If I understood correctly, AH-64 has "Heading Hold" function. It's activated with ATT HOLD with controls neutral/ trimmed position. It's disabled with control input at more than break through value. Heading Hold is also active with ATT HOLD OFF at speed < 40kt. @Raptor9Am I right to think we don't have it yet in DCS ?
-
Yeah, it's great. But if you want to make screenshots/ videos in VR, turn off "balaclava" option in special setting
-
OK thanks. Currently any stick input beyond a threshold just disengage ATT HOLD with Bip sound. It doesn’t re-engage when controls neutral. Heading hold doesn’t seem to work great either. So yes, currently I feel like “fighting” the flight control
-
A thing which happened several times: Decelerating in level flight before landing, stable flight around 60kt, FTR up to set new trim, release the control to neutral and the helicopter pitches up, I have to make large stick input forward to keep it level and make new trim…

@Raptor9 Hi, I’m trying to understand how the flight control system works IRL and how it compares in DCS World right now. We don’t have ALT HOLD mode, but I have the impression that ATT HOLD isn’t doing everything it should right now either. When ATT HOLD is active and you want to change the reference (let’s say doing a turn), do you have to hold FTR and release in the new position or can you just fly though it and it will re-engage once you return controls to neutral/ trimmed position ? If you can speak about it, how and when do you use the ATT/ ALT HOLD modes IRL ? Thanks.

An Idiots Guide to Firing Hellfires with George [Tutorial]
jojo replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in DCS: AH-64D
I guessed it for the active pause, yet your hover was pretty good during the shot. -
Usually, interferometer is used to perform a passive ranging. Like for a RWR you would get azimuth & range estimation. But I am not totally sure for Apache…
-
Yes, that’s what CasmoTV said, he also advised to set manual range to 800m. That will stay through the flight and it’s a better setting to aim with the helmet.
-
At ground speed > 40kt Heading Hold is supposed to be engaged even with ATT Hold OFF. It should disengage and go into “turn coordination” mode if you use ruder and should revert to Heading Hold 1s after rudder neutral and yaw rate < 3°.
-
ATT Hold function depends on speed thresholds V < 05kt: hover (X + Y postion & heading hold) 05kt < V < 40kt: Velocity Hold (Vx + Vy & heading hold) 40kt < V: hold attitude (pitch < 30°/ Roll < 60°), if roll < 3° : wings level If I understand correclty, using FTR should allow to set new reference for ATT Hold.
-
ALT Hold mode is not simulated yet, but from what I read, ATT Hold doesn't seem to work as expected either. But I'm not sure. For instance, below 05kt it should maintain hover position & heading. It doesn't seem to do so currently... But please tell me if you manage to make it work ?

reported Trim with slip indicator always nose left?
jojo replied to MstrCmdr's topic in Bugs and Problems
And what about this video please ? Look after 08:00, the ball is centered, yet the velocity vector is near the head tracker. At these speed in DCS my velocity vector is heavily on the right side ! Is the something new on AH-64E or is the video feed misleading ? -
I would rather wish the former Gueneau 458 helmet

Yes, I saw that off course. But external 3D model doesn't mean they will be able to develop the full flyable Mirage F1 CR or CT. Still, nice IA is welcomed too Nice Mirage F1 CR walk around, including the cockpit. Dassault Mirage F-1CR Walk Around Page 1 (primeportal.net)

We only saw external 3D models. That is cheap to do. Specific cockpit and weapon systems is another thing to do, it's especially hard to get all the needed documentation. I'm not worried about Spanish variants, we'll see if they can pull something out for the others...

Sorry, but your computation is wrong. 1- SFC is actually 25.497mg/N.s => 64490N*0.025497g*60s = 98658g/mn = 98,7kg/mn…which is more in line with low altitude maximum dry thrust in game (That’s 5919kg/hr). 2- at high altitude, the drag is less because of lower air density, but so is the thrust ! You don’t get maximum low altitude thrust when you climb !
-
I would say no, because: - it’s an overweight configuration (it would be more “realistic” to take empty fuselage tank and perform in flight refuelling) - there is always strong winds in high altitude in real life But congratulations for your endurance How long did it takes ? What were your acquise altitude and cruise speed ? Did you do constant/ step climb ?
-
It’s definitely a thing for Mirage 2000-5F, it’s their “war” CAP or long range escort configuration. Unlike Mirage 2000C, Mirage 2000-5F can selectively drop fuel tanks, for instance dropping wing tanks and keeping fuselage tank.

Skynet: An IADS for Mission Builders
jojo replied to flywaldair (Skynet dev.)'s topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Hi, First, many thanks for your work, this is an amazing tool Second, I'm beginner so maybe I missed something ? But it seems like this feature doesn't work anymore: redIADS:setupSAMSitesAndThenActivate Even if I put this line into the code after EWR and SAM setup, if I load the script at the beginning of the mission, the SAM won't setup. I went to Discord, and I found a workaround: defining the SAM as "red state" in mission editor, and load the script after a delay of 1 minute. That way the SAM sites will deploy antenna and shut down, and as expected, the reaction time from SAM site wake up to missile in the air is shorten. If the script loading delay is too short, the deployment animation is just frozen (antennas will stop deployment half way for instance). Thanks Solved When used "redIADS:setupSAMSitesAndThenActivate" must replace "redIADS:Activate" -

Apparently, the missile was properly demilitarized. So the Italian Police just seized a collectible item. Apparently, it's easier to do in Switzerland ! Same origin: demilitarized Qatari Super 530F. Insolite: Il décore sa maison avec des missiles - Le Matin And for the record, Matra R530 isn't the same missile as Matra Super 530F or Super 530D. THERE ISN'T ANY Matra R530D or Super R530 !

You can selectively unselect LOC or GLIDE by using hat trim. For instance, if you use pitch trim, the AP will continue to follow LOC, and you will handle vertical flight path through pitch trim on you own. You can also do the opposite. But then you need to totally disable L|G before engaging it again for full capture

Hi, that's true dedication to help others Just some data to improve your skills: - normal maximum landing weight is 11 000kg. Since the plane doesn't have any weapons load in your video and the empty weight is about 7500kg, even with maximum internal fuel you are below maximum landing weight. Above 11 000kg, you are just required to flare gently - standard aviation practice is to capture LOC first (open box on Mirage), then GLIDE (so no problem in the video) and capture GLIDE from below. It's even more important to do so when using auto pilot to capture the ILS. It isn't really a concern in DCS but IRL the system may fail, and usually at the worst time when you really need it So if you are descending, and the auto pilot fails to capture the GLIDE, it will stay in descent and if the pilot is distracted by radio coms other work load, he may crash. If you are capturing the auto pilot by flying level below the GLIDE path, the plane will initiate the descent at the good moment, which is more noticeable than reducing the descent rate by capturing from above. Also, if the auto pilot fails to capture the GLIDE, you just continue to fly straight and level Overall, you didn't help the system by randomly switching it ON and OFF. At 7:18 you had ILS captured, you could have let it ON and it would have nailed the approach for for you. On short final, you can use "Magic Slave/ AG designate" to toggle OFF (and back ON if needed) ILS symbology. Finally, I think that this file should help anybody to set up ILS approach from the cockpit. Let me know if you find inconsistant data. Cheers M-2000C ILS data for PCN input (digitalcombatsimulator.com)

VIZ ground mapping radar mode, surface target selection.
jojo replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in M-2000
No, you can't designate anything in this mode... By the way it's "VIS" for "visualisation" in French
