  1. +1 yas
  2. i'm pressing the Microb button and holding it forever
  3. Ever figure this out? I can't get the missile to attack a ship in single player either with a simple ME mission
  4. I launched a C-802 in direct mode to a waypoint about 50 miles away. As you can see in the screenshot my aim was pretty good as the missile is very close to the enemy ships. However it did not attack the ship, simply flew right over. I thought launching in this way the missile will seek out an enemy ship near the SPI? null
  5. this is great to hear. I wonder what he means when he says "improve the artwork". think that means better graphics and textures?
  6. unfortunately I don't think AI has any more desire to live here in the future 2024. i keep running them into the ground when I get behind them
  7. just ran into this problem with a simple mission i set up to fight two bogeys on 'trained' skill level. every time they crash straight into the ground when trying to avoid my fire. sometimes down a full 90 degrees straight into the ocean. it's very suicidal and takes away the joy of getting the kill yourself. this literally happens to me every time, it's a problem
  8. I'm following Chuck's guide and got a plane locked and 530's selected. I see the double circle so I'm pressing and holding Microb button...but nothing happens. Can anyone see in my screenshot why I can't launch the missile? null
  9. thanks. my brain can't handle all the science behind it. i did get an 80nm ping but it worked in VS, TWS, and RWS. I didn't see VS as having further distance luck in my little experiment
  10. yup just noticed this as well. guess the assumption is hot start won't be near the runway but more of a in a parking spot
  11. ah that's what I was missing. I didn't know the different main tasks actually changed what sort of subtasks you are allowed to enable. i'll try this out
  12. I'm simply wanting a couple jets to escort another jet along it's route and defend it if necessary. I was looking for an "escort" or "defend" task type but only see 'strafing', 'orbit', 'follow', and 'aerobatics'. How can you get a flight to escort and defend another flight? In additional, how can you change the engage distance? I don't want the escort planes to fly 100 miles away to defend their escortee. Thanks for the help.
  13. thanks for the reply, although i probably understood 15% of what you said
  14. ah thanks for the reply. was hoping they'd had added an additional axis command or something
  15. i just ran into this issue on my setup. when rotating the radar control axis the radar control constantly moves up or down. it's almost impossible to get it to stay centered with a normal joystick that most of us have. has anyone found a fix for this? it's a big bummer that it doesn't work easily with normal setups
  16. roger, thanks
  17. yep this tracks almost exactly with what I experienced. I didn't know about this amazing performance feature, what a cool cold war-era issue to have to look out for in flight
  18. just picked up the F16 after a long hiatus and this issue was the first thing I noticed i googled the symptoms and was immediately directed right back to this old thread. i read through the whole thing and doesn't look like we ever go an answer about this after 4 years. anyone ever figure this out?
  19. Wondering what the max radar return range on VS mode is? I am at FL32 with a 747 90nm in front of me. At what point should my VS radar pick it up and show me?
  20. i've been flying just now with S530 + sidewinder jul and it all seemed to work decently well. getting a sidewinder lock was hard as I read it only locks at the very top of the HUD. once it gets locked and you uncage it's a little easier to track. i'll try with Magic 2 and see if it's any better
  21. I'm chasing down a 747 to attack at FL350 without radar so I'm looking for the large engine exhaust plumes to help me spot it. Well turns out you have to be pretty close to the plane before the exhaust plumes are rendered, which means it took me much longer to spot the plane than it should have. View from cockpit not zoomed: View from cockpit zoomed in 1 click on mouse wheel: entire exhaust plume instantly drawn: As you can see from the screenshot the exhaust plume is extremely helpful in spotting targets far away. However it seems like the draw distance of the plume isn't very long compared to how it should be. Does anyone know of a way to increase this draw distance?
  22. ah the S530 is the better one, good to know. and by the IR version being same as sidewinder meaning they're both IR and use same lock-on technology and same lock-on behavior in DCS?
  23. I was playing an intercept mission so I was full AB up to FL320 with a full load of missiles. I could only get up to about mach 1.3 with this configuration. I approached my targets, and as soon as I disengaged the AB the whole plane started to shake violently while straight and level. Then the warning lights call came on and the engine shut down. Is it supposed to behave this way? Why would shutting off the AB cause the engine to explode? How should you slow down then, using air brakes?
  24. I haven't flown my tomcat for a long time because I didn't like the Jester. However I heard it's a lot better with the Phantom and easier to use. Is this the case with the Tomcat now as well or no?
  25. I see two different radar missiles R530 vs S530 but unsure the differences? I looked at Chuck's guide but couldn't tell. ALso there's a R530 IR which is just heat seaking, right? So same as sidewinders?
