  1. The WIP template is available from the razbam wesite.
  2. OT, but "Maritime Augmented Guidance with Integrated Controls for Carrier Approach and Recovery Precision Enabling Technologies" has to be one of the dumbest backronyms in US military history.
  3. Sorry. Meant 1.5.8. Latest version.
  4. That's not a manual. It's a single page advertisement.
  5. Works fine here. 40-ish servers showing in 2.2 Edit: and 88 servers in 1.5.7

    2.5 Size?

Yup. Worked fine last time I tested.

    2.5 Size?

Why do it so complicated? If, on "2.5-day", the release and open beta versions of 1.5 are the same version (like now; 1.5.8.12823.414), you can delete one or the other. It doesn't matter which one, as they are identical at that point. The installer will find your 1.5 and 2.2 files even if they aren't located on the same drive where you are installing 2.5, so if you're low on SSD space, move one or both to a HDD.
  8. This question is impossible to answer. First of all, the definition of "must have mods" is highly subjective. Some people can't live without new terrain textures, some need flyable AI aircraft with FC3 cockpits, and some need custom aircraft liveries. Stuff like flyable AI aircraft or new ground units (e.g. upuauts cargo mod) often need updates when going from one subrevision to anoher (1.5.5 to 1.5.7 etc etc). Terrain textures will most likely not work at all, due to the new/updated terrain mesh. Skins made for 1.5.x will need new SPEC and RoughMet files to work properly with the new PBR lighting engine. Sound mods will most likely work as before.
  9. You seem to be thinking of software like we did back in the pre-internet days. A constantly evolving product like DCS is never "finished" or "complete". And the "point of producing dozens of aircraft modules" is simple: generate income to allow the development of the core sim (and future modules). I know this sounds like complete crazy talk, but the 80-ish people working for ED actually get paid for their work (apparently even Russians need money; who'd have thunk it?). When you give away your base product for free, the money needs to come from somewhere else.
  10. Here's something to keep you entertained until ED releases their own manual: http://www.avialogs.com/index.php/en/aircraft/ussr/yakovlev/yak-52.html
  11. There are several high power RF-emmitters close to the canopy, so a thin film of metal is deposited (PVD) onto the canopy glass for RF-shielding (basically turning the cockpit into a faraday cage). A similar process is used for the canopies on planes like the F-117/22/35, which prevents the cockpit from acting as a corner reflector for the incoming radar waves.
  12. Sorry to say so, but this seems pretty pointless. Do you want separate launchers for each plane as well?
  13. ...then it's fun you can't see any more.
  14. But not the D model. The G was the only straight-wing F-84 to carry nukes. I don't mean to be overly critical here, but you really need to work on your research skills...
  15. What are your sources for the F-84D having an APG-30 + A-4? And the APG-30 (a ranging radar) having "lock-on" functionality?
  16. Uhm, no. The user files section lets you choose the file type ("skin") and unit ("av8b" etc), and then you have direct access to the skins with preview pics. This is a superior method to browsing through more os less descriptive thread titles in a sub-forum.
  17. AFAIK they do. At least there are tons of references to GPS in the natops flight manual.
  18. The 200 page manual that's missing the operating limitation (section 5) and flight characteristics (section 6) chapters? If so, your definition of "everything" obviously doesn't include anything related to how the plane actually flies (or flew, to be precise).
  19. Yes.
  20. pilot_AV8B.dds and pilot_AV8B_gear.dds in the \CoreMods\aircraft\AV8BNA\Textures\AV8BNA\ folder.
  21. Looks like a fly found its way in between the camera lens and the protective window in the FLIR gimbal...
  22. Short version: compensating for doppler distortion in FM coded pulses is done using complicated magic, ehm, digital signal processing. Long version: here's an IEEE paper on the topic: http://ecs.syr.edu/faculty/sarkar/pdf/2007_IEEE_Radar_297.pdf For the mathematically inclined, Bassem Mahafza's books ("Radar Systems Analysis and Design Using Matlab" and "Matlab Simulations for Radar Systems Design") do a quite good job explaining these phenomena.

    Laser Code

It's a general feature of the Paveway series. While there may be some newer marks of the series that allow changing the code fron the cockpit, the Paveway IIs only have rotary selector switches on the seeker/guidance section. The only connections between the bomb and the pylon are the mounting lugs and a safety wire that deploys the rear fins and activates the thermal battery. There is no interface for transmitting any kind of data to the bomb.

    Laser Code

There is no data connection between a regular LGB (i.e. not the dual mode bombs like laser jdams), so you can't change the bomb code from the cockpit. The in-cockpit setting is for the DMT/TGP only.
