  1. The theory is map making will become so fast eventually, most of it rapidly becoming automated, it'll become a snap to totally redo them. Trend says we're moving that way, of course I'm not going to say what year that'll happen.
  2. I would strongly suspect as time moves on and the maps are making leaps and bounds in tech improvements it's going to get easier to update the older ones with the new tools and techniques at some point. Used to be years waiting for one single map, now it's two to three in a year with quality far surpassing anything previously done. At some point they're going to have to introduce the world curvature, don't see the point in two different simulations catering to the flat earth society. Barometric pressure will suddenly mean something.
  3. Looking forward to night vision old school in VR, red lights toned down to minimum levels flying by moonlight.
  4. That'd actually be a good idea, except the hanger itself lead to various modes like tool cage section for access to settings, ops room for mission builder, cockpit for instant mission menu access, hanger exit door for object and aircraft viewer/ encyclopedia, and on down the line.
  5. Upgrade the hanger, and set the plane in it as the one your theme and wall paper selection is, that and a skin and armament pak selection via the special settings menu.

    Turbulence

Plowing around long enough in a low level Herc you eventually figure out where the turbulence is visually, black field to green field, lake to forest, shady side of hill to sunny, your going to catch a wicked thermal. Even the birds know this.
  7. The amount of aircraft types that fit into a Nam map is staggering, starting with the French in the 50's. From Bearcats to Tomcats and everything in between, nearly the entire century series in various forms, and everything that flew off a carrier deck from 60 to 75.
  8. Think sales would always be dismal, many don't like the way they are implemented, the forces are generally too weak for flight and most of the effects shaking the stick would actually be felt through the arse, not the hand doing the flying and shooting, why the many invest in seat shakers instead. Also if your competitive the last thing you want is something shaking up your shooting hit percentages. We all can agree tactile feedback is important, not everyone will agree in the how its achieved. I'd love a full length stick that gave actual levels of resistance and the stall buffets from airflow of a simulated warbird, but that day ain't here, and MS sidewinder levels don't cut it.
  9. Any way the flight suit can be made to select for orange and dark blue in addition to the sage green and sand? Iran pre-revolutionary wore the orange, also Japan wore it, and it was issued to test squadrons and ADC units in the USAF, of which Iceland was one. The dark blue was special issue to the Thunderbird team.
  10. It's so real they quickly ran out of Phantom block numbers to sell, sorry guys but E's were all sold in the first fifteen minutes.
  11. Never mind you don't really have a historical map for an American Wild Weasel in the first place, but who really cares. LoL
  12. Yes, since eventually float planes must show up in a Pacific setting, since they played a huge part.
  13. Outstanding work, be proud to strap that simulated iron on.
  14. Heatblur sold twice as many Phantoms as MD did over a span of forty years in 24 hours.
  15. I'll know it's close when Kirk66 comes back on the board and starts posting again. He's probably busy doing weapons testing and polishing the seat pad, mum's the word.
  16. Physically works from back pit, the front one will move and click while in the back seat, but the one in rear cockpit isn't animated, so no visual positioning reference for that pilot.
  17. But what it does tell us is the LUA file numbers still work, and manually changing the values should have an effect, and there is a crude means to verify.
  18. You can check your alignment using the OXR Toolkit, set the outer ring on custom Foveated rendering to Cull and start decreasing the %, you'll see the edges. Mine was badly misaligned, the bottom halves of the screens were obscured while the Culled area was not even visible on the top side yet. My problem was I still had a .LUA with stored HMD settings from way back still in the saved game folder from past cross eye tool use. Pulled that out and now getting perfect binocular rings as the cull area shrinks with all sides disappearing symmetrical. It was noticeable something was wrong, about a quarter of my game start ups would have the black mask obscuring the bottom half or quarter of the screens, forcing a restart to correct. Much better without the file in, at least everyone using OXR can now check it using the FVR Cull tool trick.
  19. Works but not animated in the rear seat, you can observe it engage and disengage in the front seat while working it in the back seat, but your handle in the rear doesn't move. Also the rear pilot won't turn on the standby horizon during auto start up sequence.
  20. The thing is, these guys have access to a complete set of manuals, all of them, and the fully running jet with the technicians that goes with them. How is that any sort of disadvantage, no other developer quite has the entire package that I'm aware of.
  21. What channel your radio is currently tuned too.
  22. Quote from the man on discord, they're much closer than you thought.
  23. Back seat has single detonation strip directly above pilot with activation control on left rail. Yeah, nice trailer, we have another contender on our hands for top notch modules.
  24. The action according to the controller positioning indicator shows both brakes working correctly, but graphically from the back seat the left brake pedal down presses both pedals down, while the right rudder pedal down does nothing.
  25. It's not the Russian Government who was the first to come for somebody over transfer of sensitive data associated with games, Russians certainly are not the only worry.
