  1. Seems they were caught by surprise with the sudden demand for PCVR Crystals. That's what happens when you listen to your customer base, good on you Pimax. Should have mine by August, too busy in June and July any way.
  2. Getting into a touchy area, part of the fix with the second version of the cable is putting in a signal booster in the little powered box. That right there tells you the original was never quite up to spec for sending a signal, neither the second version.
  3. Could be the HMD itself, not all in built stereo overlapping is equal. Put your left hand left to the left of your head and shut your left eye, you no longer see it either, the nose kills your stereo overlap in that part of your natural FOV. If you have an Aero the overlap is among the lowest.
  4. If you want the pass through, you need to get the $10,000 version, cause the retail version only has two lower res cameras doing it. This thing will never cut it for simulation, it's got fantastic lenses and screens but that's about it, good luck with the in built tracking using only two cameras.
  5. From what I recall Pimax is the only one in the industry to dare deal with canted screens, and there's some sort of physics problem that must be overcome, and it involves your actual physical IPD. If your outside normal ranges the further you go the larger your problem becomes. Curious what your actual IPD is, might be why some people have the issue and others don't seem to see it.
  6. Some of the newer 1000+ PSU's have the special single cable direct to the 16 pin format power hungry GPU's, it's 16 pin on both ends and eliminates the triple or quad cords with its own adapter. A real life and space saver and they're already rated for 600W. Makes for a nice clean build.
  7. If you take the largest super tanker and set it at speed in the seas you can fly into it's wake trough just a few feet below sea level in a Huey.
  8. You couldn't even rent and fuel up a puddle jumper for the price of a module. Way cheaper than buying an aircraft, lessons, and keeping currency, and your never getting to pull a trigger at any price unless your signed a multi year commission. From that perspective it's dirt cheap, and you can fly and test any thing you want.
  9. The Reloptics lens makers for VR can put a reading glasses effect based on a ratio they calculate, slicker than snot in the set I use. I stuck with my opticians recommendation for magnification level already printed on the prescription data sheet.
  10. Had a cab ride in a D to the altitude chamber for required physiological since the unit procrastinated to late for commercial tickets. First one to the jet in the dark, chief showed up to open up and said hop on in and start strapping up. Might be better if you don't fasten your leg harness straps till after your standing on the seat. So I followed his advice, had plenty of experience with similar harnesses and chutes, so got up there standing on the seat, reached between the legs and grabbed the straps one by one and got them synched tight. So I begin figuring on how to best seat myself, crew chief is gone, and as I'm starting to move I feel this resistance and wisely freeze. Turns out both straps fell perfectly through the ejection loops and I was strapped directly to them upon doing a feel around to figure out why I was feeling resistance. But it was one hell of cab ride, two sorties in one day logged on my official flying time. You should have seen the looks on that days group of tanker crews pilots when an enlisted guy pulled in with a g suit on and they ask how I got there. They were active duty and were sent commercial, here shows the Guard Sarge riding a Phantom, it's all they murmured about all morning. LoL
  11. Great for what if scenarios, it's 1979 and Breznev drooled his way into Afghanistan while the Ayatollah dropped dead of a heart attack in France, USAF Phantoms suddenly deploy to friendly Shah land.
  12. Flight suit wasn't just simple clothing it was also part of your safety kit with in built flash fire protection. Sleeves rolled up was definitely non regulation.
  13. Frankly the complexity and amount of systems and machinery you guys replicate in a coded format is amazing in itself. It took an entire design team of engineers and a whole plant and many sub contractors and parts designers many years to build and assemble the real thing. And you guys have to reverse engineer it within a limited time, you don't get the latitude to decide the design since what is to be replicated is already fixed, thus making it even harder. What you guys are pulling off is nothing short of miraculous, so hats off. Not many who could do this to the levels these third party design teams do it. I'm tickled pink teams of guys like you merely exist to support this, from my perspective take all the necessary time you need and don't forget to breathe. Thanks for what you've done and do.
  14. Think your going to have to be a bit specific about what time period your asking about, the Phantom E covers well over 50 years, the air war scene has changed and evolved just a little bit over that span.
  15. Considering that DCS Iranian flyers will be getting unlimited access and supplies of western inventory weaponry for their use in the virtual combat arena don't really see what the issue is. You'll be far better off that route.
  16. Clean nosed D or the J's. Several of the D's were made without chins, Iran had a bunch of them.
  17. We're rapidly approaching the old "Two Weeks" confirmed territory now.
  18. The old saying in MAC back in my day, fighter pilots make the papers, but trash haulers make the history.
  19. https://vrheadset.com/category/pc-vr-news-reviews/ If we get lucky something may emerge out of Panasonic's debacle this year yet, at least the new company already has several physical set designs based on years of Panasonic's floundering, flopping, and research to bring to market. The last one is right in bigscreens turf with the bonus of adjustable IPD and added adjustable diopitors for glasses wearers.
  20. The story of Northstar and a broken Phantom running out of luck and options
  21. Why would anyone use a full 180 snap in VR, a 130 degree would be plenty to do six checks, you still have your field of view of at least over 90 degrees in most headsets, so take half that plus a little more neck twist flexibility for 50 + added degrees to get a nice rear view. A full 180 would be way to extreme and disorientating. With the extra half FOV and remaining neck turning ability you could literally see your opposite wing looking back, no thanks. And if the rear snap view is solidly locked in VR its hello puke city, especially when holding it while flying, while looking fully backwards.
  22. Collect them all, you won't be disappointed.
  23. I totally disagree, one of the sleekest and hottest looking fighters in my eyes, exudes raw power, the appeal of a classic muscle car. Than when you slap on those groovy colors from yesteryear and hang those weapons, today's aircraft are drab gray lawn darts compared.
  24. The theory is map making will become so fast eventually, most of it rapidly becoming automated, it'll become a snap to totally redo them. Trend says we're moving that way, of course I'm not going to say what year that'll happen.
  25. I would strongly suspect as time moves on and the maps are making leaps and bounds in tech improvements it's going to get easier to update the older ones with the new tools and techniques at some point. Used to be years waiting for one single map, now it's two to three in a year with quality far surpassing anything previously done. At some point they're going to have to introduce the world curvature, don't see the point in two different simulations catering to the flat earth society. Barometric pressure will suddenly mean something.
