-
Schön, dass das da steht. Funktionieren tut es dennoch nicht.
-
Very funny.
-
-
These are very disappointing news for someone who was bought the Supercarrier module for the F-14 and does not own the F/A-18.

Does it not even lock onto bullets? And thats a very unique feature of the F-14 in DCS.

None of the shown videos have strobes in them per the definition of the regulating bodies. All of them are beacon lights, which may be red or white and are placed on top or bottom of the aircraft, or both. Strobes are always placed at the far ends of the aircraft, so left and right wingtip and tail. The difference is mainly procedural. Most of the videos shown are rather recent and today with most aircraft lighting converted to LED, the visible difference between beacons and strobes is nearly gone. However I would prefer not to have all LED lights in an Il-76 or An-26, as that would look pretty stupid in a 1980's setting or earlier. The MiG-29 video shows a NATO modification. The original one does not even have a beacon light, as most Russian aircraft. So in DCS context, this should only be present on the MiG-29G.

I dont think any of the heavy / transport aircraft we have in DCS actually has strobes. Not sure about the C-130 though, but very sure on Il-76, An-26 and Yak-40.

Just as a thought, the F-14 fuel gauge has an error of 600lbs, which is AFAIK simulated. Apart from that, fuel level gauges are generally very unreliable and usually do not compensate for density changes.

Oh great, the next developer with Discord as their main method of communication.

The most realistic approach with what currently may be done in DCS is, that turning this switch on, will disable the IFF. So that if someone else tries to interrogate the MiG-21, its return will be either unknown or hostile.

Hi, recently I stumbled upon the IFF of the MiG-21 in a German aviation forum. Besides some really cool pictures of the inside of the IFF code block, it also had a lot of information regarding the ИЗД 81Э. The ИЗД 81Э (called Type 81 IFF in DCS) was retrofitted after it became apparent, that the enemy was quite aware of the function of the current WarPac IFF and its codes. This was a quick patch, which included a small block attached to the regular IFF block in not only the MiG-21, but many other aircraft. After activation by the switch in the cockpit, it would modify the IFF return by the aircraft with a fixed logic. If I understand correctly, it actually just inverts the set code. This system would only be activated by the pilot, after a specified codeword was transmitted by ground control. Its purpose probably being, that once it became known, that the enemy is using your own IFF codes, you could fastly switch to a new unknown IFF return. Therefore it was strictly forbidden to use this switch in any other situation and the switch would be secured by copper wire. Retrofit of this system was mid 80's in the GDR by the way. Now for the MiG-21 in DCS, this switch functions as an ON/OFF switch for the radar IFF itself, which of course is not realistic. Here is my source (in German): https://www.flugzeugforum.de/threads/freund-feind-kennung.57650/page-4 I know this is only an aviation forum and no literature, but it actually has a lot of knowledge by former NVA pilots and technicians and therefore is a great read if your interested in aircraft used by the NVA and you are able to read German. If I can find any literature regarding this system, I will add it to this thread.

Na endlich :D

You overstressed the pylon. Land and repair. Oh and this does not belong in the bug section.

Ohne Steam kannst du beide Versionen parallel benutzen.

The RWR will be the most relevant for A2A.

The Cat version in DCS and the A-7E did not ever share the deck, mostly because the A-7E was phased out five years before our F-14B came along (I am not talking about the F-14B in general). In my oppinion an mid 70's A-7E would be preferrable due to its use in Vietnam and the availability of more modules from that era now and in the near future, which would be the F-8J, the MiG-23MLA, the MiG-21bis, eventually the F-14A, the MiG-19P, the F-4E when it ever will arrive and some more like the Bronco and the Mirages announced.

There are two general keyboard functions for a flashlight and a red light. The red light in the JF-17 is toggled by the flashlight function, you probably used the red light one. This is just a guess though ;) .

What established standard? Your list alone shows that this is not an established standard. Three modules have introduced a reverse logic of the three position switches. Why should all others be updated to that (unintuitive) new way. All other modules may have inconsistencies, but all general follow the old, left click fwd/up logic. By the way, your assesment of the MiG-21 is even wrong, as right click will give you a clockwise motion of all rotary switches.
-
There was a former standard: -Rotaries right click clockwise; left click counterclockwise -Three position switches left click forward or upward; right click back or downward -Two position toggle either right or left click The MiG-21 completely follows that logic, as does the JF-17, the MiG-15, the MiG-19, the Viggen (although that one does not have any three position AFAIK), the Yak-52 and probably a lot more that I don't own. Its the three teen fighters which are wrong in my oppinion.

Red Flag Rumble February - - Mig21 & Mig19 vs F5 & AJS37

The tracks were mostly fixed some updates ago. AFAIK it is only some modules (F-14?!) which still corrupt the tracks. And by the way, thank you Alpenwolf for the tracks. Shows how blind I am regarding my 6 :D .
