Cant you adjust this color just as well with OpenXR Toolkit? With Toolkit, I can make the map look darker, lighter, more vibrant, sharper, with more or less contrast, brighter, etc.

Hey Reflected, with the new campaign updates do you think it is okay to turn on "Wake Turbulence" now? I know you did not recommend it before for most systems. I have a mid-level system (3060ti, 32 gigs of ram, I5-12600k).
-
I certainly agree it needs an overhaul. Will be elated when its done!
-
I would love to see how that works, being able to see real panels outside of the VR headset while being able to still see the VR world. Best of both worlds!

I have a stand-alone. I just went to Module Manager and uninstalled the original Normandy map. I then restarted the Module Manager after purchasing the new map, and Normandy 2.0 showed up in Manager. I installed it from there like we do all our modules. No problem.

Current or upcoming best VR headset for DCS
MADLOU1 replied to PKP_Cooler's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have a 3060ti and i5-12600k. I have both the G2 (version 2) and the Quest 2. The Quest 2 looks every bit as good as the G2 in DCS on my system and alot easier to use so I use it over the G2. I agree that getting a new gen headset will probably not give much more visual improvement and that the answer is either a better GPU and/or CPU. -
Have you tried doing the mission in vr? When you reach the required altitude of 1500 feet, you can't see anything but white fog (or cloud) in vr. When I played it in 2d, I could see the ground clearly. This is occurring in both ST and MT.
-
Yes. I am running the latest Open Beta. I have only completed mission one (not the intro mission) so far on Vr. It has excessive fog to the point where you can't see anything at 1500 feet, the altitude your commander tells you to fly. I have flown that mission (and seen videos of others flying that mission) with no fog.
-
Will do. Thanks.
-
I noticed excessive fog in Reflected's Paradise Lost Campaign. He advised that I post this info here. The issue occurs in both ST and MT.
-
I tried Mission one in ST and got the same fog.
-
Ok. Thanks. I will replay the missions in ST. I get the same performance on both at this time on my G2.

The heck with digital aircraft combat, this map looks so good I'll probably won't do anything but sightsee all over the gorgeous thing!

I just started replaying this great campaign in VR. I played it before in 2d. In VR, I notice that in the first mission (not the intro), there appears to be an excessive amount of fog to the point that I have to fly most of the time on instruments only if I follow my commander's instructions to fly at 1500 feet. I can't see anything but fog at such high altitudes. When I played it in 2d there was no such fog. Is that another one of those ED -induced bugs that resulted after an update? Thanks!

You Normandy purists need to stop griping. Just look at the incredible detail and beauty of what they have so far! Would you nitpickers be happier if they didn't do the map update at all???
-
If we donated enough money, Reflected, can you make a Vietnam and/or Korea map?
-
Have you contacted HP about the issue?

Sweat or condensation that dripped down?

This is just a general question about multithreading.

I would at least give it a try. I think VR is a totally more realistic experience than a monitor. Before MT, I never used my Quest 2 for DCS because of the poor visuals and stuttering despite many hours of tinkering. After MT and following the advice of others on the net, I found that the sweet spot, at least for me, is as I described before, using the Oculus Tray Tool and setting the ASW to "force 30 fps." This setting was recommended by some on the internet and I initially said to myself "but that is not enough FPS!", but when I tried it, I found that I got a constant and buttery smooth 24 fps with in-game settings considerably higher than the preset VR settings including visible range on high, shadows on high, clouds on ultra and MSAA, SSAA and AA on max. It looks very good and runs as smooth as my 90 plus fps on a monitor with all settings maxed out. Being computer illiterate it doesn't make sense but it works for me on my system. It may or may not work for you or your system, but if you really like VR I would give it a try. If it doesn't work out now, try it again each time further developments are made with MT and eventually I think you will be pleased. Before MT, the only flight sim I played was IL2 because the VR experience there was always very good. But now, with MT, I am only flying DCS because even with my puny machine, the VR experience is just as good as IL2's but with better graphics and of course, clickable cockpits. -

I wouldn't put too much stock in that cpu or gpu bound message at this point. I have a midlevel computer (I5-12600k, 3060ti) and on a monitor I can completely max out all settings and get 90 plus frames rates while getting, get this, constantly alternating, cpu and gpu bound messages on MT. In VR I use a Quest 2. Along with that headset I use a utility program called Oculus Tray Tool. In that program I set the ASW (otherwise known as motion reprojection) to "force 30 fps." With that I get a constant 24 fps with most of the ingame settings set to either high or medium, plus msaa set at at 4, SSAA set at 2, and AA set at 16x. The game gives great visuals and is smooth as a baby's behind, all the while telling me its cpu bound. Ok. so be it. As long as the game looks good and runs smoothly, the hardware can be cpu and gpu bound all day long. -

BF-109K-4 "Jagdflieger" Campaign Issues

Oh no. I just started the campaign a second time. I guess I should wait for the Normandy 2 update. Are you updating your mustang campaign also? -
I also have old eyes being 68 years old. I wear glasses which fit quite neatly in my Quest 2 and they are not the smallest glasses either (given I have a rather large head). So if you wear glasses I suspect you may be able to wear them inside the Quest 2. They have a special spacer that goes in the headset for glasses but I found I dont need them because my glasses never touch the VR lens. Without the spacer, I get a bit more FOV (Field of view). As far as 3rd party programs, Necksafer is great. For some reason I could never get to work with the original DCS version but with MT it works like a charm. I didn't know about Openknee board and have to check that out. Other than that you may want to check into utilities to enhance your Quest 2 experience such as Oculus Tray Tool and Oculus Debugging tool. In its very early iteration, MT has greatly improved my midlevel computer VR operation. So I think this is a great time to get into VR with DCS.

You probably know this, but are you certain it is not picking up the MT version? When that version boots up, in the main page it states in the lower right hand corner that it is the MT version. If it wasnt for that, I wouldn't know the MT version was working since I'm not really getting any performance boost.
