  1. Burble effect IS already modelled. The tomcat is also affected by the same forces, she is just bigger and heavier. The FM on the F18 is getting a facelift as well. The effect is connected to the global turbulence simulation. It is worse with strong headwinds, it is lighter with lighter headwinds.

    DCS: F-15E Trial

That's a fair point I certainly missed. As draconus pointed out above, the module doesn't perform too different from others but I need to add that when rendering the A-G radar 80nm out for the first time it stutters strangely on my end. Other than that is a fairly easy going module just like any other one out there. There are options on the special tab for you to fine tweak the radar demands on your CPU as well as a option to render lower cockpit textures for GPUs with low VRAM. I use a RTX 3060 with 12gb and 64gb System Ram and have zero issues with it without using the low res textures option. If you can fly the A-10C with the Mav sensor on one MFD and the TGP on the other MFD without issues, the SE won't be a problem. I've found the F-16C with Mav + TGP active on MFDs to be more demanding than the SE besides its A-G radar. i5 10400 + RTX 3060 12gb + 64gb Ram + DCS on a normal SSD. I hope you can have enough data to be accurate with how your PC will perform before buying and without frustration, for real. Perhaps the Devs should be releasing system requirements for modules too. Happy flying.
  3. @Elf1606688794 Thanks for the two videos above but the last one is ....War Thunder openly arcade videogame. Idk how a footage to that videogame is relevant to anything external of it, unless it was mistakenly referenced.
  4. Concur. The higher you go in relation to the clouds altitude, the worse it gets. Close to them, the clouds seems ok. High up, they start breaking into horizontal lines. You you have any roll on your POV, same it happens with distant clouds in the horizon.
  5. Syria came a lot after than Persian Gulf. By then, the tech evolved a lot. Not dismissing the hard work done by Ugra Media, but lets understand that this software and a lot of its development work flow/techniques changed throughout the years. Iran land mass still huge in the PG map, you can easily make 500 to 600nm sorties there. I fly it weekly along the Syria map. The thing that bothers me in the PG map is detail, so I'd be going to the opposite idea of how vast the map is. Pleasing everyone is impossible.

    F-16XL

It was discussed, alongside the F-20 after the F-5 was released. 16XL aside,... it is a good practice to have a look at the pattern which aircraft are picked to be modules or desired to be modules by developers. [Low amount of Redfor aircraft in full fidelity is due to other issues, and they are highly desired. MiG-23 and 29A will break my wallet day 1 of release for sure]. What I gather is that usually are aircraft that have seen active deployment in the world. Even the Ka-50 saw war, and that's the current DCS module that has seen less action besides the trainer jets. Documentation is also needed to develop a worthwhile module to have a high degree of fidelity and functionalities. They are not cheap to make or buy, so they have to be worth the investment. I find it unlikely to have DCS experimental aircraft modules in the short to medium future for their cost, appeal, capabilities, compatibility with realistic scenarios, documentation. I may be inaccurate in the observations made, I apologize in advance if so.
  7. Quite cool stuff. U.S. Navy Aircraft History: A Brief History of U.S.Navy Jet Speed Brakes (thanlont.blogspot.com)
  8. It has been stated the map will expand south later on.
  9. Games that features such things usually 'strap' a virtual camera onto a 3D models head that features a lot movement. If there's a way to implement this would be cool for video creation, though. Yep, I use it in 2D. Does show a fair amount of movement for immersion. I like it, some don't. I guess OP is referring to something more camera like like a go pro POV.
  10. I just tested Su-25T in Caucasus map. Instant Action Mission, 'Close air Support - Medium'. Canopy stays in place after air start and maneuvers like it should. Open Beta, latest patch. No mods. Check your bindings for canopy opening, and controls. Post a track if possible.

    Proficiency poll

I have problems with question 2 and 3. Question 2: I don't own all modules by quite a margin, but also is not just 5 modules as in '3 to 5' answer. Mi-8, Huey, F-5, F-18C, F-16C, F-15E, A-10C I & II, FC3, MiG-21, Ka-50 II & III, F-14A&B, P-51D. Besides the maps, I don't own Sinai and neither South Atlantic. I bypassed all WWII stuff besides the Mustang when it came out way back then. Question 3: I'm currently flying 5 modules, 1 or 2 of them everyday. I don't keep flying one until I can get to be an absolute monster in it but neither I discard. The moment where DCS clicked as a proficiency based 'sport' and that you can keep learning and getting more efficient endlessly was when I flew the Hornet exclusively between 2018 to 2023. On and off within a few months from DCS but it mainly was the Hornet being the star. I then pulled the trigger on 3 modules last year being the F-15E (I just love the air-frame and good memories from the days of Flaming Cliffs 3 being the center of attention on open multiplayer back in 2012-2014, so it was a no go missing it out), F-14 (legend...and probably the most fun action packed module) and the F-16C (because why not? Sports car of the sky and decent at CAS). DCS modules shine the more you know them by muscle memory and everything starts getting to be an extension of your body/mind. I don't get how people can be done with a module and jump to the next one or the next module to be released being that essential. Of course I'm excited to see what the F-4E brings to the table and the mid cold war era kind of engagements style is very appealing, there are very much different flavors. If the F-5 gets a facelift or it comes to be a II module upgrade, I'm jumping into that one right away, because it still is so much of value. MiG-21 the same. So those 2 questions got to be inaccurately answered. Happy Flying!
  12. Comma followed by 'and' means only the following one is designated with the later classification of 'as AI only'. If there were no comma, all 3 would. That's how I interpreted it. Also...why make a cockpit for AI only aircraft??? It is obviously a player controlled module. The message was there. Good news for South America map. I'm looking forward for its continued development and upgrades.
  13. Interesting. Thanks. I only used this chart to troubleshoot repeat frequencies from carriers and tankers on missions/sandbox I made. No VOR navigation was attempted. Any way to get steering on any module with TCN channels with VOR stations?
  14. Tacan and Many VOR share frequencies. For example: EL ARISH (113.60 ARH) VOR is Tacan 83X I hope this chart helps. You can save and turn the pages anti clockwise to ease neck fatigue. (the pages are 90° clockwise for some reason for me). https://www.flightsim-corner.com/wp-content/uploads/VOR-Frequencies-to-TACAN-Channel-list.pdf
  15. @bonesvf103Tweak your gamma settings. The videos seems overexposed and I personally wouldn't fly like that. You cannot even see the purple ish tint on the Hornet's HUD glass there, I presume is not modded out. All the upper white values are chopped off and the sky and clouds are merging much more with the HUD symbology. If someone tries to make a cockpit a bright place, it will harm HUD and HMDs readability. 2.2 is default 'natural' gamma. Move from there depending on your setup. If you have done some other tweak on your GPU control panel, try to reset that to default because maybe the footage is not overexposed to your eyes but any changes outside DCS may be chopping up black or white values, making gamma tweaks inside DCS seem always wrong or non intuitive. Not to confuse gamma with brightness. These two terms means different value changes across bright and dark by different proportions. Bellow images are a mix of different maps with different aircraft at the worst conditions I could of come up with with limited time with bright values testing. These are with gamma 2.2
  16. Sa-11 Gadfly guiding a missile to a target behind ground masking. Missile adjusted to my maneuver after the guiding radar lost LOS on me. After masking I had zero RWR warning until being hit. No jamming. Mission was made with briefing room. I'm using no mods. Open Beta. Tacview-20240113-075359-DCS-Syria - Operation Urgent Arch a-10.zip.acmi
  17. This doesn't make sense. If INS drifts, wouldn't it be just the coordinates and steer point positioning error vs real world position? If the TPOD locks onto something on the ground, the HUD should point at the right place as well regardless of INS drift because both (HUD/Aircraft & TPOD) are operating within the same INS. Am I missing something here? If this behavior happens every time there is no GPS due to mission date, isn't this a bug?
  18. +Keyboard or other device for other functions. Yes.
  19. Instant Action - Persian Gulf - Ready on the Ramp -> ATFLIR with custom loadout armed while aircraft is hot. Not that it matters being spawned hot. I did several sorties with the Hornet by starting up cold and still was accurate, not 100% but nowhere near the discrepancy shown on OP screenshots. Nav to IFA. A-G Gun. HUD is accurate to Atflir position. Can you test on similar instant action default mission?
  20. I consider this AV a malware itself for more than a decade already. Hold onto the question if you really need it, for a bit.
  21. I believe this is good for everyone. Also, keeping the ability to roll back to previous versions if some issue arises for those who are not into open multiplayer and/or enjoys a single player/co-op experience is a must.
  22. Gotcha. To add: Disable any application that somewhat overclocks the GPU if there is any enabled.
  23. Does it happen with any other game? If yes, it is hardware or cooling, likely the former. Check your GPU temperatures. Delete FXO and METASHADERS2 folder from your saved games>DCS world folder. Let it rebuild. - DDU the driver (safe application tool to fully remove the driver and its components) and re install again the same driver or the previous one you've played DCS on and had no issues. - Limit the frame rate if you haven't, but first check the temperatures at the same settings you've encountered the problem. If your gpu goes above 82°C it starts throttling, anything above 100°C is a serious concern. If you still encounter the issue without having a temperature problem, or a driver problem. Try to play another game as demanding or more demanding as DCS is. If you can reproduce the issue in another game, RMA your laptop (it is new, right? you mentioned 3 months old) for another one or money back. Hope it helps in some form. Sucks to see such issue. Best of luck.

    F-18 boring?

Got the Hog on early access, early enough to get Nevada with it. Got the Hornet in 2018 and had a blast with it since then till today. Warthog has more things going on like: SPI management, SPI broadcasting, More functions on its HMD, more extensive counter measure configuration and deployment, AIM-9 sub modes, CDU management (intimidating in the begining but intuitive later on), 1 more radio, ARC-210 radio, store hang, laser guided rockets. Granted, the Hornet has stuff A-10 doesn't by being also a fighter jet...but my guess is on the Warthog being heavier on 'stuff to do'. I adore both.

    F-18 boring?

Same here. Started playing the Viper late last December. From the get go, I had fuel management issues while having a ton of flight time in the hornet. I got better at it on the Viper but for sure I have to be more careful on the Viper with a CAS loadout than with a similar loadout on the Hornet. I guess the A-10C is more complex than the Hornet.
