As a temporary fix, you can do what I did: First, go to "\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\AV8BNA\Textures\AV8BNA-CPT" I opened the "AV8_RS_3S.dds" and "AV8_RS_3C_RoughMet.dds" files, and removed the dirt from the MPCDs by coloring in the screens with solid green / red, as shown in the pic below:

I started DCS and logged on to the AO server (with 30-ish players). The total memory use increased by approximately 14GB, but the DCS process only used 7GB. The remaining 7 was nowhere to be found in the task manager, so it seems like there is a memory leak somewhere.

...and DOOM3 doesn't run on my computer that used to run DOOM II flawlessly. It's almost as if hardware requirements change as games evolve. Who'd have thunk it?

2.5 looks fantastic. Thanks a lot to the whole ED team :) Keep up the good work!

The OT just wrote "Aust", so the release time depends on whether you use the "-ria" or "-ralia" suffix.

Updates usually go live around 16-18:00 CET

It sounds like you are too far away from the tanker. You need to be pretty close in order to get a "cleared contact" message.

Ground crew in front of aircraft when refueling / rearming.
drPhibes replied to aileron's topic in DCS Core Wish List
And instead of the "hey, what are you doing?" when we forget that the ground crew are still doing something, we could have a loud bang with a subsequent engine failure caused by ingesting one of the ground crew. Or am I the only one with a pretty morbid sense of humor? -
You probably forgot to save the file with the alpha channel that defines transparency (i.e. the actual shape of the numbers).

A/A TACAN using only the onboard interrogator can only give the distance. For bearing information, you need a full TACAN beacon/transponder, which is too bulky for integration in a fighter (and not really needed).

MODS by CUBANACE SIMULATIONS
drPhibes replied to cubanace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
This seems to be the cubanace modus operandi. New "projects" announced every other week, which are usually cancelled after a few weeks, with every trace of them being deleted from the FB page (to mention a few: F-16, Mitsubishi F-2, Northrop YF-23, Su-17, Mig-23). A five second attention span is not the best starting point when trying to learn 3ds and c++/lua coding at the same time... -
Perhaps it's time to pull out this old demonstration of the ED terrain tools again: xYUHbx6hYJ8 Is it just a demonstration, with a randomly selected ares being shown, or is it an indication of something that might be available somewhere down the line? Let's hope for the latter.

The military airbases in the area are Banak, Andøy, Bardufoss, Bodø and Evenes. There are also 10+ civilian airports there, but they are mostly short strips of limited use for anything other than helis and harriers. Road bases are a no-go in Norway, since we barely have any straight pieces of road at all ("is there a rock in the way? Build the road around it!"), and practically none that are long (and wide) enough to land a plane on.

This is reset after every update, so you'll need to keep changing your graphics.lua ad infinitum. Just change it in autoexec.cfg, and you won't have to mess with it again.
-
To clarify: I'm only interested in the DCS F18 manual (whenever that may be ready in a state of completion where printing makes sense), not the real one.
-
I'm interested if it's done properly (spiral bound) and the price is right.
-
The new 3d model is completely different from the existing AI F/A-18C, so the existing template will most likely be obsolete when the module is released.
-
Another important aspect regaring inflation is that there are several currencies involved, which may or may not develop in a similar direction inflation-wise. Most of ED's expences (salaries etc) will be in Russian roubles, so both the USD-to-rouble exchange rates and the Russian CPI has to be taken into consideration.

Viggen documentation (flight manuals, etc)
drPhibes replied to renhanxue's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Yup. Retro hardware (especially avionics) is always interesting. -
Which isn't so surprising, since the USMC has been a component of the US Navy for nearly 184 years.

ED has previously stated that there will be no more hard copies of manuals. Once the PDF is released, you can go to a local print shop and have a copy made. If you team up with several other people (and find the cheapest print shop online), the price won't be too bad. As an example, a spiral bound 500 page (250 double sided A4 pages) manual will cost ~14€ when buying 10 pcs. from a randomly selected shop.
