+1, far more interesting in my opinion as well. Unfortunately they have promises to keep in that regard now.

"The highest altitude reached was 35,150 feet, without a payload."-New York time Dec 27, 1964 in a UH-1D which has the -11 engine in it that is weaker than our -13 https://www.nytimes.com/1964/12/27/archives/army-claims-11-speed-and-altitude-records-for-uh1d-helicopter.html

Do we know if it was firing while pulling G's that jammed them or that simply pulling the G's would cause them to jam the next time they were fired?
-
Well I'd like to emphasize balance is not what were going for. If Corsairs fought Zeros we need the Zero. I'm all for other assets/modules but the Zero is iconic and we don't need a fair fight.
-
So he mentions that it was originally a D model upgraded to an H but and he lists some boiler plate H information but we don't know if that H model has the -13 or -703 engine which I think is 400 more horsepower. Yes I saw the list that says -13 but I'm not convinced they didn't just google H model and list the base engine they had versus asking which one. The DCS H has the -13. Also a military helicopter is alot heavier than a civilian one. When they go to civilian service they get stripped of alot of unnecessary equipment like IFF, the second generator, armored seats, etc. So you would need to compare the actual weights of the helicopters. And I've never bothered but people have compared the DCS huey to performance charts and its come up fairly close until you get to high altitudes. Thats not to say it couldn't use some improvement. I'd like to see VRS reduced and more pedal authority added.

Bearcat wouldn't really fit WWII. If I remember it showed up to late. Im not sure it saw any action at all.

So anyone happen to know what Nick Grey's favorite Pacific fighter is?
-
I actually did some digging on that because I was wondering why did these two coexist in the navy? Are they not redundant? What I came up with was the A-7 was intended for close air support and "see the target, kill the target". While the A-6 wasn't quite as good at that type of work it was much better at pinpoint all weather day or night strikes. So if its a target of opportunity you send and A-7 and if its preplanned you send the A-6. The F-18 was able to take over the A-7's role earlier than the A-6's and thats why the 6 stayed in service longer.

Kilometric? Something that is measured in kilometers? I'm not sure what you're referring too?

So I didn't realize how capable the A-7 was until just googling it. I thought it was just a big bomb truck but it could carry shrikes, harms, gbu-8's, paveways, mavericks, walleyes. it would be pretty useful to have and it would go well with the F-14. It's disappointing though that with how many projects razbam is working on it will practically take forever if they are working on it. Edit: That wasn't meant to be rude but there's easily a decades worth of modules in progress right now.

It was posted for a "A-7 monday motivation" so such maybe its just the model from their FSX A-7? Is there anything to indicate recent development in that picture? I know nothing about 3d modeling.
-
It would be nice if the modeled changes in topography but I'll give ED a pass on that. I doubt the changes would have any significant affect on any scenarios.
-
I already downloaded a Japanese skin for the K-4 :) I think the A-8 will probably be a good stand in too. But of course the correct assets are preferred.
-
Maybe the A6M5 module will be more of a threat:music_whistling: Just kidding, I know if it is in the plans you can't say anything.
-
Thanks Hiro! Any of those stand out to you or anything interesting to share about any of them? I know assets are all a long way off but I'd like to learn more about the Japanese side through discussion.
-
@Hiro, Does Mag3 have list of aseets you guys plan to compliment the F-4u on or near the launch aside from the carrier? I know the Zero has been teased but are there any ships or ground units planned? Everything of course being subject to change.
-
My guess would be put them in the Pacific section. I'm guessing this would get rebranded as European asset pack. Not that this couldn't use its own suggestions.
-
I'm sure naval assets will come. But apparently the commemorative airforce has three three of them and you can buy a ride in one. I'm sure they'd be a great resource for data. Doing some more reading they have a truly impressive collection including a suprising amount of still flying Japanese WWII planes.

Looking good! Although I'm pretty sure the CIA does't put it's logo on anything except letter head ;)

Supercarrier and helicopters operations
Jester986 replied to nessuno0505's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Brace yourself for "keep it on topic" but to be fair the FAR's say we're supposed to "avoid the flow of fixed wing traffic" but that doesn't mean they get to bully us out of the airspace. Sometime you can't go direct to the ramp. -
Absolutely. This is actually the number one module I want for the Pacific.
-
I meant either AI or full module but your answer was just what I was looking for. It will be difficult to get enough information to do full modules but hopefully some will be manageable.

Supercarrier and helicopters operations
Jester986 replied to nessuno0505's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
And I've had similar experiences with fixed wing aircraft while flying helicopters... The problem is people who are not professionals whether they're paid to fly or not. Not what type of aircraft they fly. there's a piper cub around here who flys around at 50 feet agl, never uses the radio, and takes off and lands regardless of weather even though we get regular IFR traffic. -
The F6F Hellcat was the first American Naval fighter that truly outclassed the Japanese Zero. The zero could still out turn the Hellcat at low altitude but superior speed allowed it's pilots to dictate the terms of the engagement. It was produced and fielded in great numbers and was credited with more kills than any other naval fighter of the war. The Hellcat was one of the main fighters of The Great Marianas Turkey Shoot, which would be an appropriate battle for the map we are getting. It also saw limited service in Europe near Norway and in the Mediterranean with the British.
