  1. I agree with the above regarding "What we had before was the worst spotting system out of any sim on the market." However, I fear DCS are attempting to come up with the worst solution for the worst spotting system out of any sim on the market. I am concerned that the solution being attempted is far from logical, desirable or achievable and will just cause a lot of trouble and strife. In fact, to me, DCS appears to be trying to apply a sticking plaster solution to try and cover a fundamental problem. I would be happy to be proved wrong though, because I would like to keep supporting DCS if I can, so good luck with it anyway. Happy landings, Talisman
  2. You can exhibit all the superior attitude you like towards my post, but it will not change the fact that DCS has created a problem for itself in this instance. Your question was answered by my previous post if you cared to take it on board and I do not intend to get into semantics and a yawn fest of detail when what I have posted is a perfectly reasonably expressed dissatisfaction with the new spotting dot system from my perspective. Bottom line is that I have posted what I have posted and I am not interested in answering your questions. You say that some others are plagued with smudgy black squares, so there would appear to be a "we" around the place somewhere, lol. Our views obviously differ, so time to move on I suggest or folks reading this thread will be getting even more bored.

Hardly, since what we have at the moment is absolutely dire and provides me with no confidence that a player side spotting dot adjustment is the way to go. In fact I think it is definitely not the way to go. Also, I am not the only one plagued by this smudgy black square nonsense, so it is not the best for some others too. I do not see how the ability you speak of will be reduced. What I see is a new additional ability that will be exploited.
  4. Folks will just exploit visuals using the spotting dot, which is likely to be a far easier and even better exploit.
  5. Bottom line is it was better before they messed with it. If you had to see what I see since this spotting dot fiasco I suggest you would want to give up on DCS too. As I say, the DCS brand is clearly being damaged by this. Happy landings, Talisman
  6. I am in this for MP and the new spotting system has ruined MP for me. I have been informed that this spotting dot is handled by the player side not server side for MP, so we have a very poor situation at the moment IMHO. I felt we were nearer to a level playing field before, but since the new spotting dot it is shockingly bad how things have turned out and it is really the worst thing to happen to DCS in my view. I would not have pre ordered the Phantom if I had known about this spotting dot travesty. To say that I am extremely disappointed is an understatement. These large black smudgy squares that can been seen for miles and miles and then disappear and reappear are truly awful and very off-putting. Also, the black smudgy squares do not allow the aircraft type to be identified at all. Appalling! I thing this issue is doing great damage to the DCS brand. Talisman

  8. Hello Enigma, Quick question. Is the terrible improved (but bugged) spotting dot enabled or disabled server side? I sincerely hope that it can be disabled server side to ensure a level playing field on the Enigma Cold War server. I have turned the improved (but bugged) spotting dot off, as has now been enabled by the latest patch, under the gameplay settings. For many of us the new improved (but bugged) spotting dot is very bad as we get large black squares displayed which stand out for miles and completely ruins immersion, especially in VR.   10. New spotting is awfully bad! Overcooked is an understatement! How on earth did this even get off the drawing board? Big black squares are unacceptable and it is now very much harder to identify aircraft type at previous distances. Immersion as regards anything like real is completely ruined.   12. Congrats on the new downwash effects, but grass is still sticking up through the floor of the aircraft only now it is waving furiously! The grass is going crazy inside the aircraft!   13. Can you wear independent ear phones with the Pimax Crystal? I would like to keep using my own haptic feedback earphones with great sound, so would not be interested in purchasing the Crystal if I can't use my own headphones with it. Thanks in advance. Talisman

  19. Agree with above, especially crew communications, plus, come on ED, lets be able to see the troops in the back and see them embark and disembark. I think helicopter operations have so much untapped potential that ED could explore to drive sales and improve customer experience. Happy landings, Talisman
  20. Dear Enigma, Please investigate bug regarding Huey and troop drops as experienced on the server by myself and Branston 10 minutes ago. Problem: Two Huey helicopters drop of troops. 1st Huey finds 9 enemy units and kills 6. Second Huey finds zero enemy units. First Huey then gets shot down by remaining live units while picking up troops. Second Huey picks up troops and drops them again with the same result, zero units found. Remaining enemy live units fire at passing jet and damage it. Second Huey shot down. Why is the second Huey not able to find or destroy enemy units? Why is the second Huey getting message to say zero enemy units found? Please investigate as this is no fun for Huey's flying together. This has been a reoccurring problem for a number of weeks now on both maps. Thank you. Talisman Edit. Dear All, just to say that Enigma is working on this and much more. We just have to wait for a while.
  21. Sorry about Discord but I don't use it as I am unable to agree and sign off on their privacy policy. Strange, as the reported number of enemy units found by the first Huey (example 19) vs the reported number of enemy units destroyed by the first Huey (example 6) indicated more targets left to destroy for the second Huey. Even stranger, when returning to the target on another mission sortie we were able to destroy the remaining targets. Very odd. Happy landings, Talisman
  22. Dear Enigma, A friend and I have been attacking front depots with two Huey helicopters loaded with standard troops. The problem we have been having is that the first Huey to drop off troops finds lots of ground units and destroys 6 of them leaving plenty of ground units for the second Huey to destroy. However, the second Huey gets a message to say that zero targets have been found. The same thing appears to happen sometimes when we attack normal front line units too. Could you shed any light on this because we are somewhat confused why the second Huey gets a message to say zero enemy units found when the first Huey has messages indicating that there are many enemy units found and many still left to engage.   23. Human Animations Starting with new AH-64D pilots in 2022, this work will continue into 2023 to include new infantry and more pilots with more life-like models and animations. Priority pilot models first include the F/A-18C and F-16C pilots. Very much hope that "new infantry" means I will be able to look back and see the infantry in the back of my Huey helicopter and see them embark and disembark. Also hope that more life-like pilot models means that my Huey co-pilot will talk to me and call out contacts, etc, just like the rear seat AI for the Tomcat. Happy landings, Talisman

Dear Enigma89, Please return the server setting to 'allow player export' as soon as possible as since this was just turned off I can no longer use my JetPad with SimShaker for Aviators sortware ( https://github.com/Simshaker-for-Aviators/SimShaker-for-Aviators-Releases ) as it will not work unless 'allow player export' is activated. Without JetPad and SSA my aircraft is dead as I get no vibrations through my seat without it. Thank you very much for your kind consideration. Happy landings, Talisman
