Upgrade my iMac?
element1108 replied to Ein Name wie kein Name's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
How low is low and what are you in game settings set to? -
The thread title would imply something other than what you're post indicates. Boring, hardly. Eyeball navigation, temperature monitoring, scanning the skies, looking for the target area and targets without avionics and actually flying this bird leaves little room for boring IMHO. I hope you get your axis sorted, because (clearly by the responses) that's the issue here.:joystick:

Official DCS: Playable Infantry??
element1108 replied to Stratos's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
All due respect to GA and his creative choices. It's a VERY cruel joke. -
There are a lot of new references there...:). I keep forgetting about Nevada, there are so many things to anticipate content to play currently!

I wouldn't read much into it at this point. Day 1 release will answer a LOT of questions :)

Sounds like you've been shot down on your own accord mate. Startup time has nothing to do with realism in the grand scheme of things. It doesn't reduce your chances of being shot down. If you're in a KA-50 and not flying highly tactically then you're a sitting duck against an F15 *flown by a "kid" or not*...taking off from a capped airfield isn't "realistic"...neither is flying a KA-50 without a friendly CAP in the area. Anyway to me your point is null and void...so have at another perhaps? By the way I've flown with some pretty amazing "kids". I've also flown in servers (DCS A-10 AND KA-50 servers BEFORE DCS WORLD and FC2) where these so called "kids" would make strafing runs on friendly airports making it impossible to startup. I actually don't think they are kids, I think they are behaving at what an elitist sim enthusiast expects all kids to behave, but is usually far from the truth. Yeah I'm sorry for your negative experience, but Flamming Cliffs brings human fighter cover to the KA-50...that's far more realistic than not.:pilotfly:

Gun cam footage and interviews with 51 aces has indicated to me at least the incidiary rounds flash pretty big when they impact. Just finished cutting a one hour ep on Gabby Gabreski and went through loads of "HD" gun cam footy.

Echo turning water down to low make much of a diff for you?

Oh the my whole comment wasn't directed at you , sorry about that. The first sentence only, and the rest was a general observation reading the same banter on a number of forums (simhq) primarily where arguing price was front and center. Contrary to being worked up, I couldn't have been more calm writing it, it was more of a deep sigh enough already type emotion seeing the same comments over and over whilst missing the already stated facts. I usually end up reading everybody's response because even the bad arguments contain some useful tidbit in there. Reading comments For me at least helps give more context to said article and I can forum a more accurate conclusion. I should have transitioned my comment more smoothly away from what you said. :) apologies for having singled you out. :pilotfly:

Very nice! With teeth!

I wouldn't say left out in the cold as of yet. We don't know the details of fc3, just those stated by wags and e has hinted there is more (left until release to confirm). The new model and cockpit in the grand scheme of things is a facelift, the landing and takeoff dynamics for all birds is huge. Also hints at possible fm upgrades. Regardless I don't understand all this premature talk. Its always best to hold off judgement until the product is released and you get all the info to form your opinions. All to often people write a manifesto of why the price is wrong or what features are missing when they don have all the info. You can't make a conclusion on anything until you know exactly what you're concluding. I will be buying it personally, it's a no brainer for me. Ed has made leaps and bounds in the last 5 years many other companies (fighter ops, jet thunder and even Cliffs of Dover) have failed to live up to their hype. There will be growing pains, but the end result is like nothing in a combat sim currently.

+ 1nd Starscream skin would make me fictionally giddy ;)

Excited...I can't help but collect them all!!!

 thanks mate.

Great work, it's nice seeing how nice DCS series looks like on higher settings than I currently run. When I do the new comp, it will be a complete rediscovery ;)

This is by no means a request, but just curious about development. Are there plans on being able to change up the rounds used in the P51? Tracers/non tracers, incendiary, AP etc? I'm on an old system, so my graphics are tuned down, but are there plans to implement flashes strikes? (maybe they exist and I just can't see the visual goodie on low settings) Been watching a lot of gun cam footage as of late and strike flashes are pretty apparent. Let me clarify, these are just simple questions, I don't expect results...I really am enjoying it the way it is.

That model was very limited...IMHO, it doesn't surprise me. What DID surprise me is they thought this would be profitable. If anything playing MS Flight for free would tickle the fancy and any smart consumer would go out and buy FSX for $9. You get the whole world and a lot more content than even possible in MS Flight. You either like flying or don't, but if there's nothing to learn, there is no progression and interest levels will drop fast. What other content did they ever release for it?

Thanks for the reviews, AI has always prohibited me from enjoying any of tha arma series campaigns. Strictly a mp game for me.

Played it for 20 mins, love it. The Tunguska and Shilka are unbelievable. I'm sure there is better hardware, but those two have been my most hated foe's flying in the sim.

All over this

In the great words of the late Grand Moff Tarkin "You may fire when ready...."

Still not fixed? I haven't bothered with it since a few patches in, uninstalled and sidelined. Boy I really wish it did play as desired. No disrespect to the dev's on that one and I know the circumstances weren't great...but probably the biggest disappointment to the WWII sim community unfortunately. Not that it will remain one, but expectations I think were VERY high.

You are aware of DCS P-51 right? ;) ;) ;) Since i've got screen time, I'm going to say yes...props are cool...but so are rotary .. the KA-50 needs a playmate....of the MI-24 kind ;). For the record so are the following: Blackhawk UH-1 Cobra Lynx Apache (the list continues)
