    AIM-9X

    What a great capture!
  2. Yep. I was on the DDCS server... it's the only way to fly :)
  3. Agreed. I hit a Mirage yesterday with an AIM-7M that was fired when he was 23 miles away and about 1000 kts closure rate. I was at 18k ft, he was around 23K. I did not think it was going to connect at all, but was just trying to get him to be defensive...i don't think he thought it was going to connect either, which is why he didn't react... it's a whole new world for the SARH only servers :)
  4. Many systems on the F-18C and F-15C are classified, but we sill have the variants in game. I think the decision about doing or not doing the F-14 D variant is more about ROI and development time than whether a system is classified.
  5. What's not being mentioned here is that the Aim-7's missile's sensor gimbal is only 8 degrees. This means you HAVE to be far away in order to loft, or it will not be able to maintain guidance to target. It will have to head more straight at the target, because it can only fly 8 degrees off its own boresight.
  6. When you lock with the AIM-120 selected, it does change to STT lock. LTWS is a work in progress. This has been stated many times and in great detail. This is not a feature that exists in the real aircraft. You can switch to flood mode after the missile is fired, but you would have to do it manually. This may be a bug. i have not tested it specifically, but AACQ was working for me the other night. For something like this, you need to provide a track. There are many variables that come into play when talking about accuracy and missile failures. It's entirely possible that you broke lock before the missile went active. Work in progress. IFF and radar identification are both works in progress. There IS in fact rudimentary IFF, but it's unreliable at best.
  7. pretty sure you can set defaults for each weapon on the radar page, but i haven't flown in a few weeks...
  8. Can you smell, what the F-15 is cookin?
  9. When the F-15 gets tired, they droop a little... working as intended [NOT A BUG].
  10. I was thinking to myself, "I need a cancer screening," after reading the first page of posts...
  11. Agreed! This may be the best thread in the entire forum.
  12. He's talking about "maddog mode"... where the missle locks onto anything inside its boresight. Not the boresight ACM mode for the f-18. :)
  13. Care to source this statement?
  14. If only they'd change the accuracy from 22 mil to 8 like it should be (such an easy fricken fix)
  15. Yes. The AIM-7 is dependent on the radar's functionality for guidance, and it glitching the heck out will definitely affect it's efficacy in deployment.
  16. Agreed. If this is the radar working as intended, i want my money back. [WIP] should be in front of this thread, not [NOT A BUG]...
  17. Chromeboat? EDIT: Lol you beat me to it :)
  18. Are you using the x55?
  19. 1. Hold windows + R 2. type "cmd" 3. type "cd\(dcs directory path here)\bin" (for me it's cd\games\dcs\bin, but for most it's probably cd\program files\dcs\bin) 4. type "dcs_updater.exe update @openbeta" 5. Profit OMGERD!! DOS commands coming back to haunt me!!!
  20. It's gonna be fun :)
  21. Technically, the APU shouldn't run either with no fuel, which means your confusion is completely understandable. If there's a bug in this thread, it's that (which is already reported I believe)
  22. not everyone is on the same version?
  23. I know there are different internal builds, but if a fix is announced for the next patch in the "mini updates", shouldn't it also be listed in the update log?
  24. I'm telling you, the yaw induced from roll inputs will the the toughest challenge of landing the F-14, not the engines. The engines, especially in the "B", will be fine.
  25. This thread makes me happy. Needs more .avi and less .trk :)
