  1. Alt/Esc the game, go to WMR portal and open the 3D picture, your mouse will work in it, click close on whatever menu is stuck, go back into the game if your jet hasn't crashed yet and resume your sortie.
  2. Don't think anyone's clarified the difference between the J-79 vs Spey, they were low bypass 'turbofans'. Meaning much of the fan airflow was bypassed around the burn chambers and contributed to thrust straight off the initial fan stages. Hense the top end lowered speeds but quicker thrust available at slower speeds at higher rates of acceleration. Going to guess with all that bypassed cooling air available the burners could throw in greater amounts of fuel allowing increased thrust in afterburner also as compared to the J79's, since they had the ability to provide some of the bypassed auxiliary cooling air into the burner can air flows allowing for it. Always been a fan of the British Phantoms, only they could operate out of the woods off emergency highway strips in Germany for this very precise reason. Probably couldn't have operated off those postage stamp sized carriers without this either, anyone ever see a picture or film of a US Navy Phantom land on one of their small carriers, I've only seen it the other way around. I'd buy it in a heart beat, be interesting to compare and knife fight between the two, and a real treat on a cold war Germany map.
  3. You'll need the T.0. 1F-105B-1-1 Flight Performance Manual, it's the one that will have every performance chart for everything that was ever tested or interpolated for the ground and flight performance of that specific series aircraft. From charts for wheel brakes effectiveness for surface conditions wet or dry, to roll rates for various wing configurations, all known engine perimeters, to obstacle and terrain clearance charts for takeoffs for various pressures and altitude, basically everything you could ever want to know. The -1 pilots manual only gives a very basic and generalized picture of performance, not enough to develop a flight model. If you have the flight performance manual all you really need is the avionics manual for the weapons delivery systems and bombing computer. Generally not easy to find those two, they were not standard issue to individual aircrew, more at the squadron levels, and they would have been classified with accountability, so never fell into private hands, easily....
  4. Hope they get a SME helping them with that C-130J because that movie is hilarious, a fatality in progress. That cargo ramp lowered in the ground loading position with it in the air is technically impossible with the mechanical arms hooked up in the flight configuration as shown. The ramp beyond flight position is one huge elevator with a nose down pitch moment the regular flight controls would never overcome. That's a huge mistake, written abundantly about in the manual, it they can't even get that right, just saying.
  5. Go into your user/x/saved games/DCS/Config and change its folder name, it'll make a new default one next time you fire it up, than you can reset. Grab the stuff you need out of the renamed backup, mainly your input for key and stick commands.
  6. More parties building maps, faster and better the tech evolves, the greater the likely hood you see your own highly sought maps within your limited life time. History can never play out quite right in a game, so it should always be a secondary goal to more important things like quality and play ability. Give me a beautiful solid map and I'll be happy to make my own history instead of burning massive amounts of time and energy trying to duplicate something that can never really be again.
  7. Not mentioned in this thread, but many readers probably won't get that WSO was spoken as "Wizzo" by the troops, with RIO its easy to figure that out automatically. Everything gets broken down to a nickname, easiest and fastest way to communicate without misunderstanding at the ground level.
  8. A user placeable BAK barrier system and workable tailhook. Air gunnery tow targets. Functional Napalm.
  9. It's not humor, he's deadly serious. https://gitlab.com/NobiWan/xrnecksafer/-/blob/master/Assets/XRNeckSaferBeta1.zip https://gitlab.com/NobiWan/vrnecksafer/-/blob/master/VRNeckSafer/Release/VRNeckSaferV209.zip Two options, automatic rotation or manual snaps assigned to buttons. First link if your using OpenXR, second works with SteamVR.
  10. It'll be smoke less, not smokeless. Even the kitted ones still put out smoke, but much reduced.
  11. Shark mouthed St Louis ANG had them standard as a unit since they could retrofit them themselves right at the MACAIR plant. Might be the source where other units gained replacement air frames so equipped when they converted to Eagles.
  12. Yes, he appreciates folks who want to show their support through purchasing his favorite WW1 flight sim and supporting its evolution thus. The other unmentionable game. I don't fly it but bought both sets to support his endeavors, one of the best game enhancements for VR, a price well worth it for me to show support and pay back with some sort of reward for his outstanding efforts. Who knows some day I may actually fly it also.
  13. Some of the NVIDIA drivers in the past have been bugged setting the default frames locked at 60, check in the control panel.
  14. Does he have a valid AF Form 8 qualifying him for that specific flight duty on that air frame as a pilot, if not he ain't the pilot, end of discussion. Nobody flys qualified without a valid form 8, and you don't get one of those forms and maintain it current without possessing written flight orders, going through constant evaluation, both sim and examinations, and taking periodic check rides. Nobody is a "qualified" pilot or crewman without that validated form, nobody. Neither are you a WSO without yours.
  15. Be good to know what card you have, sometimes its a specific card issue.
  16. Find your OpenComposite folder, open the Runtime folder and delete everything, than run the OpenComposite Switcher app again, it will auto update and your issue is more than likely fixed. Some of the updates seem to corrupt with old settings files that remain.
  17. Lack of suitable airbases, and the distance between. Personally a well done map with close to life like terrain, hell yeah, but financially probably not a good bet with no runways. Want some Dall sheep up in those mountains and some smoking volcano's.
  18. Nothing gets you closer to the suspension of disbelief that your in a jet.
  19. I was never a fighter pilot, was a Loadmaster in two different types C-141B's C-130A, B/E, and finished as engineer in C-130B/E. It was an incentive ride for retirement, I ended my last few years as flightline working MOC. That makes it even more evident, an old man non-fighter pilot can do it. I have an official "magic carpet ride" certificate proving I did it, but I ain't going to dig it out, cause I don't give a rip. Also rode two sorties in T-33 back seat, and two in the mighty F-4D Phantom II. The perks of going to the required altitude chamber sessions when your a trash hauler and integrated into a ANG fighter squadron. But the ViperB was the real ride with a full AHM sortie. For those of you who never worked the MOC or debrief, that's a Advance Handling and Maneuver sortie. Most Air Force dudes don't even know that specific type of sortie exists, cause it gets very rarely logged.
  20. Out of all the DSC sub Forums the VR section is near the top for number of threads and posts.
  21. The Major wouldn't happen to be retired out of Fargo, would he? If so I know who this guy is.
  22. https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/512-59-clean-version.433367/ Just get a pre cleaned up driver and don't waste your time.
  23. https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/512-59-clean-version.433367/ There's already people providing cleaned up drivers, no need to go through that level of pain.
