noted Other transport Aircraft possibilities after C-130J?
Nodak replied to carss's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Osprey, the mission variety is incredible, nearly unlimited possibilities when it comes to the flexibility in using this bird in a campaign scenario, with combat, spec ops, rescue, and logistics support roles all rolled into one. -

Necessary for any dynamic cold war era campaigns, at least as AI. Both strategic and tactical roles in one bird, not many other airlifters can stake that claim. Have just over 1200 hours in the back of that bird, most challenging thing I ever did in life, far more work than a herk, did that one too. -
Think the F-15 Release is/will have an Impact

News flash, apple harvest delayed as orange harvest ripens earlier than expected. Nothing to be gained, two separate modules by two separate groups. ED would be shooting themselves in the foot by playing favorites and games with these guys. Takes two to tango, whatever happens it's not without agreement between each of the two parties. So who cares, lobbying won't get you a phantom quicker. -
Should be making a distinction between game world and real world. In the real world it's a team sport, phoenix don't exist no more, tomcats barely, vipers and hornets are mainly on the same side, so quite capable to hold that line. Game world, does it really matter.

256 bus in a 4080, vs 320 in a 3080, not so sure that's an ideal trade off in VR for a solid increase, seeing as how a 4090 has a 384 bus. The 4080TI specs are calling for a 320 bus once again. Don't think your gaining much future proofing by going 4080. Bus speed is more important in VR than it is to flat screens, pretty sure it'll be noticed if you move up the resolutions when you upgrade HMD's. If you want to save a nickle wait for the TI, its just around the bend.

https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc283785/m2/1/high_res_d/thesis.pdf Good read, his thesis is the Phantom led directly to an urgent need to copy the soviet style of ground controllers, Operation Teaball, which in the end birthed AWACS and rejuvenated the modern fighter aircraft's combat role.

Is there a way to manually change the motion repro tool kit setting outside the game to restore it? Yes, open the toolkit, go into safe mode, it resets everything, fire up the game and reset.

If you haven't been following these guys on discord, this plane has high chances of being one of the best modules for fidelity so far, they have full access to a complete and functional A-7D including a running engine with a full set of complete manuals. University of Tulsa has it and uses it for their aviation and research programs, it's kept in workable condition. They've given the team access and technical support. You can't ask for a better basis for a simulation. They can spend more time implementing over research or learning how the systems work, easier when one has actual working systems to mimic.

There should be a distinct difference in quality of AAA, because radar directed guns with VT fused shells are magnitudes more efficient, allowing higher rates of fire, higher hit rates with vastly increased lethality over any mk1 eyeball manually ranged and directed, mechanically fused shell guns. Radar directed guns could engage within 1.1 mil out to max range and do it in the blind without visual contact, and the VT fuse would detonate the shell when in proximity, no best guess for fusing, visuals, or math required. A battery could set staggered elevations in the blind and pretty much make the kill. They got so good even the V-1's had difficulty getting past requiring the more complex and expensive V-2. The Axis never had anything in its class and went backwards as the war progressed, supply, training, and manpower difficulties ever increasing. Allied batteries as constituted continually shrank in size as they simultaneously increased in effectiveness.

Don't forget a huge bulk of McDonald Douglas employee's also belonged to the Missouri ANG which thus had direct access to the knowledge base and production line with the plant next door. Back than ANG units had very different traditions, those were their aircraft, just like Montana customized all their F-106 cockpits to MIG blue. In the old days pre Desert Storm one. they were actually a distinct and separate command and did not answer to the Pentagram. The Guard Bureau was a power unto itself until the Pentagram had the opportunity to strangle it through mission assignment and funding during the post cold war draw down and realignment, those who failed to bend over were dissolved and stripped of missions and aircraft.

Huh? I see nothing changed in Heatblurs pattern, they aren't official DCS but 3rd party, and they always keep silent until the big drop of their own movie, that's when you can start expecting information releases, not a moment prior. It's been this way on all their products, and a good thing, they can spend the time working instead of playing the losing game of trying to pander to everyone.

You don't have to ask virpil, the Targetware software itself is the limiting factor and tells you all you need to know. Virpil has nothing to do with TM's software's abilities.

Only the very first grip produced, Mongoose T-50 CM-1 version, is compatible with a warthog base, but it hasn't been in production for quite a while. Have one set up and it works fine, the -1 grip has the 4 way only buttons, no 5 press. The only thing that won't work is the grip brake axis, TM software can't see a Z axis, but it will see the button on the grip.

Alt/Esc the game, go to WMR portal and open the 3D picture, your mouse will work in it, click close on whatever menu is stuck, go back into the game if your jet hasn't crashed yet and resume your sortie.

Don't think anyone's clarified the difference between the J-79 vs Spey, they were low bypass 'turbofans'. Meaning much of the fan airflow was bypassed around the burn chambers and contributed to thrust straight off the initial fan stages. Hense the top end lowered speeds but quicker thrust available at slower speeds at higher rates of acceleration. Going to guess with all that bypassed cooling air available the burners could throw in greater amounts of fuel allowing increased thrust in afterburner also as compared to the J79's, since they had the ability to provide some of the bypassed auxiliary cooling air into the burner can air flows allowing for it. Always been a fan of the British Phantoms, only they could operate out of the woods off emergency highway strips in Germany for this very precise reason. Probably couldn't have operated off those postage stamp sized carriers without this either, anyone ever see a picture or film of a US Navy Phantom land on one of their small carriers, I've only seen it the other way around. I'd buy it in a heart beat, be interesting to compare and knife fight between the two, and a real treat on a cold war Germany map.

You'll need the T.0. 1F-105B-1-1 Flight Performance Manual, it's the one that will have every performance chart for everything that was ever tested or interpolated for the ground and flight performance of that specific series aircraft. From charts for wheel brakes effectiveness for surface conditions wet or dry, to roll rates for various wing configurations, all known engine perimeters, to obstacle and terrain clearance charts for takeoffs for various pressures and altitude, basically everything you could ever want to know. The -1 pilots manual only gives a very basic and generalized picture of performance, not enough to develop a flight model. If you have the flight performance manual all you really need is the avionics manual for the weapons delivery systems and bombing computer. Generally not easy to find those two, they were not standard issue to individual aircrew, more at the squadron levels, and they would have been classified with accountability, so never fell into private hands, easily....

Hope they get a SME helping them with that C-130J because that movie is hilarious, a fatality in progress. That cargo ramp lowered in the ground loading position with it in the air is technically impossible with the mechanical arms hooked up in the flight configuration as shown. The ramp beyond flight position is one huge elevator with a nose down pitch moment the regular flight controls would never overcome. That's a huge mistake, written abundantly about in the manual, it they can't even get that right, just saying.

Go into your user/x/saved games/DCS/Config and change its folder name, it'll make a new default one next time you fire it up, than you can reset. Grab the stuff you need out of the renamed backup, mainly your input for key and stick commands. -
More parties building maps, faster and better the tech evolves, the greater the likely hood you see your own highly sought maps within your limited life time. History can never play out quite right in a game, so it should always be a secondary goal to more important things like quality and play ability. Give me a beautiful solid map and I'll be happy to make my own history instead of burning massive amounts of time and energy trying to duplicate something that can never really be again.

Not mentioned in this thread, but many readers probably won't get that WSO was spoken as "Wizzo" by the troops, with RIO its easy to figure that out automatically. Everything gets broken down to a nickname, easiest and fastest way to communicate without misunderstanding at the ground level.

It'll be smoke less, not smokeless. Even the kitted ones still put out smoke, but much reduced.
