F-4E Phantom II Development Update and Release Delay Announcement
QuiGon replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom

Yeah, the new weather system is only in effect when using presets as of now. That was explained when the new weather system was released. This is partly to not break old missions and partly because there are things that are not yet supported by the new weather system, like dynamic weather which still only works with the old weather system as of now and is waiting to become available with the new weather system. Good to know, thanks!
-
The new weather system is still WIP, so it's quite possible that this function isn't working properly yet with the new weather. Have you checked if it works properly when using the old weather system (weather preset "NONE")?

I'm on Open Beta, but Updater wants to update to Stable Version
QuiGon replied to speedbird5's topic in Installation Problems
If you have both, the OpenBeta and the Stable installed, then you can uninstall the OpenBeta as it's just redundant now. -
I'm on Open Beta, but Updater wants to update to Stable Version
QuiGon replied to speedbird5's topic in Installation Problems
It still exists technically, it's just running on the same version as the stable now, which is why the OpenBeta installation of @speedbird5 wants to update to the same version that the stable is running on. -
Is it possible to modify the F10 map? Add in borders?
QuiGon replied to apaluq's topic in DCS Modding
There is no other such functionality besides the drawing function in the mission editor. -
one version now How to update from Stable to open beta
QuiGon replied to Sparkman's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
I think BIGNEWY already answered that. In fact you can still use the updater commands to switch between stable and openbeta, not that there is any point in doing so. -
one version now How to update from Stable to open beta
QuiGon replied to Sparkman's topic in DCS World Tutorial & Help Requests
Technically the Stable and OpenBeta branches still exist and work fine. They both just point to the same version now (atm 2.9.3.51704). -
Notso is showing the mission editor IFF configuration in his video from the 1:30 minute mark onwards just like @-Cipher- explained:

This was indeed a remarkable air strike and is described in detail here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H-3_airstrike Especially the air refueling at extreme low level flight is astounding. I'm looking forward to the Phantom and the Iraq map to be able to re-create this strike in DCS.

Usage of F10 map in missions for realism
QuiGon replied to Rankorn's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Oh they do. You will find a map case in the cockpit of pretty much all of the aircraft in DCS. They're usually next to the backrest of the ejection seat. -

And that's exactly how you can configure it for your missions. -
Question about the Paveway series of guided bombs
QuiGon replied to AlexGuy's topic in Military and Aviation
IRL GBU-24 is an entire family of bombs as its laser guidance kit can be attached to a bunch of different warheads, for example: Mk. 84 – 910 kilograms (2,000 lb) General Purpose BLU-109 – 910 kilograms (2,000 lb) Penetrator BLU-116 – Advanced Unitary Penetrator See here for more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GBU-24_Paveway_III The GBU-24 we have in DCS is the one with the BLU-109 penetrator warhead. -

That's why the F10 map can be configured however you want it and in MP this can be set and enforced by the admin. -
Usage of F10 map in missions for realism
QuiGon replied to Rankorn's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Yes, you can put marks on the map (orange circles with optional text) during a mission. The problem with these is, that in MP they are synced between all players of your team, thus making it an unrealistic feature, which I personally also often disable for this very reason. -
No, I don't think so.

Usage of F10 map in missions for realism
QuiGon replied to Rankorn's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I prefer to have the F10 map set to not showing any units at all, not even your own aircraft. In that configuration I have no issue with using the F10 map, as it basically just serves as a paper map that a pilot can take with him in the cockpit. -
That's not possible, as these are two entirely different and seperate systems that are not compatible with each other.

1 in 2 Sparrows doesn't track the target in STT
QuiGon replied to MavOne96's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
In DCS you can manually command the F-15C's radar to flood mode, which does indeed cause a missile warning on other aircraft's RWRs (and even makes them dispense chaff/flare if they have set their CMS to auto mode). With the F-14 you can't manually command the radar to flood mode. It will activate on its own when conditions are met. Due to this restriction I've never tested if it triggers other aircraft's RWRs, but it should. -
Question about the Paveway series of guided bombs
QuiGon replied to AlexGuy's topic in Military and Aviation
GBU-12 = 500 lbs Mk-82 bomb with a Paveway II laser guidance kit added to it GBU-16 = 1000 lbs Mk-83 bomb with a Paveway II laser guidance kit added to it GBU-10 = 2000 lbs Mk-84 bomb with a Paveway II laser guidance kit added to it GBU-24 = 2000 lbs BLU-109 penetrator with a Paveway III laser guidance kit added to it That's how these LGBs are modeled in DCS. IRL there are different subvariants using different warheads, but the ones listed above are what we have in DCS.
