Totally agree...perhaps the field of munitions can have a compartmental area for training weapons and pods. Cheers! :joystick:

I second that...at least until the KC-46 Pegasus comes to DCS!:pilotfly: -
I would get another 16GB of matching RAM and you should get a new H110 Corsair Cooler and make sure you do the Thermal Paste perfectly. Your system is pretty decent for DCS. Also, ensure that you have cool air coming in from the bottom front and back and try to exhaust hot air up through the top. Us one of those heat vent deflectors to push the air away from you under your desk or next to your monitor.
-
Did you set up your HOTAS with some deadzone and curves for Pitch, Roll, and Yaw?
-
Thrustmaster should just end the Confusion and sell a Viper HOTAS updated from the old Cougar to the latest technology in flight controllers and sell it as the TM VIPER, then they should develop the Hornet HOTAS using their new stick attachment to reveal the TM HORNET, and finally, make some TDC updates, fix some of the more frequent systems that failed in the last 10 years for quality (whichever functions failed more than they should have), and rebrand it as the TM WARTHOG. Realistically, any DCS Multi-Module Owner just needs a Thrustmaster Military looking Dual Throttle Quadrant Unit with adequate 2 and 3 position toggles, sliders, and buttons that can be programmed in each position, and users can pick the Stick (or Sticks) they want to own for their favorite jets. Personally, I use the base Warthog for everything, Viper, Hornet, FC3, Mustang, Huey, and it works for me.

You know, the gas is cheap in DCS. But if you need to go a far distance away, or need longer hang time in the air, then higher is better with a conservative cruise climb to altitude. But if radar threats or visual contrail concerns are a factor, medium altitude can help you extend your endurance and offer you a high "JOKER" fuel state. If you're doing something like a RED FLAG exercise, you will be assigned a block altitude to de-conflict with other traffic in the package. Set up your missions so you have a tanker track available off your orbit track if you are holding station between two or three waypoints and drop down at 50% of total mission start fuel for 3-5K offload occasionally on a 3-4 hour mission. Don't forget your piddle pack! Remember, minimum shutdown fuel by AFI is usually 1,100 pounds, so you should be in the overhead at about 2K...that's probably why DCS set the default Bingo at 2,000 lbs. Anyone know where I can get a burned jetfuel candle for my SIM Room?

What speed is your 16GB of RAM? In September of 2018, I went from the 4790 (non-K) with 16GB of 1600 RAM to an 8700K Six-Cores at 4.4 Ghz w/32 GB (4X8) DDR4 at 3000 Mhz Speed RAM. Here's the thing, are you going to just get more RAM for your 4790K? If so, what's the highest 32GB Speed it will run? I agree with Fitness88, I had the same benefit, but also with dburne, DCS is evolving and I went with 32GB @ 3000Mhz because I host MP a lot...for me it was a YES need to get it. The extra will likely buy you more time as DCS evolves and requires more resources like Deck Crew Animations, Visual Effects. If you get the RAM, I hope you spring for a 1080Ti or newer, you'll love it!

The Kuznetsov unfortunately is in sad shape. It's been in dock for ages and recently had a massive fire that killed one person. For the past few years, hit has had to travel with a few tug boats for when it breaks down and has to be towed to repairs. But the one in DCS is Full Mission Capable and should be sailing past you soon.

RE: Aircraft Deck Sliding Tests...interesting results. As you can see in these videos linked below, the UH-1H rocks and rolls around the deck on every platform, Tarawa, Stennis, Chosin, Rentz, except after engine shutdown and nearing rotor stop. And each time, after starting up, the sliding resumes. I don't fly the Tomcat but I've hosted teammates on our MP Host server with the F-14B and it slides around like a clawless cat in a hockey game. If you notice, the last video is of the Hornet and it sticks like glue to the deck all the time when not being moved by thrust. I tested it with no brakes, parking brake, chocks, and all three and same result every time. Maybe something in the Hornet coding is the key...Cheers! I haven't gotten my Mustang to talk to Tower Yet even with the ME setup for A-D channels programmed to the tower freqs. Do I have to set another switch in the aircraft to get the frequency to work...I've been using VHF freqs.

I noticed the other day that the Huey slides around on the Tarawa until the engines and rotors spool all the way down and I wonder if powered up units vs shut down ones is something to look at? Once my Huey completely shut down, the sliding ceased. It stops sliding even before the Rotors finishing winding down. Going to test it on the Stennis next, then the other ships. I just uploaded a video of it. Speed up to 4:45 on the video (Or Enjoy the Whole Ride) =JUICE=

The AR Lights work for me, but I only see the light illuminate the basket in daytime...will have to try the KC-130/135MPRS sometime. Look at 12:30 and beyond in this video...the light shows up in daytime.

BRING ON the WWII Pacific Carrier Based Aircraft and the Hornet (CV-8), Yorktown (CV-10), Wasp (CV-7) and at least one Japanese Carrier! P47 F4U TBF Avenger Mitsubishi Zero I feel like we're half way there!

Salute! I hope it comes and I hope it's Multi-Crew, all three positions! I'm in the middle of the book Destiny and Power by Jon Meacham. A good read and too bad they spent very little time on his service and infamous flight that landed him in the ocean and on a submarine for a while. Here's a short video to highlight his flight service. =JUICE=

I get the same thing on PG map with sea fog...it only does it at higher altitudes...settings are all high/ultra with maxed view distance and preload radius...I basically run the same settings as Wags on my 8700k/32gbRAM@3000mhz/1080Ti Rig. 27inch G-Sync 1440p/144hz, FaceTrackNOIR w/Logitech C270 Webcam Could it be a Persian Gulf map issue? By the way, how to we embed videos in our posts? =JUICE=

I've been running DCS for over a year on my 8700K and 1080Ti with 32gb or DDR4 3000mhz RAM and everything runs great on ultra and high with excellent 1440p/144hz settings and they have been improving the optimization...I agree with Pilotasso, it's too soon to replace the 8700K. But in your situation, you could build someone a decent rig with a new MOBO. Good Luck!

Huey Release Date Be sure to Vote! DCS: UH-1H Huey Aircraft Utility helicopter 1967 Belsimtek 19 April 2013 Released Professional Advanced
-
So the UH-1H Variant of the Huey that I own in DCS wasn't complete? I'm still waiting for the updates to the Hornet and Viper so I hope in a few years, they don't want to sell me upgrades for those when they will still be the same variant and block models...and say they upgrade the F-16C from the block 50 to the block 52...I wouldn't expect to pay for that either.
-
Don't pay for something you already own! I'm wondering how many of the "YES" votes are actually for just simple skin and texture upgrades? @Wakeshift, I Couldn't have said it better! But still, vote in the Poll so your vote is counted...and to all, whether you post comments or not, please vote. Continued development and improvements of existing platforms should be included with the original price of the module...unless we have the option at the beginning to purchase the "Extended Warranty Program" which is usually not needed with most purchases. Once we own a module, further superficial advancement of that product should be included. Huey Venom would be great, but also all the H-60 variants would be awesome too! Here's my favorite helicopter: https://defpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/HH-60-Pave-Hawk-in-Afghanistan-e1521697733812.jpg

Although I'm sure ED could do it, it would lead to further corrosive action by the saltwater spray and the deck, tiedowns and jets would rust out...then we'd have nothing to fly! But in serious consideration, great idea, I hope they do it...as well as frost effects in winter climates.

Does anyone know what the proper skin folder name is to setup the TF-51D custom skins in the saved games folder? Please and thanks! JUICE

This should be brought back into discussion! Now with the multi-crew capabilities emerging within DCS World, let's talk about making this a reality!

Plus an additional 2 Weeks I'm guessing! :pilotfly:
