Having used a Fire myself in the past, the biggest issue is that they suck. They're for reading books and browsing Amazon, and they're mediocre for that.

If you haven't done that, you ain't simmin'!

We are under attack and assault.
Mars Exulte replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Pointless thread is pointless? -
No project he personally ran has ever been ''on budget'' afaik, which is kinda the problem. His successes were generally tied to having somebody running roughshod over him to kee him on task. Him and his wife both are wannabe Hollywood celebrities. He's actually.turned out a couple movies, that imo, were pretty decent but he wants to make a blockbuster, not a video game, that's a big part of the issue. A whole raft of A and B list celebrities? For what? At best that's just pissing off money to feed his ego. Yeah, I mean in principle he's.just combining several genres, each of which have indeed been done separately before... which is kinda the point, it's a lot to try to combine all that together and make it work coherently. I believe the issue was he was pilfering funds from Microsoft, who wrote him a blank check based on his Wingcommander rep, to make that awful Wingcommander movie. They didn't tell him ''release it already'', they fired him and had to finish the game themselves with somebody else, a process that took another couple years because he had made exactly zero real headway. Me hearing about all this a couple months into the fundraising was when I realised the project was screwed and we had all been had. I helped organise most of my entire clan's ''divestment of Star Citizen assets''. In the years since, I have been vindicated by the condition of it. There's bits of a game there, pieces of fun, but nothing coherent. After this many years, sure maybe it's a ''evolving project'' but there shouldn't still be core mechanics being hammered out. They should have the framework finished and be fleshing it out with content. Instead, we've got a whole lot of disjointed <profanity>. Just a rafter here, a room over there, part of a concrete foundation and some plumbing over there but only one wall.

Is it going to be worth going 3090 to 4090?
Mars Exulte replied to Digitalvole's topic in Virtual Reality
No, it won't. But I've never seen that stop anybody. -
I waited for the announcement. I choked on the announcement. You guys can have em. I went to Ebay and ordered a used 3090. Should be fun trying to make it fit in my way too small case.

Fix the Vortex ring state on helicopters?
Mars Exulte replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Which is an absurd statement completely detached from reality, which you would know if you took more than a cursory glance at aviation history from the 1800s up to present day. For the sake of argument, let's say this reasoning point isn't complete bollocks (it absolutely is) and let's say that real life helicopters don't enter VRS as easily as they do in DCS, but we'll imagine the world if they DID... Do know what that world would look like? Would it be a helicopterless world? No. Training would adjust and pilots would avoid regimes that endanger the aircraft, JUST LIKE THEY ALREADY DO. You're talking about moving the edges of the envelope. Pilots stay inside those parameters, that's it. That's what their training is for. But they wouldn't ''ban helicopters'' because they're ''too dangerous'' and believing they would is asinine. Maybe it's wrong, maybe it's not. But an anecdotal internet blurb isn't evidence. Your gut feeling on airworthiness and history is equally irrelevant, besides being blatantly incorrect. I will quote what I said already. If you can't or won't do that, then you'll get nothing. ''VRS WRONG ED FIX'' Isn't going to yield any results EVEN IF YOU'RE RIGHT because it's just blanket nonsense. It's not even YOUR blanket nonsense, it's SECONDHAND blanket nonsense @@ -
Fix the Vortex ring state on helicopters?
Mars Exulte replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Very likely, yes. Also not relevant unless he's flown THESE choppers, or at least something very similar. Most Apache pilots do not also have Hind experience for example, and the two have exactly zero commonality aside from both having rotors. Edit: In short, you have created a wishlist thread, over a ''problem'' you don't even know if it exists, based on some other guy's opinion that may or may not be relevant. That's not how this sort of thing works. If you believe you have found a problem, you gather evidence (ie ACTUAL hard evidence that supports your claim, a internet blog is not evidence, something like charts, physical proof etc), provide proof of how it should be instead (requiring hard evidence, charts, etc, not just ''I think because OBVS PHYSICS''). You haven't done anything wrong, but this thread isn't going to be taken seriously because it's not. To even claim ''VRS WRONG ALL HELOS FIX ED'' is pointless. You need to do a bug report on each individual aircraft you believe is wrong, show HOW and WHY it's wrong IN DETAIL, and HOW it SHOULD BE in DETAIL. One by one. A blanket statement like this, based on a blog, is pointless. -
Fix the Vortex ring state on helicopters?
Mars Exulte replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS Core Wish List
This is called ''anecdotal evidence''. It's also irrelevant. If a person has flown a specific aircraft, they can attest to accuracy. They cannot ''in general'' attest to something though because each design is different. That is why a former F-16 pilot can comment on its flight model, but his opinion on say, a Tornado or Sukhoi he's never flown would be largely irrelevant. Not necessarily. Certainly not just because of a blog. Physics are indeed universal. And each aircraft interacts with them in a different way, thus the extensive period of testing before production to confirm that what they expected on the drawing board matches up with its behavior in the air and all the little tweaks that result from curing unforeseen issues (like the F-18 rudder toe in because it's incapable of leaving the ground without it) -
I'm debating whether or not to go to 11 when I do this next upgrade, or trying to stick with 10. The evil I know, and what have you.

PIMAX Monster 12k, Eyes tracking, INSIDE OUT and Much more !!

Job security. If this VR thing doesn't work out for them they can always try politics next. -
I'm getting everything in 1/72 so it all is true to scale.

Disable autostart sequence in a mission
Mars Exulte replied to Ducksen's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yeah, most servers gloss over that one. Also true. If you can do it with a macro, it's by definition not very skill intensive. At best it represents familiarity with tertiary systems.- 147 replies

#4 is arriving tomorrow, and there's five more arriving within a week =D Eurofighter, F-16, F-18, Su-24, Su-27, Ka-50, Mi-8, Bf-109, P-51. I'm eyeing a couple more but am now exercising restraint until I see how much room I have left. I only have two 48'' shelves, and each of these models range from 8-12'' so I can probably fit about 6-7 per shelf. -edit Alas, the same plane misdelivered as a F-14 came to my home, attempted delivery, then reversed course and started moving away again. I'm hopeful they catch it before it's halfway across the country like last time this happened.

I see what you're talking about. To the others, yes it's subtle, but you can see the clouds jittering slightly up and down.

Possible roadmap for 40 series?
Mars Exulte replied to AngleOff66's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just say ''No!'' to clickbait YouTube channels. -
I have 400Mbps and routinely download about 50-60MBs, including with ED. Drive makes a big difference. My old platter drive struggled to reach those kind of speeds (ie it didn't ever) but the NVMe I have now actually boosted my download rates around 50% because it CAN handle those speeds consistently.

Some more modern "Flaming Cliffs" modules
Mars Exulte replied to Flogger23m's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Or we could just make any of the hundreds of aircraft that ARE feasible to develop fully. There are mods for Star Wars, F-22s and other fanciful topics if people just need to scratch and itch @@ -
I finally saw it the other day. When it started I kept shushing my wife cause I was trying to watch the movie. Half way through, I gave up and started making fun of it and she kept shushing me cause SHE was trying to watch the movie. By the end, she gave up, too, and we were both making fun of it. There's some cool aircraft, of course, but even setting aside real vs movie, just internally it never made any damn sense. And they tried way too hard to make this some emotional drama, and it just didn't make any damn sense either. -edit Best moment was when the Hind showed up, my wife and I nearly simultaneously blurted ''Oi blyat, it's Putin!''

What's the production holdup? If it's a year backlog, and I guess had been for sometime now, they can't ramp up production or something? Damn. Even 3d printing this stuff doesn't take THAT long. -Edit Just checked their discord, as of a few days ago they are shipping for July 2021. So about 13 month backlog.- 3421 replies
