Where Can I Find A Realistic Joystick?
Sokol1_br replied to NavyAce's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
P-51 control stick is not that "3-4 feet long": 1'8-11/16" ~ 52.6 cm https://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4380421/2 Virpil T-50CM2 base +20 Cm "S" extension and various grips, can add ~4/4.5 cm of base bellow the articulation point (base total height is 8.7cm). EDIT - Simular configuration for VKB base + 20 cm "S" extension, or Warthog + 20 cm Sahaj straight extension. -
Get VKB Joy Tester and analyze axes response. http://ftp.vkb-sim.pro/Programms/ VKB Button Tester for test buttons, HATS, or test these in Windows Game Controllers (joy.cpl). CH (Apem) CTS potentiometers for replacement are available in Digitky, around ~$5 each. Rel4y sell contactless replacement (KMZ-41) for those vintage CH's.

Hall effect sensor Question
Sokol1_br replied to Sierra99's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Looks like that those A3144 are switches, not linear Hall like A1324LUA-T (or 25, 26). "SENSITIVE HALL-EFFECT SWITCHES" https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/55092/ALLEGRO/A3144.html A1324LUA-T datasheet: "Linear Hall Effect Sensor" https://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/517271/ALLEGRO/A1324LUA-T.html -
If that XBox controller is seem by Windows, Games as joystick, you can use the mentioned software. But seems that JoyTokey handle XImput too.

Hall effect sensor Question
Sokol1_br replied to Sierra99's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Seems that lack calibration. "Save settings to device" and to a cold reset (unplug and plug USB cable), after open "VKB Joy Tester" (button in lower task bar) and test the axis. Since you have ticked "Auto calibration" leave the pot in middle of course before plug again, if leave in "0" (~0v) no variation will be detected. -
~ 2/3 yes, as the top shell is plastic. :D

Look at this guide to see if not skip some detail: https://www.geneb.org/mmjoy2/pro-micro-instructions.pdf -
 An they are more flexible and powerful - with support for contacless sensor in digital mode; than most of "joysticks" controllers for DIY available.
-
First thing: you need an (USB) controller with support for Shift Register, Leo Bodnar BU0836A don't support, only "diode Button Matrix". BU0836X already have Shift Register integrated, but this option use more wires (at least 24) than PS2 connector on grip support, requiring replace the connector. If you already have an BU0836A for this project, depends on your DIY level can draw an replacement PCB with Diode Matrix and replace the original Shift Register PCB, an example made by GVL224: http://avia-sim.ru/forum/download/file.php?id=7665 http://avia-sim.ru/forum/download/file.php?id=7666 But this option too use more wires (10 = 6x 4 matrix) than PS2 connector on grip support, requiring replace the connector. Mini-DIN (PS-2 like) 10 pin connector exist: https://console5.com/store/sega-saturn-mini-din-10-av-connector-plug-in-line-solder-type-silver-plated.html MMjoy2, FreeJoy firmiware for (low cost ~$5) Arduino (ATMEGA32u4, ATMEGA90USB, 16Mhz, 5v) and STM32F103 boards respectively, support the native Shift Register (CD 4021) inside Warthog/F-16/F-18/Cougar grips, so what you need do is the female PS2 connector, as describe in the linked above Debolestis topic.

Can, using JoyTokey, XPadder, Joystick Gremlin, what can allow set "modes" too.

Opinions on Logitech G Flight Pedals
Sokol1_br replied to e4mafia's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thing is that in G PRO Flight Rudder "league" you have and less expensive option, that are less likely to present issues: CH PRO Pedals. -
TomVr Good job in this throttle.

Hall effect sensor Question

Seems that you are using an old version. Pick one of the last two (2016) in MegaMOZG site. Anyway, set manually in MMjoySetup.ini [Main] Translate=English -
Hall effect sensor Question
Sokol1_br replied to Sierra99's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Rel4y, You shift register board can use Dupont connectors, 2.54mm pitch? EDIT - See that support "The pins are spaced in standard 2,54 mm (0.1 in) to fit normal header pins (see picture 2)." Mr Mojo97, Dupont cable with connector make very easy wire the buttons. -
For certain controls you can use an rotary switch as Encoder, removing their stop for turn freely. The advantage of rotary switches is their defined position and tactile feedback (click) when changing positions. Instead wire then as normal buttons (5, 10 buttons positions) follow "binary truth table ", and use just 2 buttons positions, one in clockwise turn, an other in counterclockwise turn. http://www.737ng.co.uk/switch_as_encoder.pdf This will be convenient for some controls. Pre-requisite: the (USB) controller need support encoders.

Hall effect sensor Question
Sokol1_br replied to Sierra99's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For Arduinos "button matrix" is the same thing. Shift Register make the assembly more clean, but require PCB, crimp connectors... Matrix is just solder one diode in one pin of each button and solder wires. https://oshpark.com/profiles/Debolestis/page/2 -
VKB GLADIATOR NXT - Entry Level Taken to the NXT Level
Sokol1_br replied to UIV's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
aleader, You are comparing sticks in different prices category. NXT Premium price is $150 (vkbcontrollers.com - USA) Warthog is $280 (stick only in Dell.com - USA) NXT has better gimbal than Warthog whose gimbal suffer from stiction. NXT has more buttons on grip and more axes than Warthog. Warthog has better "real look" and grip shells is in metal (cheap Zamac), case this two features are important for you. - Warthog can be upgraded with VKB and VirPil "high end" bases. Don't know if NXT can be used in "high end" VKB base. But your local market can make the prices equals, with Warthog available locally and NXT requiring pay shipping and import fees. Then is a personal choice. -
Hall effect sensor Question
Sokol1_br replied to Sierra99's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Is 1N4148 - happens that 8 near a ) result in 8) BTW - This drawing is what means "(diode) button matrix" (using BU0836A matrix as example) and diode placement. Is simple for few buttons, but a "spider web" for many. For wire this 8 buttons was used 6 Columns x 2 Rows ( allow connect up to 12 buttons), notice the sharing in some wires. -
Hall effect sensor Question
Sokol1_br replied to Sierra99's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You have two options for wire buttons: "button matrix" and Shift Register; If use button matrix need diodes (1N4148 ), one for each button used. Other option is use Shift Register circuit, CD4021 or 74HC165, each i/c control 8 buttons - you chain various for more buttons. For those is need resistor, but in "net" format - a row of 9, and PCB. How to make realistic WWII era trim wheels?
Sokol1_br replied to tapi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Could be fun "reinvent the wheel" in that way, :) but geared potmer already exist, the called "multi turn potentiometer" with 3, 5 and 10 turns. https://potentiometers.com/select_multi.cfm -
Yes, but custom code is not suitable for GrooveGameGear card. ;)

Gear level - Bodnar BU0836A card- switch 2 positions
Sokol1_br replied to Razorback's topic in Home Cockpits
A two positions switch (SPST): ON-OFF don't send electrical information for BU0836 when toggled for OFF position, neither BU0836 recognize this change, so the card send nothing for Windows/game. DCS at least allow you edit LUA files and add command for OFF state (0) of command. How edit LUA files is explained there: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89226 But if instead you use a (DPDT) ON-OFF-ON switch will have button press in UP (ON) and down (ON) and can assign this two buttons for raise and lower landing gear. The second pins row (DP) can be used for lit a LED depending or switch position. https://i.postimg.cc/sXnXK5FN/BU0836-LED.jpg -
VKB GLADIATOR NXT - Entry Level Taken to the NXT Level
Sokol1_br replied to UIV's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Is configurable like any other DInput joystick, in DCS module (or other game) controls select an control under joystick name (NXT) press a button, hit OK, done. However you can use (once) VKB DevCfg (what is not a keyboard emulator like TARGET, Manager, Joystick Gremlin but a firmware configurator) for set "modes" and "shifts", e.g. if Pinky button is pressed and hold button 10 became momentarily button 51, etc (what games with old Dimput 32 buttons limit can't use). For games with dumb joystick support (like il2:GB series) you can use Joystick Gremlin for create different profiles for different planes. This keymapper software require keep running in game background (Like Target, Manager...). DCS world allow buttons as "Shift" (momentary modifier) and "Mode" (permanent modifier) direct in game controls, besides set controls per plane, so use keymapper like Joystick Gremlin is rarely need. -
MMjoySetup don't require an Arduino connected for start, but he identify all USB devices plugged in your computer. Some of this device that you have plugged are causing the error.
