If the KC-130 is in their plans, along with the ability for a human flown Herc to deliver gas to a jet on the basket, what would be so outlandish about proposing a flyable S-3 Viking with a buddy pack?? It was an extremely versatile carrier plane that could conduct anti shipping, anti submarine, reconnaisance and air to ground attack missions in addition to acting as a tanker. There is no doubt that it would be a big hit amongst the carrier mafia within DCS

I'm sorry FoxTwo but you couldn't possibly be more wrong about that. Wave height is NOT entirely determined by wind. Go spend some time at sea to figure that out for yourself!
-
I absolutely agree with this "wish"!! It seems to me that it would be relatively easy for ED to seperate the Sea State from the wind setting in the ME. In reality, the sea state is influenced by many more things than just the wind. The depth of the ocean, current, weather from a fair distance away, etc.

Thanks for that Donny. Can't wait!

Well Donny, if I can manage to give you a cackle for the day, that makes me happy! Thanks for the reply, now get back to work so that we can start throwing money at you!!
-
That would indeed be a huge boon to the community. ED has added a tremendous amout of Ground to Air threats since this was published. I am rather surprised that ED hasn't put something like this out themselves.

Just curious if this absolutely amazing piece of work has been updated recently. It is one of the most useful documents I have come across for a mission builder.
-
....you spend the 60-70 bucks on a module that you KNOW you're not going to spend more than 10 minutes in and justify it by telling yourself that it is to suport the DCS community!!

Which in-game radar do we use??

I recal hearing former Air Force pilots that flew F-4's or Wild Weasel Thuds refer to their WISOs as their GIB - Guy In Back. This could work well for those that asked for a female voice by referring to the WISO as their Girl In Back.

Hi everyone, my name is Razor and I am an adict. I am hoplessly strung out on the mere fantasy that a full fidelity module of the A-7 Corsair II will be coming out sometime in my lifetime. I have a fairly reliable pusher named Donny that comes around my neighborhood about every month or so and gives me a little fix of the SLUF to keep me going and help me get rid of the sweats and shakes. Unfortunately, Donny seems to have moved on and his visits are becoming more and more unpredictable. That's why I am here today. I feel like it's time to begin to at least try to kick this terrible dependance on the SLUF. I know, deep down in my heart of hearts, that it won't do anything for my addiction in the long run. As soon as the A-7 is delivered and the feeling of euphoria has subsided, Donny will just start teasing us addicts with WIP screens of something else, like maybe an AD Skyraider or, GOD forbid, an F9F Panther. It never ends and these pushers know exactly how to keep us on the hook with our wallets in hand, just dying to throw money at them!! Just remember the famous line from Steppenwolf's The Pusher, "GOD D@&M the pusher man!!"

We Want To Hear Your Ideas For A New Map In DCS!
AG-51_Razor replied to danielzambaux's topic in DLC Map Wish List
Hoss has nailed it with these areas and here are the reasons I believe that they would be the right choices. First off, lets say that he is talking about just two maps; Korea with bits of China to the north and Japan to the south on it and Vietnam with Laos and Cambodia on it - although I would have added Thailand to that request. In any event, these two maps would be the best choices because they would provide the ability for a mission builder to construct missions that took place in WWII, the Korean War, the Indochina War, the Vietnam War and most importantly, a future conflict that could possibly (probably) occur in the not too distant future thereby accommodating nearly all of the modules available in DCS today and in the near future. There are plenty of scenarios that would involve carrier as well as land based warfare. It is an area that has been too long englected by the DCS family and there is no doubt whatsoever that it would be a huge cash cow!! C'mom Dan, you KNOW you want to do this!! -
Is that when you're going to start flying with us again?? Can't wait my friend. Stay close to the AC Hoss, I hear that it occaisionally gets a bit warm down there in the valley

It might also be important to keep in mind that the USAAF was able to "retire" the Jug from the pure air to air fighter role with the introduction of the P-51D and assign it to a fighter-bomber role, which it accelled in. The US Navy didn't have the luxery of large air bases with acres and acres of parking for several types of aircraft specializing in various roles. The Corsair showed itself to be every bit as capable a pure fighter as the Hellcat but was just a little late to the party having to work out the carrier suitability issues that plagued it early on, consequently most of the deck and hangar space was already spoken for by the F6F, TBM and SB-2C. As the war dragged on though, the Navy decided to begin cutting down on the number of SB-2C's and TBM's assigned to the air group and placed Corsairs aboard that could fulfill both roles as a fighter and bomber.

Yeah, me too and it just dawned on me that the markings on that Wildcat put it in Operation Torch yet it is obviously sitting in a tropical setting, like the Marianas. No matter, it will still be awesome to fly it regardless of how it's painted!!

I seem to recall that quite a while ago, it was announced that the F4U was going to come with a Pacific map and that it was most likely going to be Iwo Jima. But that was a very long time ago and I've not seen anything about it in quite a while. Personally, I can't think of a more useless map to spend time on.....for any module, other than maybe an LCVP or AMTRAC but especially for the Corsair. I suspect that it might have been because a very famous battle was fought there and the makers possibly figured that it might be relatively easy to build, given the small amount of surface area it covers. I don't know.

Thank you for the great update Hiromachi. Have a wonderful summer.......while you work your heart out on the Corsair and hopefully the Crusader!!

I'd gladly pay extra for a -4 or -4B!
