Yeah, I'd also add much more lenght/height to all smokes. It could be an option instead of the current "chimney smoke density" but we're long over the times where it seriously affects performance.

@CTB you really should mention that you're using DCS 2.5.6 as many parts of the sim, maps, modules or missions may behave and look quite differently now.

You mean the lead 227 returned to escort the Su-25s and you followed him? Then got "Thank you" from the 425 flight near the base? (I'm just guessing basing on the triggers) I flew this mission and have the same problem as Funky Money. The lead did not go back to escort after "227 flight, resume escort" message. He kept flying orbit so I followed the Su-25s instead and landed but there were no more messages since. Idk about other aircraft but RBM in F-15E uses a single bar azimuth sweeps and that's what is shown on the scope as a result correctly. Others can have different display method, different mode or are just wrongly modeled. If it's MSA radar (and they all are) it has to have a narrow beam moving laterally and just can't scan the whole elevation with one sweep or I am missing something.

DM based on location and internal parts is fully operational for WW2 aircraft afaik. The lesser DM is applied to other aircraft but still based on aircraft parts. Ships and ground units do have general HP but there are still some some calculations and hit locations considered. Ex. front armor is tougher than sides, top and back on the MBT or a ship will burn and have damage applied more or less at the hit locations. At some % damage it will start to smoke, slow down, then stop moving and stop shooting, until it's totally killed/burned/exploded/sunk. There are some long term ED plans to implement better DM for both aircraft and ground units.

You should've started here: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/482-game-crash/ Upload your dcs.log. It's not normal for the DCS to just crash because of the low VRAM and it's not the hard requirement either. Also do file integrity check for DCS in Steam - it's a common crashing reason.

If the E-shop does not offer it then you can't buy any deprecated version. Even if you buy the license for FC2024 you may not be able to download the modules in the old version and for sure not for the newer FC aircraft: F-5E, MiG-15 and F-86.

But it's rarely hardware limit. More like a recommendation. If you use High textures settings on new DCS maps and modules it will eat RAM and VRAM easily, even above 16GB. It also depends on the mission.
