  1. Ran into this one yesterday while sniffing around for Starfighter information. https://www.ebay.nl/itm/F-104-Starfighter-cockpit-simulator/283503191073?hash=item42021b6421:g:ru0AAOSwjZhc8mYe
  2. Check his channel too. Lots of good interesting small stories and information videos from a former Korean war and Vietnam war veteran pilot.
  3. I think the reason is, that on most or many, of the servers, their missions have all DCS modules as late activation units, so they get loaded into memory when you load in. This is to avoid the massive load hits, when someone joins in a module that hasnt been loaded in yet. The downside of this is that system and video memory is filled up fast, especially on servers that support all or most modules and have a big variation of ground units. Can limit this memory consumption by lowering your texture quality to medium (1/4 memory consumption) or low (1/16). Not total, but on every AI and player unit that is being loaded into memory. Downside of this is that cockpits become unreadable, especially the older modules. F-18 and F-14 dont suffer so much, and medium works fine on those for example. Lowering pre-load radius can help on this too, but at the cost of potential bigger load stutters. Not sure units/players are counting here, think its only terrain/map related? I do wish we could set cockpit texture quality separate from the other texture quality option. Then Id just run that low, and cockpit high for online. If I would do screenshots, videos, or just enjoy the visuals on a offline freelight or singleplayer mission, then run high/high etc. Oh well, maybe one day.

  5. Ive seen AI when in formation, doing magical things too. Not exactly flying backwards, but they suddenly slow down instantly making it appear that they do fly backwards - or speed up instantly, or bank at a given angle, but actually turn a lot less than their attitude would indicate. Like they are being forced into place, and AI physics being overwritten at that moment in time. This being offline, so no MP warping.
  6. Celebrating the 800 year anniversary of the Danish flag.
  7. Pilot seat or chair? If Google chrome, right click the image and select 'Search Google for image' and there choose 'Visually similar image', and just go from there. It all unfolds :)
  8. Have you zoomed (changed FOV) in external (F2) view? This can happen when you zoom in in external, and jump into the map. Can simply zoom back out in external view, and F10 map should be all good again.
  9. Yes, double post cause I dropped it down in the video thread too, but figured it really belongs here. I think the featured variant is the A? Such a fine little plane this. Dunno if the E does it too, but I like that little 'howl' it does, when engines are spooling up. Nice little feedback that something is happening.
  10. Thanks DD_Fenrir  Maybe I should redirect my graphics card cooler exhaust to my face, when time comes :)
  11. swe333 you are one strange cat. Looking trough your posting history they are all hardware related, not a single DCS related post - even has a GTA V post similar to this one, and your first post was about leaving the PC running idle for 5 days and it doing something strange. Like wtf man! You are aware this is a game (Digital Combat Simulator, like see the header) forum right? This is not Toms Hardware or similar.
  12. What a strange place to ask that question. Maybe a BF5 or Origin forum would be more suited? And a strange question/habit. Why would you leave your PC just sitting there in game, running. Its a game, they run as fast as they can. Total waste of everything, mostly energy. And why is that an issue? Just stop doing that. Dont they save progress? Sorry, but this triggers me on many levels.
  13. As Steve Gee said, uncomment the line by removing the -- (see attached) Not that Im aware.
  14. So it isnt just me. Posted this on Discord earlier:
  15. Faster here too, especially noticeable with the Tomcat. Id say easily twice as fast as before. - When already in the mission, jumping into a plane (where you have multiple to choose from), the way it loads in, building shaders etc. Much faster in 2.5.5.
  16. Ah so nothing new then :) Did a quick search but found no mention of it, and couldnt remember seeing it in the file - granted, I just scroll way down in the end of the file, when I do a little tweaky .
  17. And also thank you for that ED  Open with Notepad++ ..\DCS World OpenBeta\Config\graphics.lua Line 18 --fps counter text color , uncomment to change --statsColor = {255,255,0} for example for white counter statsColor = {255,255,255} Should pass IC. Ive been using custom graphics lua for ages.
  18. Yes, had me a rouge SA-2 missile last night, in multiplayer. Was up at 130k feet. I could select it with F6, but I couldnt see it. I did see some contrails up very high, thats what made me wonder what is up there, and I browsed F2 which showed nothing, then browsed F6 and found that SA-2 missile.
  19. Yea, I had me a SA-2 missile up there last night (multiplayer). 130k feet up.
  20. Rusty memory, but I had something with FOV not working when the maverick was uncaged, but would work when it was caged.
  21. I thought I had it too, I might still. But I just tried to reproduce or see if I could find some pattern. Usually, up until now, as soon as it would display 0.5 OK, I would switch it to Nav. Did that earlier tonight too, and I wouldnt get a map and it wouldnt know where it was. Waypoints were 4000+ miles away. Then now I just did it again, and when it hit 0.5 OK, I left it and after 1½ minute or so, the map would appear, and all waypoints were correct, and the INS knew where it was again. So yea, I guess some more steps have to be taken into account now. Havent read up on it in NATOPS or manual. I might tomorrow. Now its night night :).
  22. Thank you for fading the sound in, when switching to an external camera
  23. Id be surprised if anybody bought that thing for DCS, or even games. Well maybe not that surprised. But its really not meant for gaming that card, and besides more memory, its barely faster than a 2080Ti in games.
