  1. Ever flown a real plane? There are a lot of buttons to push, checklists to follow and radios to tune. In fact it's a huge part of the workload. Locking someone up on the radar and cranking until your amraam goes pitbul doesn't make you a fighter pilot.
  2. Yeah, but FC3 isn't really a simulation at all. It's DCS lite. Game mode if you will.
  3. In my opinion this is essential for the Hawk, Huey and Mi8. It would enable virtual squadrons to effectively train new pilots and double the combat effectiveness of the helicopters. Later fast jets would be improved even more by adding 2 seater options.
  4. Agreed. I think the Mi8 is playing second fiddle to the F-86F and Huey.
  5. Exactly. Any wind speed entered in the mission editor should be the maximum speed for the particular altitude range. Wind speed either side should decrease unless you set the adjacent altitude range to a higher wind speed.
  6. That's what server passwords are for. This is supposed to be a simulator after all, not dumbed down for mass consumption.
  7. That's old news.
  8. It does seem exceptionally wobbly... like a puppet with all the strings tangled up.
  9. Just tried this in DCS. After 3 minutes 30 the right hydraulic system still had some pressure which only dissipated after cycling the speed brakes. I assume this is the accumulator precharge? It does seem like the pressure bleed in DCS is waaaay too slow regardless. Also it seems you can fly around happily all day with both hydraulics out in DCS, just off the pressure from the wind milling engines. Hope this is fixed one day so we actually have a reason to use manual reversion mode for once.
  10. More Nevada screens please :D
  11. Bump... Why can't we have nice things?
  12. Bing is nobody's friend...
  13. In a book I read recently a P-47 pilot recounts a mock dogfight with a late Mk Spitfire. The only advantages his aircraft had were roll rate and dive speed, so what does he do? He rolls one way then reverses the roll and turns the other way. By the time the Spit has reversed his roll, the Jug is half way into the turn and gradually increasing his separation. After repeating this for a while, the Jug dives for the deck and pulls up into a hard climb. He's carrying more energy than the Spit now and goes all the way over the top and comes back down on the Spit's tail. Superior knowledge of his aircraft's advantages enabled him to turn the situation around from an initially disadvantages position.
  14. What I think people want is to be able to set a 'maximum' value for wind speed. The altitudes you can set wind speeds for should be the altitudes where wind speeds peak. For exanple if you got rid of the 10m setting and made it 200m instead, people would know that the wind speed between 0-200m will be not be higher than what they set in the editor.
  15. Hmm... more than another WW2 aircraft but less than a more modern fighter. I'm also more western minded when it comes to avionics. I'd prefer anything from the century series onwards.
  16. Heaters are for cheaters!
  17. Haha, fair enough Ells! Also, if you had to fly the Sabre for a change you'd probably get strafed on the ramp while you were still reading the manual! MiG-21 vs Hawk will be interesting. Although I suppose the MiG would have the ability to extend at will... All these new jets are getting me excited!
  18. That's great news. Thanks Cobra!
  19. Surprisingly close in the poll... We shall see if it stays that way later in the year!
  20. The Sabre is 30 years older, slightly heavier and has less thrust. But it has a higher top speed and service ceiling, more guns and radar targeting. The Hawk has a better thrust to weight ratio, is probably easier to fly and more nimble and superseded the 'Sabre killer' Folland Gnat. So, I think I'll take my chances in the Hawk (in the back seat, with my hands wrapped around the ejection lever).
  21. In a guns only dogfight (with a gun pod on the Hawk!), which would you rather be in and why?
  22. Yeah, I hope we get some better explosions with EDGE.
  23. Not new, but with the new rendering engine coming shortly, not a priority either.
  24. I think when the consumer version hits the shelves, it's upgrade time. Hopefully EDGE will help squeeze some more frames out of my 4GHz 2500k though
