It really doesn’t need to, does it?
It really only needs to have Akrotiri (sp?) and maybe one other, and more importantly, IMO, it opens up a better chunk of the Med for CV Ops.
First thing I always try: Move the IP back quite a ways.
Heavy Bombers often need 20-30 (B-1s sometimes need 40nm) miles from IP to TGT. They can’t work with a “tactical” IP like fighters can where it’s sometimes 10-15 miles out.
FWIW, I have -5 on both pitch and roll curves in the Viper and I find it sufficiently “snappy”
A-10 though is a little Apples Vs Oranges as it has direct linkages and no 1s and 0s involved in its control logic.
During AAR, Viper controls are damped just like they are with the gear down. The proper percentage is in debate though.
ECM and ECCM are serious black arts and are probably the most closely guarded of military secrets.
I think we’ll all have to live with simplifications in DCS. That’s not to say things couldn’t be perhaps modeled better but it will likely never be 100% accurate.
Re: The Channel Map
I think the consensus is that it’s a bit of a mashup with some airfields being paved when they historically were not and others being useable when in fact, they’d been demo’d by the Germans much earlier than the late 1940s. There are also a few built up areas on the map that were not actually as well developed in the 1940s.
There are several reviews on YouTube that address the not quite accurate timeline of the Channel Map.
In the Caucuses, many of the airbases (according to Google Earth) are no longer active military bases. But the default time period on that map is not “Today”
