  1. Hi Andy, check for double binds as I had that when I converted from X52 to TM Warthog and MFG Crosswind pedals...several of my binds where mingled together and I had to delete the assignments I didn't want. You may also want to disable keyboard commands you don't plan to use. Good luck mate!
  2. Yep, those are Travel Pods...or TDY Pods as we called them in my Eagle and Viper Days...it kept us from ending up stranded somewhere without civilian attire although the flight suit at the bar was a hit with the ladies! In regard to multiple fuel tanks, in my 20 years, I never saw a Viper or an Eagle with 3 tanks unless it was a ferry flight across the pond. Most CAP over the Persian Gulf was 2 tanks for Vipers and eagles and we did local sorties (training) with one tank. Finally, although you can find photos on the web of 3 tank configs and centerline empty pylons, our Eagles and Vipers never flew with the center pylon unless something was attached to it. (1982-2002) Push it up! JUICE
  3. Thank you for sharing this! I went along with a respected fellow pilot that we should wait for VR version 2.0 with the REVERB and I'm really hopeful that some company focuses on mastering "Seated Simulation" customers like driving and flight sims. The sky is literally the limit! Cheers Gunslinger AUS
  4. Good topic!! I have the Huey, Mustang, Hornet and Viper and then the FC3 and Combined Arms. For the Hornet and the Viper, I try to map similar common functions like speed brake and gear and flaps (when needed) to the same HOTAS bind. However, I really try to use the Aircraft Dash 1 (Viper/USAF) and the NATOPS Manual (Hornet/USN) to map the buttons on the HOTAS to match the same as the airplane. The commonly known factor of "negative transfer" is where one learned muscle memory or procedure is incorrectly applied to another platform or process and causes a problem. This is sometimes fatal in the world of Human Factors and Aviation. In DCS, it's just a learning curve as we don't die from our mistakes. To overcome this, I do what my USAF and Civil Aviation Training has taught me. If I haven't flown a particular aircraft in a while, I do what I call a check flight, something that I approach like there was an instructor on the ride and for me, I become the student and instructor. Sometimes, I have another DCS Pilot in my unit who is "Current" in the airframe go up with me and act as the IP to requal me on that jet or a particular task in the jet. This only works if you treat DCS as a simulator and not a game. To each is own. Sorry for the diversion...but best thing to do is open your controls and hit the keybind that default affects that result and then map the desired function to your HOTAS. Often the "Search" option can help you find what you are looking for...but when in doubt use Google and the community. I have both aircraft so feel free to ask me if I might be able to help out. 5. As is the evidence that the Hornet is further along in development to the Viper...even though they are cousins!
  6. Is your Joystick base level to avoid leverage from the weight of the joystick mass above the arm?
  7. I notice that they are very faint and visible when really close to the ship...but all in all, the progress (when not totally broken) is awesome!
  8. That is sweet, wait, did your wife make you move it to the Laundry Room?
  9. So the Stennis will have the new features as well? Bonus, we don't really need the Carrier Module if the Stennis does everything that the others do so well...thanks Eagle Dynamics! Cheers, all!
  10. Post some stats on your new PC, OS, type of USB, 32 or 64 bit, etc. Have you tried a different USB port on the same machine to see? https://windowsreport.com/windows-10-doesnt-recognize-usb/ Also see this, https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160637
  11. I don't know if this is related, but I noticed since about two updates ago, if I alt tab to another monitor while DCS is loading, it freezes on the Black Screen with DCS World Logo and sticks there...causing me to have to Task Manager close the program. This is different from the PTT causing product activation glitch that I'm sure others have noticed.
  12. For WWII Tail-draggers, be sure to get a decent set of Rudder Pedals...I used to fly with a Twist-Stick and that was not as effective as real pedals! Be sure to give gracious curves and deadzones and practice some high-speed taxi tests, watch lots of trailers, and go up with an instructor pilot sometime.
  13. Check to see if your Oxygen Mask hose or G-Suit hose is hanging over the side of the canopy rail...if so, have it checked about by Aircrew Equipment Techs!
  14. It's a good idea to place all third-party missions and missions you create yourself in your users/"PC NAME"/savedgames/dcs.openbeta(or other version)/Missions folder. Updates from ED and potential file corruption could occur if you mix them in with mission files.
  15. The path you have in your Saved Games folder is correct. You place the MOD folder in the path as you described, but then you have to go to your Module Manager on the Main Menu and activate it. It's under the INSTALLED tab. Slide the button to the right and restart the mission. It's probably a good idea to have the MODs installed and activated before creating missions with MODs and running others missions with them as well.
  16. If I bought the F-14, I'd probably just mount it on a stick in my front yard.
  17. Try this, load two identical bombs on the corresponding stations of both wings...set the release to pair or multiples of 2 and drop them and see if you have any trim issues. The Viper, like most of the other advanced flight model aircraft is subjected to weight and balance issues as in the real world...and this is a great thing! If you drop two bombs at say 250Ft interval, you'll notice the aircraft roll to the second bomb side temporarily and after bomb number 2 is gone, you should be able to pull back to level without trimming the aircraft.
  18. And remember, if you Eject over water, your capsule works as a boat!
  19. Happy Holidays Everyone! https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcQIigz6vrdFwz5NHau4bBP95E0TYIOSoFu5Fp_UPmXin42sPPdt
  20. I use the Boat Switch on the TM Warthog as the Dogfight Button...Pull back for in-close guns or AIM-9 Heaters, Push forward for MRM AIM7/AIM120 engagement. Position middle returns to NAV mode. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/fa/F-16_Throttle.jpg/440px-F-16_Throttle.jpg https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fe/F-16_Side_Stick_Controller.jpg
  21. Sorry to run on this thread, but you are very spot on! When we see previous problems that were fixed two updates ago reappear and have to be hotfix patched, we're seeing that the hand off of fixes and span of control has become difficult because there is too much volume in the pipeline and stuff happens... Project management with teams and a Quality Control person is needed to check fixes and watch out for recurrent bugs that slipped in during a supposed update. The process needs to be modernized like a money-making company would have to stay in business. Call it growing pains, but I think ED leadership has it in them, they just need to invest in structure and quality to make it happen. If you build it, they will fly it.
  22. Agreed, but most of us are not smart enough to stop buying modules that aren't finished for a couple of years, nor do we appreciate the mastery of a few planes, but instead opt for a water'd down proficiency of all the aircraft in the name of arcade fun. I wish there was a way to Thumbs Up a post instead of replying...I'd Thumbs Up all of you...but we'd better be quiet or externally imposed discipline will come... Best strategy is to find one or two airplanes you can become an expert in, and master the employment of those weapon systems within the capability parameters allowed within the game engine, module quality, and your own hardware limitations and personal skills. Enjoy the suck!
  23. Seems like all the DCS Modules are Pre-Purchase quality these days...but our dollars go a long way to improve the many, many modules available and the Devs will retire in style for sure. I heard they updated the Fuel Flow on the Harrier so you don't run out of gas so soon...that's a plus!
