Please forgive my ignorance on this but, what exactly is this option called? How do I implement it? I have bad vision and wear glasses made specifically for the PC. Even with these, I was unable to see what other guys on TeamSpeak clearly called out to me. I'd love to get in the game as sharply as the rest.

Jettisoned Missiles Shouldn't Tumble, Right?
HeadHunter52 replied to Frisco1522's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Jetted missiles are not "active". They do not have any guidance awake and in control. On terminal approach to ground targets, they have enough speed for guidance to control flight. But a sleeping missile is nothing more than a tube. No forward weight bias to make it act like a dart... tumble is what I'd expect to see. A2A missiles are generally powered all through flight, so I also expect them to tumble when sleeping and quiet. -
I'm glad it's free. But ya know? These guys have to make some cash at some point. I won't complain about modules. I bought the NTTR, even though it's a ways off. If ED produces more Allied WWII aircraft, I'll buy them, too. Seriously, I know I plop down $30 - $40 for other "toys" with no issue. Same thing should be in play for the add-ons. DCS basic program was free - still is. But the WORK they put into this was HUGE. If I see someone bitching about module prices I'm just going to laugh at them and their twisted sense of balance.

Mike has it. Start at minimum config and add tings back one at a time, and you'll KNOW which is hitting you. Just be sure to be patient and try the same thing after each up-tick in settings. You'll find it.... or them....

First impressions of 1.5 Beta
HeadHunter52 replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Previously, firing the 6 .50s on the Mustang would create a FPS drop from 40ish to high teens if it was a long drawn out burst. Worse with clouds in view, and forget it with the mirror activated. I run ONLY 8GB RAM and a lowly GTX 750 (so low powered, it draws its current from the PCIe bus with no external connectors.) My rig is a low budget deal. Well, with 1.5, I run 50 FPS or higher, and get only a modest drop when the guns light up. Oh, and when they light up, they do it quite visually - there is a beeeauuuuuutiful yellow glow from the guns. Actually, quite amazing detail. I'm going to try it in an early morning mission when possible. The ocean is also quite stunning near shore, where the deep green of shallow waters is now visible. Another note - I am running all settings at maximum. I may tune a little here and there to get even more FPS, but 1.5 it a sea change in the sim world. Guys like me can now fly without "framing out". Thanks ED. I can put off the 970 for a while, now. My lil Core 2 Duo has been given a break and is loving life. -
First impressions of 1.5 Beta
HeadHunter52 replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
mtbkrgt78 had my fix. Seems that even thought it appeared to be in full screen mode, it wasn't. RAlt + Enter forces full screen, and the mic and ShadowPlay indicators came back. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2494710&postcount=4 -
This fixes the ShadowPlay issue as well. Thanks!

First impressions of 1.5 Beta

Anyone lose ShadowPlay with this release? I've seen a video made with it, but I can't get the option to appear in game. Running full screen... -
It appears DCS 1.5 will not work with ShadowPlay. You can still get the FPS counter, but the indicator for ShadowPlay is absent. Newest driver will not bring it back. Checked settings - all are correct. Another user reports the same issue on this build.

DCS World's WWII Accessibility
HeadHunter52 replied to shadepiece's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
It has been done. The P-51 lua is alterable for convergence and ammo type. Problem is, it only works in SP. MP craps out with the file integrity check. -
Power Supply Choices

Thanks, guys. I believe I'm going for a 750w. I'll check reviews (stars) around the net for reliability and other items. I appreciate the feedback. -
Old Gigabyte MOBO RAM compatability
HeadHunter52 replied to HeadHunter52's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I had a funny thing happen. My machine blue screened, and two other times locked. I was a little concerned until I found that I had OC'd the thing faster than I thought. I wanted 3.6, but had it set to 3.9. I didn't increase voltages, and I believe that's what caused the locks. I was wondering, duh!, why it would get so hot! So anyway, 3.6 on air, and it's running great. After a few more run /shutdown cycles, I'll think about going up to 3.9. I understand that Arctic Silver needs those cycles to cure?? New to this stuff.... -

DoW Server: DarkHeart Op DarkHeart is a high altitude bomber escort mission for the P-51, and running on the Dogs of War WWII server. This is an outtake from one of the early runs of this new mission.

I built a system using a MOBO several years old, a Gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR. The story is long, but the decision revolved around an overclock option for a E8600 Core 2 Duo. There was limited compatibility info for RAM used on this thing. I took a chance. On the off chance that you have a beast like this, and are looking for some good memory, I am using: G-Skill Part# F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM. It is DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 4GB x 2. DCS runs fine with this 8GB setup at 3.6Ghz on my E8600.

Sorry about your boy. No parent should ever have to bury a child. Your grieving period is your to experience and no time limit is set on it. By going ahead with this, you are honoring him. I'm sure he would understand your timing and respect your efforts. Sound like a good place to hang a plaque, with his name laser cut into it, perhaps with one of his mottos or sayings. Nice job on the assembly. Looks like a good place from which to battle, or jsut have some memory joy flights.

Still waiting. Funds in the bank are getting dusty, and need to be applied to a Jug purchase, or I'll start in on the whiskey jug.......
