On my DCS works fine: wonder how you have managed to get an F-14 appear as helicopter, maybe a stray User Mod?

this is an old guide, but most concepts are still valid https://1drv.ms/b/s!Ai6cuX3YQI26gqVS0lX6SfvYiKbeAQ

I was just adding a data point to your estimate, no other motivation, so no need for sarcasm. -
DCS with Windows 10 after 10/2025
Rudel_chw replied to BJ55's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
the Steam user survey shows only 2.3% employ linux https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam -
How can the FM be improved if it is already very close to the real world prototype? being a FC Module does not means that it has no flight model fidelity, what it doesn't have is full fidelity systems (electrics, fuel, hydraulic, sensors, etc)

Are the AI assets and planes part of the maps?
Rudel_chw replied to Fingers68's topic in Payment and Activation
Yes and No, most DCS assets are provided within the free core of DCS, but there are some that were released together with the South Atlantic Map ... interestingly these are all free to use, even if you don't own the map nor have it installed, I don't know any other Map that includes assets. Other assets available were added together with a Module, like the Chinese assets provided by Deka with the J-11 or the JF-17 ... they are also free to use. Other assets are payware, like the ones that came with the Supercarrier or the WW2 assets pack. Lately, DCS has adopted some assets that were developed by end-users, like the ones made by Current Hill and the ones by Massun92. -
Will I be able to load its cockpit shape on the Model Viewer to inspect the arguments used by each cockpit switch or indicator? (to be able to create training missions)
-
clearly you would never fly something like a sabre, only the most modern stuff will do.
-
This must be kind of a record, reviving a 20-years old thread to add a pointless remark
-
Not only affects skinning, it also makes impossible for me to edit training missions for it, since the Model viewer can't load the encrypted cockpit shape to inspect the animation arguments of the cockpit controls. The F-5E remaster was a sad experience and so, from now on, I will not purchase any DCS aircraft that has the same limitations.

How to properly Move the "Saved Games" folder
Rudel_chw replied to Rudel_chw's topic in General Tutorials
Hello, This is a guide for moving /Saved Games/ … do not use it to move the DCS program. Mklink will not duplicate data, nor move it by itself, it just creates the link. I tried both kind of links D and J and my experience was that J worked better with DCS, that’s why I use it. Sorry for the english, but its the language to be used on this forum section. Eduardo -

Pre-set Kneeboard pinned page request
Rudel_chw replied to 609_Relentov's topic in DCS Core Wish List
+1 … actually I would love to have automatic pins for each kneeboard source: module, map image, map kneeboard, saved games kneeboard, and mission file kneeboard.- 1 reply

WW2 Allied Search Lights ???
Rudel_chw replied to ChuckIV's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Assign them to the Combined Joint Task Forces Blue, instead of UK or USA. -
Hello, It was a mistake on my part, the skin works fine on the C II, like this: It was a surprise to me, because all this time I've been under the assumption that the A-10C II required different skins than the original 10C Thanks a lot and best regards, Eduardo
-
But I have not seen these skins before on User Files, did you originally share them on a different website?

Gunthrek Academy: F/A-18C Hornet
Rudel_chw replied to Gunthrek's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Hornet Tutorials
seems he burned out of dcs,at least for a while, so he likely does not visit the forum, but his discord is this one: https://discord.gg/YgRK4SXV -

please, contact the OP to see if it would be possible to share your fixes with the community -
unfortunately I’m not holding my breath on it …

Hello, Thanks a lot for the livery, but seems it only works with the original A-10C, not the II update: but no worries, I haven't yet started editing ukranian missions, as I'm still busy completing my T-45 mission set. Eduardo

VP-Airfield Equipment 0.8.2 beta
Rudel_chw replied to Hawkeye60's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
VP-CZT-2 ... on your pic only the light post appears, because the jet blast deflector fence hides the rest of its objects. -
Even if an extra 10% discount is enticing, this will be my first time ever refusing a dcs pre-order … I wont purchase until I’m sure that configuration and liveries are not encrypted to prevent user mods, no matter how much I like the aircraft, I was badly burned with the F-5E remaster, so won’t be making the same mistake again.

Thanks, looks great for my purposes ... pity that the A-10C II has no upgrade pricing for users that have the original A-10C ... I purchased the upgrade in spite of not actively using this Module at the time, because ED upgrades tend to be short-lived .. I did the same with the BS2 and the F-5E, basically one can't leave an update price for later.

Yes, something appropriate for a contemporary battlefield if the usaf had gone ahead with selling its A-10’s https://theaviationist.com/2024/04/23/a-10-international-customer/
