Thanks, @Furia, I'm glad you found it useful! It was quite a huge undertaking

Can't get the bird to roll with brakes off engines spooled up!
Sedlo replied to gdotts's topic in DCS: C-130J
Perfect! Thanks for the info! -
For this bird it's 10... If there are fuel tanks mounted it will change, but I don't know what the values are for that yet.

Don’t forget the music! In the cargo menu in game, look under files and select music and you’ll have a whole bunch of Internet radio stations to listen to.

Ok, this is kind of a cool feature… As a mission, editor, put static objects in the vicinity of where you are going to spawn a C-130. Like within a 100ft or so. Then, in those boxes put the name of the unit for your static, and when the player spawns in, that will automatically be loaded into the back of the aircraft. This even works in air starts, place the statics near the airplane, and they will be loaded in the air. Then you can drop them wherever you want, or you can fly around with the extra weight and land with them, whatever you wanna do.

Jet fuel, oil, dirt and likely a bit of urine.

I understand! Yeah, it's pretty loaded. But.. with the expansive list of failures that might/may occur, plus mission makers (like me) who might throw a failure or two the players way... Ya never know. The cool thing about the Hercules we have is that if you want to just get it into the air and fly around it's a dream to fly by hand. Just have the nav system aligned, get the engines on and you can go out and do it, even combat ops. It's all the fancy avionics that takes the lions share of the cold start, and we only really need basic stuff. But if you want to do it by the book, you are able to do it, too.
-
I'll DM Lockheed. IRL, usually the crew chief will get the jet powered up, nav aligned, apu on, etc. But for cold and dark to engines on it takes a while. Once you get the hang of it, it can go a lot quicker. I just re-flew the tutorial with the release build (making a video) and it seemed to work for me ok. Just to confirm you advanced them up over the flight idle and back down? I will have a closer look to see if I can widen the tolerances a bit.

Keep engine 3 up-sped if you plan to turn off the APU during taxi. If all engines are in Low Speed Ground Idle, then the engine generators will not supply electric power to the aircraft and everything will go dark. Happened to me a few times in the sim, and apparently it's happened in real life often, too. -
They can. It is. One of those statements is false.

Hit autopilot disconnect 2 times and it'll silence for ya.

I've killed a Fulcrum like that. Good times!

Who said that? I can't find you on the map! JK, love the Kiwis! I suspect you'll be seeing a livery soon.

@dresoccer4The top one there is mine, the rest are done by Baltic. His missions are actually even in Campaign format, which you can access via the Campaign menu. He's got a great set of training missions that'll get you up to speed quickly.

It's fun to shoot down aircraft that get too close!;-) Who says it ain't a gunship

DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3347801/ MISSION OBJECTIVES The devastating 8.9 earthquake that struck the HATAY REGION on Monday has resulted in a humanitarian crisis that rivals anything in the last 100 years. Today’s mission is to airdrop supplies to the beleaguered city of HATAY. WEATHER AND NOTAMS A weakening low-pressure area remains over the AOR, resulting in low clouds and reduced visibilities for the next 12 hours. Visibilities will be 10+ SM in haze and smoke. Expect light-moderate turbulence below 6000 feet. Intelligence warns the risks of a collapse of the ASSAD regime may be imminent. Syrian ARMY and AIR FORCES seem to be on a regular state of alert, but this may change at a moment’s notice. DO NOT FLY NEAR THE SYRIAN BORDER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. RULES OF ENGAGMENT 1. WEAPONS HOLD 2. DO NOT ENGAGE UNLESS A HOSTILE ACT IS COMMITTED AGAINST NATO OR COALITION FORCES. MISSION PLANNING MISSION NUMBER – ASC1001 OBJECTIVE: Drop medical aid in the city of HATAY. FLOW: !! LOAD 7 CDS CRATES PRIOR TO ENGINE START !! Depart INCIRLIK 0530 local and proceed to OPSOP. Make contact with USAF Combat Controller Callsign BADGER to coordinate the airdrop. Approaching OPSOP, be away of high terrain just to the west. Badger would like one pass of each aircraft in trail with an egress to the south. Recommended airdrop altitude is 800ft MSL. Key Points: One pass from each aircraft in trail. Beware high terrain west of OPSOP Do not cross the SYRIAN border. Safety: Maintain situational awareness and be prepared to react to threats. DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3347802/ MISSION OBJECTIVES A USMC unit requires specialized equipment to be brought to FOB DWYER (OADY) immediately. You are tasked with delivering this vital equipment as soon as possible. WEATHER AND NOTAMS A weakening high-pressure area remains over the AOR, resulting in generally good VFR weather for the next 12 hours. Visibilities will be 10+ SM in haze and dust. Ceilings will remain approximately 15000-20000 scattered. Expect light-moderate turbulence below 6000 feet. METAR OAKN 060101Z 23009KT 10+SM SCT160 15/4 A2999 METAR OADY 060101Z 2507KT 10+SM BKN150 12/5 A2999 TAF OAKN 060100Z 27010KT P6SM SCT 160 RMK NXT FCST BY 060106Z= INTELLIGENCE UPDATE – KHANDAHAR PROVINCE Kandahar Airfield remains a fortress and the primary logistics/command hub for the entire RC-South region. Immediate Threat: Low within the KAF perimeter. External Threat: HIGH along all ground routes leading into and out of KAF. Expect sophisticated IED Belts and intermittent Indirect Fire (IDF) attacks (rockets/mortars) targeting the base perimeter, though effectiveness is usually low. Recent Activity: High value targeting of Taliban leadership is yielding results, though retaliation is expected. A key Taliban commander, Haji Amir (operating in Dand, Zhari, and Panjwa'i districts) was eliminated via air strike just days prior (May 30th). This has temporarily disrupted insurgent command and control in the immediate vicinity of Kandahar City but is a temporary effect. Key Units: US, Canadian (Task Force Kandahar), and other ISAF forces are garrisoned here. The airfield handles a massive volume of rotary and fixed-wing traffic. FOB Dwyer is in the volatile Garamsir District of Helmand Province, to the west of Kandahar's primary AO. This area is historically a major Taliban and narcotics-trafficking stronghold and was a key focus of the initial Marine surge in 2009. Security Posture: Aggressive and Kinetic. Marine Expeditionary Brigade (MEB) forces (e.g., Regimental Combat Team 7/RCT-7, rotating to RCT-1) are operating out of Dwyer, constantly pushing security into the surrounding Green Zone (irrigation/farming area) and desert. Immediate Threat: HIGH. The region is saturated with IEDs. Patrols are frequently engaged with Small Arms Fire (SAF) and Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs). Medevac (Dustoff) missions are a frequent occurrence, often under fire. Operational Tempo: Extremely High. The Marines are actively suppressing the insurgency, extending the authority of the Afghan Government (GIRoA), and training Afghan National Army (ANA) partners. Air support and logistical resupply is a constant requirement. Logistics Note: OADY is a key forward resupply point. Cargo must be secured and offloaded swiftly. Ground movement beyond the wire is extremely hazardous. Air Transit Hazards (OAKN to OADY) Your flight path takes you over some of the most contested terrain in Afghanistan. Primary Threat: Small Arms Fire (SAF) from the ground, especially during low-altitude segments of the approach/departure from both airfields. Insurgents will attempt to target low and slow-flying aircraft, particularly multi-engine transports like the C-130. Risk Area: The transition area between the relatively secure Kandahar and the highly kinetic Helmand province. Be particularly vigilant over the dense agricultural areas (Green Zones) of the Arghandab, Zhari, and Panjwa'i districts of Kandahar and the Green Zone leading to Dwyer. Recommendation: Maintain operational flight levels (OFL) and adhere strictly to established ISAF Airspace Coordination Orders (ACOs) and Threat Avoidance Routes (TARs). Utilize all available aircraft defensive systems and vigilance from the crew. MISSION PLANNING MISSION NUMBER – TH145 OBJECTIVE: OFF LOAD 2 CONTAINERS AT FOB DWYER (OADY) STEP – 01:00z / 05:00 LOCAL START – 01:25z / 05:25 LOCAL TAXI – 13:30z / 05:30 LOCAL EXPECTED MISSION LENGTH: 45 MINUTES. MISSION DESIGNER NOTES · Cargo will automatically be loaded into your aircraft at mission start, but you MUST add the weight into the CNI-MU. Total cargo weight is 25,904lbs. · You MUST finish filling out the route in the CNI-MU. Make sure you put the destination into the proper fields and add the departure and arrival procedures. (You will also have to delete some points and discontinuities). · Your drag index is 10. · This mission can be played single player or multicrew. · This mission is a little different than my other missions. Radio calls will happen automatically without the player needing to change frequencies. · Do fly your flight plan unless you are cleared to deviate from it, or operational reasons cause you to change things up. · Mission triggers are based on units being at certain locations (for the most part), so try and fly your flight plan if you can. Hey @Pochi! Thanks for letting me know! I'm sorry that I didn't catch that on the User Files, I don't get notified on those, so I must have missed the comment. Thanks for the notes, I'll have a look this weekend. The hold thing refers to where to hold... A is north, B East, C South, D West. The number refers to the distance. So holding B 8 would be hold 8 miles to the east. I will try and add that to the notes in the mission, thanks!

Good question, I hope some others can answer I can have a hard time with it, too best advice I have is keep your speed up above 400-450, don’t be shy to extend and get out of the fight, RTB or re-engage from a better position.

Playing it again is even better
Sedlo replied to Jayhawk1971's topic in F-16C Arctic Thunder Campaign
That would be very cool, we had similar thoughts way back when. But right now, with the uncertain future of the -E model, I'm going to steer clear of that for a while. Now, a C-130 type of thing.... -
Radio Transmission - Degradation: How to solve?
Sedlo replied to Mistermann's topic in Mission Editor
It will follow the plane around the mission and each time you initiate a transmission from the zone, it will start playing near the player. But be aware, it will begin at the point defined as the centre of the zone in relation to the player, but it will remain there until that transmission is over. This is not an issue for most things, but say if you have a 10 minute audio file, it will start to degrade as the player flies away from the origin of the transmission.
