  1. I have not tested ground crew rearm/refuel with the engine off and leaving the AAR door closed (or refueling probe retracted). Would be great if someone was able to test before I can, as I'm not sure if I am able to fly virtually tomorrow. If I am able to fly tomorrow, will give that a go and see if it will fill external fuel tanks without opening/extending AAR (inert tanks). Cheers, Ziptie
  2. "Above or below" you should use VACQ (vertical acquisition) which focuses the radar. This doesn't mean directly above your canopy or below your cockpit - but in this mode the radar will scan vertically, at a set degree - nose low and nose high. If you have the HMD enabled - entering WACQ and other ACM modes doesn't "just" cue off the HMD - but also from the normal orientation of the HUD. For example, you can be in HACQ - and get a lock by looking off boresight with the HMD (within gimbal limits) - or put the enemy in the HUD and it will still achieve a lock. Sounds like you are using WACQ, when you should be using VACQ. Should be SCS aft ACM mode - but I always use the HMD, so in ACM mode, it requires SCS left - then SCS aft to enter VACQ. If you don't use the HMD, you should just be able to SCS aft (after you are in ACM mode). Cheers, Ziptie
  3. In my opinion, Rave One is by far the best campaign out there for the Hornet (probably across all modules even). I haven't tried any of the new ones, but have heard very mixed reviews about most of them - so will be holding off on those. Raven One has a few missions that are "slow" - by that I mean they are more of a training mission. That being said, they are still enjoyable, and the whole campaign actually "forces" you to learn/know the aircraft (systems and tactics). Really, really enjoyable. I've played through the campaign twice - and will certainly complete it a third time in the future. Cheers, Ziptie
  4. Are you using the HMD? This is the number one question for your OP. If you are using the HMD and know where he is, you will want to use HACQ. If you using the HMD and aren't exactly sure where he is, you will want to use WACQ. If you are in a lag pursuit, VACQ or WACQ could be useful if you don't have a tally. If you are in a lag pursuit, are using the HMD and have tally - HACQ would most likely be the quickest way to get a radar lock, but the others should also work. There are many other merge situations, aside from the ones that I referenced above - just a couple examples. Cheers, Ziptie
  5. Guessing it makes the tank pressure inert - like opening the AAR door....? Just guessing. Not saying that is real world realistic, or isn't. Just guessing. Cheers, Ziptie

It would also be cool, if Combined Arms actually "worked" with VR Cheers, Ziptie
  7. In our mission, every store is limited (including external tanks and even racks for weapons) - so jettisoning the eternal tanks when empty isn't an option for any of us, unless you are in danger of losing the aircraft (i.e. engagement/IFE). With that being said, I can confirm that opening the AAR 'door' or extending the fuel probe (depending on aircraft) while on the ground, prior to rearm/refuel ground crew interaction, does indeed fill the external and internal tanks. Tested with the Hornet, Tomcat, Viper and A10C (the latter was just for inclusion - in the mission, I never actually use externals on the A10C). Landed with 10% to 50% internal fuel remaining, and each time, successfully had the internal and external tanks filled. Better than removing them via ground crew, then asking them to put them back on the aircraft again (for me at least). Cheers, Ziptie

You could simply extend the boarding ladder when you first enter the aircraft, prior to pressing F2, to start your walk around..... Then when you go into the ground crew menu, you could add that you your preflight checklist. Cheers, Ziptie
  9. Give us a look, if you are looking for a unique / one of a kind mission experience. Our public mission is taken seriously - our weekly 'closed' mission is taken extremely seriously. Both are persistent and offer things that no other mission does, in DCS. We have several A10C pilots, myself included, and team work is 100% mandatory for progress in the mission - without it, REDFOR (aka Skynet, thanks to our game master) will be unstoppable. https://discord.gg/UHHYEfks Cheers, Ziptie
  10. All the new and unique features keep racking up - fantastic. Really happy to see our community grow and not surpass 1,500 members. Time flies (see what I did there) .. Cheers, Ziptie
  11. Rob beat me to it - but he nailed it. Hope it helps you. Cheers, Ziptie
  12. Very odd. I use the mini stick on my Warthog HOTAS for the Hornet, same input as what is used on the A10C (and F16C). No idea why yours is not able to be assigned...... Cheers, Ziptie
  13. Does using the indication of where the TGP is looking on the SA page not assist you? It is much better for reference or orientation to your aircraft, than the degrees up/down left/right on the FLIR display.... Cheers, Ziptie
  14. Our server has grown exponentially after a certain "popular DCS YouTuber" released a video showing a very small part of the mission. While it isn't for "newbies" - it is a "friendly" community. Personally, I find single player exceptionally boring after flying in MP. That being said, I only fly in one multiplayer server. Single player could be boring for me, because once you get accustomed to what is available in the XSAF mission, all others feel "lacking." Biggest reason being that most servers "it doesn't matter" if you don't bring the aircraft home or are careless with your stores (including fuel) - in ours, it all matters and matters big time. I agree that comms are the biggest frustration in multiplayer. I haven't tried the built in DCS comms. Discord comms become a joke when you have more than a handful of players, unless they are all very disciplined over comms. SRS is the best solution currently - but it becomes even more difficult when people don't know how to use SRS, have it setup incorrectly - or when you need to monitor more radio frequencies, simultaneously, than the aircraft allows and some are using DCS SRS scripts and others aren't. Personally, I connect external EAM so I am not limited by the number of radios in a given aircraft. Cheers, Ziptie
  15. Odd. In F18 GAME or F18 SIM controls settings? Hoping to be back home tomorrow and will post a screen shot of my controls to see if you can reference it that way. They are definitely different "names" from the A10C to the FA18C (in terms of what they call the Hotas slew / TDC). Cheers, Ziptie
  16. Yeah, just literally realized the guide I have been referencing is "Chuck's guide" Not often I even dig into the "manual" as I am used to how the aircraft functions - but was simply reading the page after reading the OP. Either way, works for me (in the aircraft) as I am used to how it has been implemented. Back to not reading the manual and operating the aircraft proficiently. Cheers, Ziptie
  17. Ah, my fault - I have "Chuck's" guide downloaded on my computer - was referencing the wrong manual. My fault. Cheers, Ziptie
  18. I have the OSB pushbutton that corresponds with STEP when SA page is displayed on AMPCD, bound to my HOTAS, so I can cycle through the contacts (when TDC priority is not assigned to SA page)- to have better (more continuous) SA on a hostile - also correlating data with radar display, to ensure I am engaging the desired target. Side note - I do also have the AZEL displayed when I am performing A/A engagements. I am quite familiar with the Hornet, and stay up with the "new" DCS updates, as they roll out. Simply acknowledging your post - and contributing to the fact that either they need to update their flight manual - or change the implemented functionality in game. Cheers, Ziptie
  19. Read the image. "STEP function replaces the TDC cursor with a rectangular box" It's not "my" wording - it's in the flight manual. Cheers, Ziptie
  20. REC = receive (gives you the indication above left DDI as to what type of tracking emitter is active) XMIT = transmit (this is the only way it will "jam") Cheers, Ziptie
  21. Look for Throttle Designator Cursor (under axis controls sub tab). There is something name similarly Throttle Designator Cursor (slew) that isn't able to be bound via axis - but the first one can. Not sure why they have them both in the axis section. Cheers, Ziptie
  22. The behavior described on the page is nothing like what I experience. First of all - STEP doesn't just step between hostile contacts, it steps between all contacts (friend or foe). Secondly - when TDC priority is on the SA page, STEP does not cycle through different contacts - it steps to where the TDC is (and doesn't cycle between contacts). Thirdly - when TDC priority is on the SA page, STEP does not "replace" the TDC with the rectangular box (this is only achieved) when TDC priority is not SA page. So I am curious - does the manual need to be modified, or does the behavior in game need to be modified? Cheers, Ziptie
  23. Page 379 maybe? Regardless, you can use WPDSG from the HSI as well - maybe they should amend it to read: HSI/SA. Cheers, Ziptie
  24. Selecting a different profile for sure - that that takes just as long (or longer) than DMSLL to disable it..... The OP wants the toggle switch to be bind"able" and @LeCuviersquared him/her away. Cheers, Ziptie
