You get extra melodrama points if you can find where anybody besides you said any purchase hinges on it...

You'd end up with a lot of wasted effort, there's always areas on the model that have to be custom fitted, since the 2D texture gets stretched and wrapped around a 3D model. There's a whole lot of distortions going on and they need to be compensated for. Why they call it an art, takes some talent and a good eye to do it right. Not possible to do without the model to continually check your progress as you work, what looks good and right on the 2D map doesn't on the model. The developer is more clever than that.

The coloring of the airfield concrete is off, the buildings are correct for local sourced concrete material, the airfields are wrong. Been to Cairo West a few times a couple centuries ago and that was a very noticeable feature, so much so it was difficult to find the actual runway. At the time they had multiple decoy marked runways and taxi ways scratched into the sand, along with multiple derelict badgers and other obsolete aircraft parked as decoys. Here's a current day Cairo IAP as compared to in game, quite a notable difference.

Think the F-15 Release is/will have an Impact
Nodak replied to Czechnology's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
It had an impact on me, bought one yesterday, and will pay any toll for it's Grandpappy! -
Hope they have the windup sounds when the -60 starts and the huff when it gets an air load applied, would be cool as F. Those carts are exceedingly loud, especially when you have multiple carts on the line doing a mass start. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzPEMUrewQE

Will the seat have different modes? Such as automatic separation for preset altitude and speed and a pilot controlled manual separation.

If you've ever served in any military than you know in reality there is no such thing as a secret, there are however arrests and punishments for revealing information your not suppose to posses or deliberately gaining knowledge of things your not suppose to have access too.

Those are Oculus specific acronyms, Oculus Tool Tray - OTT, the app they're using to set super sampling in their headsets, and Asynchronous warp - ASW, the term their app uses for everyone else knows as reprojection. You might want to put in higher super sampling if your using some sort of down scaling effects first, that can deliver a comparable high quality image from a lower cost off the GPU in some HMD's.

Something not right about Pimax, try finding a new one, the only thing available is refurbished, you can't find a late model new one anywhere. Another red flag, why is their flag ship 8k x not even in production, how long has it been gone, makes one wonder what is their real market share. Or are they actually running a controlled recycling and rebuild program selling the same units multiple times? Very suspicious, multiple store fronts but all pretty much with no product, not even base accessories.

The thing is dependent on batteries to operate, that should be a huge fed flag for the stationary flight simmer. The 12K is the one I'll be waiting for, wouldn't even consider this one for my purposes. Another one follows Zucker over the meta cliffs, colossal misdirection and miscalculation, follow the fool but don't listen to your customers. Seems to me they're building stuff to the level their social and stand up crowd doesn't even need or want, let alone willing to pay for, meanwhile we're dying of thirst in the desert.

Have yet to buy a factual one.

You getting a power on white light on your connector box? Same happened to me, the power adapter failed, seems DCS with MT it needs more juice, was probably weak already, been continuously plugged in for just over two years. It's basically a laptop power adapter, don't think they were meant to be plugged in full time. Good news is they're abundant and cheap, HP uses pretty much the same one for all their equipment. Plenty of compatible adapters available out there. 19.5Volt, 2.31amp, 45Watt

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1\ApiLayers\Implicit

From the maker himself off another board. That's the path in the registry to delete them.
-
If you have more than 'XR_APILAYER_toolkit' and 'XR_APILAYER_XRNeckSafer' show up when you select 'Show Active OpenXR API Layers' on the openXR tab, that's your issue. You need to eliminate the extra garbage from earlier installs out from your registry.
-
Fire up game first, than start necksafer, or you can try clicking the 'OpenXR' button on the top next to 'options' and select 'Deactivate XRNS OpenXR API Layer'. Both methods get it working for me.

Multithreading Performance is Sensational in VR
Nodak replied to Flextremes's topic in Virtual Reality
Installed a new 4090 wednesday, so was testing settings the past two days trying to optimize best ones for me with the same mission, AH-64 runway take off Guam, always the same route straight to the two destroyers in the harbor, max fps I could squeak out landing and parked on the destroyers pad was 61, post patch 91, so a definite jump for me. 11900K with 32 ram. First time ever flying across the entire Island out to the carrier group that was good. Only used the map for max stress testing, was basically unplayable, not any longer. Think I can crank up a bit more on eye candy even. It is slower loading in the map, and I had all water and no terrain while waiting in pause for a while. Never happened before, but once loaded she was good to go, buttery smooth flight. -
Better off upgrading to a monster 4090 and if necessary the CPU and sticking with the G-2, it's comparable to a HMD upgrade with the extra clarity and improved visuals.

Some day in the future it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to dump the FC-3 plane pack as free. They really won't fit in the line up well for full fidelity servers with fleshed out planes having radios, nav aids, and such. Servers can always cherry pick which ones they'll allow. Pretty sure they've already made their monies on these.
-
Will they be incompatible for online?
-
Confusing, if it's a free upgrade to Normandy 44 why is it being offered at 14.99? Or is a partial facelift to their older map, and is the older one a bit smaller perhaps? I don't remember Paris being on it, not that I've flown it much. So in the end do we end up with three Normandy maps?

noted Other transport Aircraft possibilities after C-130J?
Nodak replied to carss's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Osprey, the mission variety is incredible, nearly unlimited possibilities when it comes to the flexibility in using this bird in a campaign scenario, with combat, spec ops, rescue, and logistics support roles all rolled into one. -

Nodak replied to carss's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Necessary for any dynamic cold war era campaigns, at least as AI. Both strategic and tactical roles in one bird, not many other airlifters can stake that claim. Have just over 1200 hours in the back of that bird, most challenging thing I ever did in life, far more work than a herk, did that one too. -

News flash, apple harvest delayed as orange harvest ripens earlier than expected. Nothing to be gained, two separate modules by two separate groups. ED would be shooting themselves in the foot by playing favorites and games with these guys. Takes two to tango, whatever happens it's not without agreement between each of the two parties. So who cares, lobbying won't get you a phantom quicker. -
Should be making a distinction between game world and real world. In the real world it's a team sport, phoenix don't exist no more, tomcats barely, vipers and hornets are mainly on the same side, so quite capable to hold that line. Game world, does it really matter.
