Lee, do you know if anyone is working on a USN Adversary skin...I know it's not the same model as in DCS (F-16N is a Block 30 small-mouth viper) but it would be great for Red Air Training against NATOPS assets!
-
Yep, you pretty much have the energy and the available runway to just power up and rotate safely!
-
And if you have any realistic Crosswinds on landing and approach, the rudders can help greatly. As wags what he uses for Rudders...I think he mapped it to one of his HOTAS buttons! As for rudder use, I use them all the time in low speed aerial maneuvers while dogfighting...you can get by for a while, but long term, I'd get them for sure! What are you using for head tracking?

And I thought my bad flying with the Mustang was just me!

The only workaround is to remove the tanks on rearming then when complete, reinstall them and they will be filled. Just takes a little extra time. Sorry BN, your response came in just as I posted mine...cheers! Juice da AV8R

I agree with the request and as clarified by BigNewy, an enterable (Combined Arms Required) Designator, or even a ManPad for that consideration, would be great, however, most of us probably set the unit to invisible as the AI at any intelligence level can spot and destroy the observer, even if we hide him in a bush.

@BuzzU - No Fair, Airshows don't count! LOL

DCS Wishlist - F-16N Skins for Navy Aggressors
JUICE-AWG replied to JUICE-AWG's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Cool, Block 30, small mouth viper! :pilotfly: -
Can early access Hornet/Tomcat purchasers get a discount for this module? When will it be available for PreBuy and about how much?

Taking bets on what comes out next... 1) The Free Mediterranean Terrain Map 2) The Super Carrier Module 3) The MI-24 HIND 4) The AT-6 Texan 5) The F-4U Corsair remember, only two more weeks! JUICE

I built a new 8700K system with 1080Ti last year, 32gb ram at 3000mhz and I used to have the 2600 (K version with 980FTW card and 1600mhz ram in 4x4 dims. Honestly, you're looking at doing a total new build. But mainly, consider doing a 250gb SSD M.2 NVME for OS only and put everything else on SSDs and use a 1TB HDD for storage of photos, documents, stuff. My DCS runs great on a dedicated 500gb SSD and I have 3-4 other SSDs with STEAM Games, Bohemia Interactive games, and one 180SSD is just for STEAM Utility and other stuff like Discord, CombatFlite, CoreTemp, HeadTracker, Open Office, JSGME, and any other utilities that would normally clog up your CDrive. Today, the only thing I'd do differently is get a 1TB drive for DCS for the swap space needed for updates. And read up on your potential MoBo, if you put a bunch of NVME M.2 SSDs, you may lose PCI or SATA slots for other drives. www.pcpartpicker.com can help you place the items together and spot any potential incompatibility. Looks like you already have a good start!! Good luck!

Nah, just like training on REDAIR to provide a manageable barrier to the mission without overwhelming the strike/cap packages. :pilotfly:

RAM 2x16GB vs 8x8GB.. any suggestions?
JUICE-AWG replied to sirrah's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Unless your or planning to add another 2x16 for a total of 64, 4x8 is best! -
Any chance Simple COMM is turned off in USER settings/EDITOR Options? If so, be sure to use the advanced COMM modifiers of Right ALT for COMM 1 and Right CTRL for COMM 2. Cheers, JUICE

Hi there, I have mapped the Hook Switch for the VIPER to the up and down inputs on the Warthog to the LASTE panel, lower right toggle switch (AutoPilot) and it seems that the mappings are modeled in reverse in the jet. Although the external hook animation is still INOP, the switch in the cockpit moves in the opposite direction...Can someone else test this and confirm or debunk plz?

NOTE: I reposted this in the ED Forums » English » Digital Combat Simulator » DCS: F-16C Viper » Controllers & Input Bugs Section, can someone delete this post here please? I thought of that too, but when he had initial COMM from the JTAC, it ceased after a while...that makes me think that his JTAC was overun by the enemy and destroyed the vehicle. I had this happen to me before.

Did you make your JTAC Invisible...it sounds like the enemy AI saw him and killed him to me!

I'm hearing the Reverb is the top dog at the moment.

In my days launching and recovering F-15C and F-16C jets, we never had a pilot Taxi with the Canopy open. But in the RF-4C and F-5E, it was common on fair-weather days to see them open. It basically depends on the aircraft and what the dash-1 recommends. Considerations include: - Disruption of the Ejection Sequence if needed on a zero/zero emergency punch-out! - FOD potential from items being sucked out of the cockpit and into the intakes. - Noise and weather conditions. - Canopy Hinge Hardware Issues and turning loads or wind considerations. - On taxi out, it saves time if ATC pushes you for a rolling takeoff request to expedite the traffic flow. My immersion factor in DCS is based upon "What does the real-world procedures call for" and so for me, knowing what the aircraft manuals and local guidelines dictate helps guide my simulation procedures. That data is available to the average Joe and fun to follow. JUICE

Find an F-16C Navy Aggressor Skin and I fly REDAIR for ya!

It would be interesting to see the sales numbers by modules...maybe a chart showing each one and total units sold.

 What he said...you'll see that your indicated airspeed may vary slightly if flying AoA no matter what your weight and config is...although your ground speed will vary greatly. Always try to land into the wind when there is wind.

You should get used to it as you will see that it will loosen up over time and get a sweet-spot feeling eventually. Mine only took a couple of months. The stiffness is mostly due to the difference from your last controller maybe. But you want that snap back to neutral as the Warthog is the best in consumer design level products at such a low price point. I can't speak as to VirPil or VKB but for the price of the TM WH COMBO HOTAS, you only get one of the other half of their controllers. The big challenge will be setting your curves and dead-zones for each aircraft. For the Hornet and Viper, I have custom LUAs to manage the inputs and functions. If you have the room and can set it up, consider using an extension and the tension on the spring will seem like nothing....#leverage! JUICE
