What are the capabilities of a MIDS comunication? for example range or LOS. Is it normaly used in combat or its more like a backup system? I know its encrypted. I guess its a digital signal instead of analog.

I don't believe this is true since the F18 is older and they are very dedicated to this module since a year now. The problem is they are focusing in one thing at a time while releasing multiple products in a short time frame.

You can't force it in multiplayer, you can cheat super easy now. Do you say when the mission its saved it forces this option for everyone?

I know, but there're 2 active developers on the F16, and they were working since february with the jdam/jsow. You don't need 30 people to work with the same thing to make it faster. With more reason, HUD symbology is shared between A-10C F18 and F16. The symbols are different but the functionality is the same. The symbols shouldn't take months to do.

I don't understand why it takes more than 4 months to add weapons that are already on the game, implemented years ago in other aircraft. I know its not easy and its not copy paste BUT some code should be compatible for faster development, it was the whole point of doing the F16 after the F18 since their capabilities are "similar".

Is taking 3 fuel tanks on a F-16 a good idea?

I usually go with 3, never had any issues with fuel. You have more fuel per consumption than the F18 and F14. Also I use the wing tanks first, so I'm lighter when doing bvr. -
17. Option for different filters for types of unit to be displayed on F10 map. When trying to find something on very cluttered map its impossible. 18. Option to force realistic sensors, for example no air to air missiles on F10 magic. 19. Shorter name tags, its impossible to read so looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong names with a very cluttered map. It should be a short type of unit tag.

Yeah, its nice, but that info came in february, 3 months ago. I thought the work in the F-18 would speed up the develop of the F-16 but it looks like everything needs to be done all over again.

The HARMS on the F18 loft like they know exactly where the radar is in TOO, which is weird but it may be right, I don't know. As I understand the HTS its a little bit more complex though, since it can share information through datalink. -

The H and specially the K are really good for buildings since you can ground stabilize from a greater distance. -
Yes, the HAS page has a faster cursor speed and its difficult sometimes to designate something.

Did you tried it in caucasus? sometimes its really easy to mistake a background texture from the ground with a tank! specially in BH, in WH not so much but still. Its not about "challenge". And yes all modules should be similar because its geting out of hand with all the disparities across all modules, from radar ranges, FLIR, same system or weapon simulation... -
Sometimes its impossible to distinguish a tank from a background texture and its almost useless. The only plane who has the worst TGP is the F-14 with its old LANTIRN. I know targeting pods aren't perfect but its so difficult sometimes, tanks blending with square textures in the back or glowing trees, plus the small mfd of the F16 makes a pain everytime I need to use it to search for vehicles. I know ED is doing the new FLIR but meanwhile I think this system could be impoved. How long is going to take the new FLIR? I guess it will be another "ground radar development" era, like 5 years and having just a better image quality while we wait would be nice.

Is it something it can be changed in cockpit? or is it harcoded on the DTC? Because having to have a group previously set in the mission editor is really bad for multiplayer missions with lots of players.

I don't understand, what about the F-5? Even if it doesn't have it why the F16 shouldn't have it? In reality you get Bullseye calls, BRAA its only used against HOSTILE in danger situations, BANDIT and no factor are Bullseye most of the time. BRAA calls only works for 1 aircraft and its no use for the rest of the coalition. With bullseye you make 1 call instead of 20+ BRAA calls. Even if the F-5 doesn't have it he should know his position and bullseye (roughly), if he doesn't then he is lost and/or has a bad situational awareness and should take care. This is really common in DCS since its difficult to learn and the community and/or ED don't help. It's a lot of practice, much more than anything else, that's why "modern" jets have it integrated in their systems. Mark is necessary since the ground battlefield is moving constantly, unless you only fly only static missions. If you don't want to hit friendlies you need to have a good comunication with the gound allies plus smoke is a good signal yes. Mark is fundamental for targets of opportunity and intelligence specially for a dynamic campaign and modern conflicts, so yes it's necessary unless you always target known locations with static targets like practices.

MARK IS necessary for us, since we fly a dynamic campaign. Also Bullseye to TDC is mandatory and the F16 doesn't have it atm. If you like to fly alone and only do some training its ok but forget it if you plan to fly seriously, its missing basic stuff.

I had a problem yesterday when in nav mode the steerpoint 5 was in a different location, whenever I changed to AG the steerpoint was correct but in nav still pointed to an incorrect location. I used the wp 5 before to strike that area and then changed the coordinates of that same wp to strike another target.

You can brake really hard in a straight line, once you start applying rudder to compensate, the braking starts to lose efficacy. Try to avoid drifts in runways and brake as straight as possible if you apply rudder for corrections apply less brake.

If we are very, very, VERY lucky we will get jdam. But don't expect much since all the developers are focused on the hornet, for almost a year now? I hope they finish the F18 when 2.7 arrives so they can focus on the F16 once and for all. -

Well, we can agree the F117 is unique, old, and retired... I'm not sure about the F-4G but the prowler, growler and Tornado use jammer pods, so 2 AGM88 have sense. I don't understand. I think its more because of US doctrine, something we will never have in DCS since its impossible to replicate it in a game.

So much hate for an optional loadout... For me the question is, why it can only fire 2 agm88 if it can fly with 4? The block 50 was supposed to be a SEAD platform, you don't make a bomber which can only drop 2 mk82.
