otherwise.
  6. Cool idea! I have been tinkering with something similar, but with stops for idle as well.
  7. How do you change the cable on your Warthog, if it breaks?
  8. I don’t think you’re missing anything... The Rift S isn’t a big step up, from the CV1. It’s better in some ways and not better in other ways. For me, personally, I get better performance and better view clarity. This because the S runs at 80Hz and I can set pixel density back to 1.0 and still get a better view than the CV1 on a PD of 1.5. And I wanted to get rid of the external sensors. But I miss the audio and IPD adjustment of the CV1. I never thought the S would be a dramatic step up from the CV1 and it isn’t. I’ll probably get a Reverb or Index, eventually. We’ll see.
  9. I got my PointCtrl yesterday! Thanks, MilesD! I only had about an hour of play time, but I managed to try it out, briefly. I just plugged in the sensor and turned on the FCU’s and it worked well enough to fly a hop in DCS. You are absolutely on to something big here! This is so much better than using a mouse or trackball. I will spend some more time with it this weekend, and do a proper calibration. So far I really like what I see! Well done!
  10. Don’t know of a commercially available one, but I made one myself.
  11. Don’t know about that... Last year, LEGO won a lawsuit, in China, against Chinese LEPIN for copying 3D artwork.
  12. And I have told you why, several times now. ASW does not work in Win7. ASW is auto enabled in Win10 when FPS fall below 90. ASW introduces distortions. You can turn ASW off, if you like.

    An2

I would love a AN-2 in DCS..! The first time I saw one for real was during my line training as a new hire first officer. As we rolled down the runway at Krakow, there were some 5 or 6 AN-2 lined up on holding at a halfway intersection. I got so mesmerized that I forgot to call V1 and rotate... The captain wrote ”No sightseeing during take off! Focus!” in my training log :-D Would be cool to drop paratroopers and special forces in DCS.
  14. Undortunately no... You can use the cameras, to view your surroundings, but the resolution is rather poor and only grayscale. You do use this view when setting up your play area by viewing your room in the VR display while drawing the play area with your controllers. I too would like an AR feature.
  15. The Rift CV1 uses external IR sensors and tracks IR LEDs on your headset. It can do so in total darkness. The Rift S, however, use inside-out tracking by cameras on the headset. The cameras need to see the surroundings in order to track. Basically, if it’s too dark they can’t see.
  16. To you. The way I see it, there will always be someone advocating another variant to suit this or that era/theater/country. I remember the original IL-2 series, that had some 30 versions of the Me-109. I’m not convinced that this made it superior. So unless you make every available version, someone is going to complain. And, there’s also a cost/benefit ratio that must be considered. The developer may err on the side of plausibility and makes a module that can simulate different versions in one, if you know what I mean. If your version didn’t have Sidewinders, don’t add them. Pretend a little. That’s my take on this, anyway.
  17. Yes. None of those are 100% exact simulations of their real counterparts. And they too simulate a specific configuration which won’t fit in every situation.
  18. Exactly... The Sabre isnt’t perfect and doesn’t fit any map perfectly. A certain amount of make-believe is needed, and that’s my point. Would a certain version or sub version of the Sabre actually add that much to the simulated experience..? I doubt it.
  19. Or, could we accept that it falls within the realms of plausibility, and that the current version caters to a larger crowd, who may want to simulate Sabres of varying nationalities?
  20. And I must appologize for that... I meant 80FPS, which is max on the Rift S. I’ve been up since 03:30. That’s my excuse ;) I actually got 90 FPS on the Rift CV1, as well, but more frequent dips into 45 ASW. With the Rift S I could set Pixel density back at 1.0 and still get a better picture than the CV1 while also getting better performance. I guess 10 frames less every second helps too...
  21. If this was a real Sabre, I wouldn’t be allowed to fly it. At least not an armed one. And if I were to do it anyway, and shoot some sod down with it, I’d be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. But this is a simulator, so I pretend I can do it anyway... I wonder if anyone understood what I meant by that? ;)
  22. My Rift S performs well enough on a OC:d i7 8700k @5GHz, 32Gb RAM and a 1080ti. But, I have lowered the graphics settings quite a bit. No MSAA, low and flat shadows, etc. I get 90FPS, most of the time with occasional dips into 45 and ASW, in single player.
  23. Really? You don’t know how to google? :smilewink: https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/50711/what-are-the-keys-for-asw There’s no indicator other than your FPS counter showing you when the game is capped at 45 or not. You do need a keypad/numpad on your keyboard though, and you have to check that num lock isn’t activated. Do you want me to support that claim as well, or may I assume that it is standard keyboard knowledge? ;)
  24. What claim would that be? The Win8 requirement is right there in the link I gave you. The key combos for ASW is pretty much common knowledge and available of you google it. The last claim I made was that no PC would be able to run DCS at the highest graphics settings at 90FPS was not complete. I forgot to mention ”in VR” :) You need to lower your settings in order to achieve 90 FPS, or suffer the artifacts of ASW, until they incorporate ASW2, or turn ASW off and suffer the frame losses. Many users actually prefer turning ASW off. Any time the Oculus software is running. You can also use the Oculus Tray Tool, to change your ASW settings.
