I was surprised to find out that the Hun was used by a few other countries. I am sure that DCS virtual pilots from those countries will be happy to have a jet from that era representing them. Denmark France Taiwan Turkey

The Su-22 is already in development by OctopusG.

Its official. The F-100D had been announced for development for DCS by Grinnelli Designs. One more aircraft that brings us closer to a potential Vietnam map in the near future..

I get why the Comanche seems interesting and cool. Unfortunately the reality of it ever becoming a full fidelity module is unfeasible because it was never a fully operational model. However it is very possible to make mod of it with the limited information know about it like the version that already exist for Arma 3. That is the best you can hope for.

From what I gathered the AH-1G was more adapt to handle Vietnam missions than the later versions because of their armament. The mini guns were used to clear out or prep LZ zones for the Hueys. So regardless of the order of other variants the AH-1G will eventually have to be done to meet the Vietnam requirements for when ever a Vietnam map is done. Here is an interesting comment from a Vietnam vet I read from the below video. "The Cobras were “working out”. Damn, been a while since I heard that term! My entire platoon was forced into a defensive circle by a 360 degree assault on the hill we were “ camping” on. Everyone popped smoke, tossed them out a few yards. The smoke rose thru the trees and made a ring. The Cobras shot the #### out of everything outside the ring. I could see the mini gun rounds ripping the trees and ground 10 feet in front of me, did I mention I was dumbstruck by the noise, the fire, those birds diving on the gun run then pulling out right over my head Not one Grunt, not one would say a word to disparage that noble beast. The men who flew those missions were like super man. Thanks my friends for pulling my chest nuts out of the fire more than once."

I actually would be more interested in a Block-30 or a F-16A than the current Block 50. It seems like the Block 30 would be the purist form of the Viper.

The main question that should be asked is how feasible is it to make a FF Thunderchief. I say that because I have seen some comments in the past that developers have not being able to find all of the required data. If that's the case then those interested need to put their efforts in tracking down the people that do have the required data.

Now that you mention it a full fidelity F-15A would actually make more sense as it could be more useful in cold war scenarios with more opposing Redfore aircraft to go up against.

Take a pal for a flight on 1 machine with VR
Evoman replied to TheTrooper's topic in DCS Core Wish List
While this is something I have wished for on all multi crew aircraft there is another quick and free solution that will allow for just that. The T-45 Goshawk free mod. Not only is it a 2 seater but it is a great Naval trainer to give your buddy a taste of carrier launches and recoveries. You would just have to download a copy to each PC along with DCS. -
I just heard about this news about the Kola map on one of the youtube DCS channels. This map would offer a lot interesting missions.

I actually had to look this up. I found there is a MOD to do this on the F-16. This made me appreciate the Viggens data cartridge even more. One of the reasons I love older jets is because of their simplicity to quickly fire up and set up. I guess I will be waiting for the F-16A when ever it comes. lol

Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
Evoman replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Just to be clear there will be 4 F-1 variants in total. The first one we are getting, the CE was delivered to Spain between 1975 and 1981. According to the developer it will have the Cyrano IV-M radar, a unique Cold War era radar in DCS. The latest and greatest would be the F1M upgrade which is also planed and were delivered in 1999-2001. -
If anyone has ever played War Thunder you can get a pretty good sense of how approaching aircraft with tail guns makes it a bit more challenging and thrilling. Which made me wonder if some of the WWII AI aircraft have working AI turrent and tail guns?

Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
Evoman replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The most request aircraft I have seen from those eras has been the F-100 Super Saber. It carried out more combat missions in Vietnam than even the F-4 Phantom. So such an icon would defiantly have to be done at some point in the future. -
Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
Evoman replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
In continuance with cold war aircraft I recently ran across an interesting discussion between the differences of the F-16A and the F-16C. I was not quite aware of their significant differences in terms of weight and wing loading that made the F-16A far more agile and efficient. "From F-16A to F-16C b50 CCIP surface remained the same despite way bigger mass increase. Problem had become so obvious, for Block 70 they eventually had to increase its wing surface - but this increased drag, especially in turn, wasting engine power increase benefits, fuel hungry engine, thus CFT practically permanently mounted for more fuel and yet another drag increase) - moral is simple, first design was optimal, later it lost its balance and it can't be restored by simply increasing wing surface or engine power.) " Therefore the F-16A would make a great candidate for the cold war era because it would be a more engaging for close up dogfights with just guns and heat seekers. Plus I bet "most" current F-16C pilots would be interested to be able to participate in cold war battles in a more streamlined aircraft they already love. Plus the F-16A was operated by more foreign countries. -

I just happen to run across this recent video discussing why the cold war is the future of DCS. -
My wishlist: Samuel L Jackson: F14 RIO voiceover mod.
Evoman replied to StinkyWizard's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I understand the appeal of having a Samuel L Jackson RIO voice with attitude. But I would prefer something more like having a witty Ryan Reynolds voice. But in all seriousness the voice overs take a lot of work. So I can only see it happening as either a free mode were the creator has a lot of time in his hands to find and copy the appropriate voice clips from past movies or as a paid official mod where a new third party dedicated to this type of module contracts the actor with permission to do custom voice recordings for the RIO voice overs. -
PC upgrade - Mobo, CPU and RAM
Evoman replied to Ala12Rv-Tundra's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If it does not support for two units with at least one at max speed then it would be worth swapping the OS to the SSD and DCS to the M.2. On some motherboards like mine running the M.2 at max speed takes up another lane of SATA connections reducing the number of drives you can connect to the board to x3. -
PC upgrade - Mobo, CPU and RAM
Evoman replied to Ala12Rv-Tundra's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I would also recommend getting a M.2 NVMe drive dedicated to DCS. It will not only load DCS faster but it will increase the games overall performance. When I added a M.2 drive to my PC running a i5-6600k 16GB with a GTX 970 it not only loaded DCS faster but it made DCS run a lot smother without hicups. Before I was running DCS off a hard drive. Even running the M.2 drive on SATA mode (same as SSD) I noticed slower load times and a performance drop compared to NVMe. Below are the drive data transfer speeds for comparison. Traditional 7200 RPM HDD: 160 MB/s SATA III SSD: 600 MB/s PCIe Gen 3.0 NVMe M.2 SSD: 3500 MB/s Seq. reads – 3300 MB/s Seq. writes PCIe Gen 4.0 NVMe m.2 SSD: 7000 MB/s Seq. reads – 5000 MB/s Seq. writes -
Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
Evoman replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I totally agree that there will always be different people with different preferences. However it always makes me roll my eyes when ever I see some new newish person to DCS demanding there be more modern jets or redfore counterparts that have not quite understood the difficulties of developing a modern FF module. Cold war aircraft might not be everyones cup of tea but they are the most realistic era of aircraft to fully fledge out as FF of a somewhat modern era. -
We Want To Hear Your Ideas For A New Map In DCS!
Evoman replied to danielzambaux's topic in DLC Map Wish List
I just learned about this incredible account that took place in Korea and went into China. Its a good example of how some of the bordering territories where involved. -
In conclusion the F-20 could have a slight possibility over the average prototype because it was a in an advanced state ready for sale to what ever country was interested. However because it was never sold and saw no service very little data and know how is known about it with the exception of Northrop and a few test pilots. Therefore it would pretty much be up to Northrop granting the license that would be accompanied with access to all the data they may still have to the party interested in it. Which makes the case for the F-20 uncertain.
-
I would also like to see the Hun come to DCS. Not only is it historical but it would be far more feasible to do than most other newer requests. This is a must see F-100 video of former pilots that get to fly it again.

There was some mention of the update in this resent interview with ED at 24:00min.
