Is there sensor control switch up long press command?
Ziptie replied to hreich's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
As Razor stated - HMD LACQ mode is activated, when in A/A master mode and RDR ATTK display is SOI. If you are unaware of what LACQ is: LACQ is a 40nm range, and shares the same characteristic of HACQ (where the radar azimuth sweep follows the HMD - where you look, that is where the radar is looking). This is a very "generic" description - but should get the point across. Cheers, Ziptie -
This is actually not correct, but close. If your wings are "unlocked" - NWS HI gain will not require you to hold NWS button. You can simply unlock them and don't have to fold them. If your wings are "locked" - you do have to hold NWS button to maintain NWS HI gain. Cheers, Ziptie

Occlusion point (where the HMCS will "blank" or disappear when encroaching with the HUD). Comp BS is not modeled in DCS (that I can tell, at least not yet). Message page is unable to SOI, that is normal. To interact with the MSG page, you need to use the UFC or CDU keys (to type letters for message and receiver) - and use OSB(s) to interact with fields/functions of the MSG page. Not currently modeled in DCS (at least not yet) - but I do believe there is a thread somewhere here on the forum that is has been "reported/acknowledged" as a lacking feature at this time. Do not believe there was an estimation on when/if it will be implemented for DCS. Cheers, Ziptie

If you wanted to change from a CCIP release of a CBU-97 or GBU-12, to a CCRP release of either of those weapons: i.e a surface to air threat has arrived or been noticed and need to minimize the risk of weapon employment by staying at higher altitude (just one example). The lack of a data cartridge in DCS, currently. It's been rumored/discussed/teased for quite some time now, but no update(s). Could be in two weeks, who knows....... In regards to how many live weapons have been fired, in real life, compared to DCS. I'd be willing to bet that the number of real life weapon employments is dwarfed by the weapon employments performed across all the pilots of DCS. There are many more pilots who fly the A10C/CII on DCS, compared to real life - and many DCS players take very unrealistic weapon loadouts (i.e 6 Mavs and multiple TERs of 500 lb'ers). Aside from UPT, you then go to weapons school, IRL - threat scenarios, weapon employment training, simulator use - are all performed and completed, exhaustively - so "they do not get endless hours of experimentation as we do" is not accurate. They have more than DCS players do - while being much more thorough, varying situations, and with a much narrower window of success "acceptance" than DCS players do. Cheers, Ziptie

No mods, don't do those. I made a video, to show the behavior I experience - but was unable to upload it to YouTube before I left. Haven't been back to fly virtually as of yet (last post made above here in this thread). Hoping to have another opportunity to fly virtually towards the end of the week - but nothing is guaranteed for anyone in life, myself included, virtual flying included. Sucks right? Not too bad. I do create profiles via DSMS, as that is what you should do to ensure specific employment parameters of equipped weapon(s). From what I experience, CCIP master mode, then DSMSR cycles the two CCIP weapon profiles, then an additional DMSR goes into the CCRP weapon profiles (until weapon off profile is attained). Maybe it is just the weapons I have onboard, and/or a combination of profiles set. This behavior, I do believe, contradicts a behavior I described earlier - however that is on page 1 and while typing this, cannot go back a page without losing this text. Either way, weapons/properly can be cycled properly via HOTAS - but as the OP's question was "without HUD SOI" - it is still a no, unless you do so via the DSMS. Cheers, Ziptie

resolved F-16 won't go back to nav from AA. Can anyone help?
Ziptie replied to ironcross's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
And if you enter A/A master mode via the ICP, simply press A/A master mode again, via the ICP to return to NAV mode (ensure your dogfight switch is centered for this and the other scenarios described/outlined by others in previous replies/posts). Cheers, Ziptie -
Sensor Point of Interest Can be one of the following: CDU (steerpoint or mark point). TMS aft long for STPT SPI IFFCC (with HUD SOI,TDC SLEW, TMS forward long for IFFCC SPI ) MAV (with this sensor SOI,TDC SLEW, TMS forward long for MAV SPI ) TGP (with this sensor SOI,TDC SLEW, TMS forward long for TGP SPI ) HMCS (with this sensor SOI,TDC SLEW, TMS forward long for HMCS SPI ) EDIT - I forgot: TAD (with this sensor SOI,TDC SLEW, TMS forward long for TAD SPI ) SPI is the point in space that a sensor is referencing. I don’t know about confirming or denying your analogy - better to just use the correct acronym(s). Cheers, Ziptie

Could be a limitation "external" to the BRU-55 (i.e wiring or a hardware/software system limitation on the aircraft itself). I don't know for sure, one way or the other, and would be speculation if I sided one way or the other. Hopefully an official Eagle Dynamics representative will be able to sort out your question. Cheers, Ziptie

What airfield? Crosswind? Symmetric or asymmetric loadout (aside from the normal imbalance of TGP on one side, jammer on the other)? What was the takeoff weight? Rotating around 130 sounds a bit early for what I normally do - could have generated a bit too much force on the rear tire(s) and blown one...? This has happened to me before, I was at Incirlik (which has a sloping runway in parts), was a bit heavy (but not over or at max takeoff weight), and there was moderate crosswind present. Cheers, Ziptie

No worries. Personally, I use TMS aft long to change SPI back to STPT (which will leave the TGP LOS at it's current location). Also, I am notorious for creating mark points on my intended targets (unless it's a quick engagement/employment of weapon). That is done via DMS right short. Then I cycle the CDU switch to MARK, and cycle through them that way (which helps with keeping the TGP from "walking"). Maybe that might help you out a little bit? Cheers, Ziptie

Recorded a video for you today, it's a short one and is about 45 seconds. I did however, neglect uploading it to YouTube before I left the house. I'll work on doing that for you tomorrow or Saturday. Maybe we can see if I was misunderstanding the complaint/observation, whether it is a help or not. Cheers, Ziptie

Yeah, I have no idea how people fly DCS without VR. Can’t imagine not being able to actually “look” where you are looking. Seems like a deal breaker for me. Racing simulator, sure a triple screen setup can work - but a flight sim? No way. VR all the way. Getting the performance and clarity can take quite a bit of time and effort to perfect (per user) but it is worth it. Excited to see if 2.7 brings the performance gains for VR, and whenever their API change/upgrade happens as well. Cheers, Ziptie

I can’t really say it is false, works as outlined prior for me. Thanks! Gotta go help clean out a bunch of Moose code for our mission, I’ll see if I can manage to record something tomorrow for you Cheers, Ziptie

Do I correctly see (VR) pilot body improvements here?
Ziptie replied to sirrah's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
It is.... Cheers, Ziptie -
Your problem might be, that you are saying (and possibly using Coolie Hat Forward Long) CHINA HAT forward long slaves all sensors to SPI. CHINA HAT FL absolutely slaves all sensors (including the TGP) to SPI. Also, double check that your SPI isn’t TGP (indicated on bottom left of HUD). If SPI is TGP - CHINA HAT FL won’t slave your TGP anywhere other than where it is currently “looking.” Cheers, Ziptie

Negative, haven’t had much time to make any videos - however I did fly again today. I think my experience might be different due to the weapon loadout I use? Not sure. I carry 1xCBU97, 4xGBU54, 2xAGM65G, 7xM151APKS, 2xAIM9M, 1xTGP, 1xALQ184. When I select CCIP MM, DMSR, it calls up the 97 (I have profile set for CCIP for that weapon is DSMS PROF), DMSR again calls up MAV. When I select CCRP MM, DMSR, it calls up GBU54, DMSR, it calls up APKS. Maybe I was misunderstanding what the complaint/observation was before - or maybe I am disciplined enough to know what release mode I want/need for each weapon I intend to employ? Either way, system(s) work perfectly for me and as expected. Hope that helps or clarifies something. Cheers, Ziptie

Well the box with the diamond in the middle of it - is 100% your TGP LOS. Depending on what type of track you had the TGP in (PTRK, ATRK, INR) dictates the likelihood of your TGP recovering from gimbal roll (or not). The TGP can be masked - but the HMCS will still indicate where the TGP is looking (you just won't see an image on the display (either MFD or HMCS if you have the TGP image toggled on for the HMCS - which is DMSLS with HMCS SOI by the way). I use VR, so I have no experience with TrackIR (thankfully) - but I can definitively say - that being able to "look" at a target, target AO, or suspected target AO, with you Mk. I eyeballs, and quickly snap the TGP LOS to that spot/area - is single handily the biggest advantage of having the HMCS (there are loads of other benefits of course, creating a mark point via the HMCS is just one other). It is a shame that is seems like this is a difficulty for you with TrackIR - but something I would strongly recommend you working on a solution to remedy. Whether that is discovering a way to achieve this while using TrackIR, or contemplating stepping up to a VR headset. Cheers, Ziptie

fixed Spawning on cats - can't remove chocks
Ziptie replied to StandingCow's topic in Bugs and Problems
This, 100%. Able to replicate, every single time. Hope this can get sorted out. Thanks for highlighting @Sharkku Cheers, Ziptie -
The negative curve "brings on the g's" with less stick movement. As for whether this would be an issue for the OP - unknown. But the OP could choose to try the negative curve, see if they liked it. If not, try a positive curve, see if they liked it. All down to user preference. I prefer to move the stick much less, when flying the Viper - to try and replicate the real deal (my fancy pressure command base has not been ordered, yet) - hence the negative curve. I feel that when using the full travel of the TMWH stick - it makes the Viper feel far too sluggish. Cheers, Ziptie

Mileage may vary, user preference. I use VR, so some of the keybinds are set so I don't have to toggle things within the cockpit with the mouse, keeping 'HOTAS' Cheers, Ziptie Throttle_-_HOTAS_Warthog_A6F167F0-731B-11e8-8002-444553540000.diff.lua Joystick_-_HOTAS_Warthog_A6F167F0-731B-11e8-8001-444553540000.diff.lua

Try setting your curves to -20 for pitch and roll. I’ve done that, and it feels alive now. Much less input to deal with, also as a bonus is makes PIO’s less prevalent when AAR. Until a pressure command stick is available for the sim (like it uses in real life) - it will always be a compromise for us all. As for why it isn’t fully linear - no idea - probably because there are so many different input devices out there, they settled on a compromise? IDK Cheers, Ziptie

The box with the Diamond in it - is the LOS of your TGP. It is also indicating (the the small size) - that your TGP is in narrow field of view and zoomed in (probably max). Cheers, Ziptie

3 flap positions. UP MVR (maneuver) FULL As others have stated, the TMWH has a 3 position switch, and is able to command all 3 positions. Cheers, Ziptie

Have you tried loading your A10CI throttle profile, to the A10CII ? If it works as intended for the I, simply load it for the II and should be no problem...? Then you can reference it and see what your issue/mistake was... I simply loaded my “I” profile for the “II” when I released, and have had zero issues. Just a few things to remind (CMS).
