Because they can and it looks best that way. They also use mods (ex. A-4), new aircraft and vehicles (not yet available, ex. A-6, new Tu-95). Misleading? Yes.
You can ask to change the game and eventually get it or not, or you can change your style to accomodate to the game you're playing. You can ask the mission designer to prepare the ready aircraft you desire to jump on or make your own.
Yes, you did. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/78139-rakety-v-dcs/page/556/#findComment-5672192
Now it's all clear. Thanks.
The delayed ignition of the second stage could prove to be a problem in combat though. It'd need constant target data input to calculate the impact time and use it optimally.
I doubt it but what would be the purpose? It's still one file editing. Maybe you don't want to touch the game files but \saved games\dcs folder is fine?
Since every update will revert the changes to the CommandDialogPanel.lua you should have a local copy of both original file and modded one. Then you could run a batch file (one for each) to copy one of them into game files and run DCS. Just an idea.
Yes, my goal is to only have the info and capabilities a real pilot would have. Of course the sim have the tools to know all you want.
You may argue that padlock is just for convenience because ex. you have only 4-way hat to look around but it's still the job of the pilot to find the target and keep it in sight. You don't do much if it's automated for you.
It's hard to miss a runway if you do proper TACAN approach. During the night the lights are on after calling inbound.
