  1. +1 Had the exact same thing happen to me, twice. CPU usage stays the same, RAM usage stays the same - GPU usage drops to 0% . 1. WPTDSG via SA page / HSI 2. SURF via RDR ATTK display. 3. EXP1 toggle. RESULT = DCS locks up, then task manager shows the CPU, RAM and GPU information listed above. This was approximately 2 hours into a MP session. Second time, I performed step 1 and 2. Then EXP2 toggle. Result = DCS locks up, then task manager shows the CPU, RAM and GPU information listed above. This was approximately 5 minutes after a complete restart of DCS and Oculus software. Track file writing is disabled in my autoexec.cfg file to mitigate unnecessarily large files being written to my SSD, as I primarily fly MP and they are 4+ hour stints. Cheers, Ziptie
  2. If you want to remove the FLOLS overlay which pops in your cockpit just before landing: - close DCS - go here C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\tech\Supercarrier\PLATCameraUI - open FLOLS.lua in admin mod (with Notepad++ for example) - line 41, replace "FLOLS:setVisible(val)" by "FLOLS:setVisible(false)" - save, close and restart DCS And put "false" to "val" to revert Cheers, Ziptie
  3. Have you setup the weapon profiles (customized them) via the DSMS prior to using mater mode select and then cycling individual profiles in CCIP or CCRP? Most likely the cause if you haven't setup the weapons profiles via PROF in the DSMS. Would be happy to make a quick video the next time I am available if it would help. Cheers, Ziptie
  4. Fair enough. I can tell you that from the north bay by Incirlik, down south by Rene-Mouawad - it's well over 200nm. So if you were to place the carrier group in the top left of the map, you'd have more than enough flight time, that you are looking for. Regardless, it's your decision and I'm confident that once you've purchased it, you won't be disappointed with your decision - whenever that might be. I've put my .02 in for yourself and others, time to go enjoy it in VR for myself again. Cheers, Ziptie
  5. Yes for the boom operator, although you need to fly the aircraft into a proper position before they will do the fine adjustments to contact. If TVV and pitch ladder are offset to one side, it would most likely be from a crosswind, yes. Cheers, Ziptie
  6. In Wags' most recent Hornet video update (today) - he subtly teases the island of Cyprus (along with no so subtly teasing the new clouds). The map is optimized well enough to not wait, in my opinion. After going back and running a few flights on PG and Syria - PG has less performance than Syria, at least on my machine. .02 As for the lack of discount via Steam, that you seem to indicate - that, along with poorer performance in VR is exactly why I transitioned to stand alone. One of the best moves I've made for DCS. Might be worth consideration. Cheers, Ziptie
  7. Looks like you need to drop the seat height a bit. Not sure if you are playing in VR or not (I do) - but I always have to lower the seat height when I get into the aircraft for the first time of a session. Personally, I place the current SPI (in this case STPT) and current mission time to sit just on the bottom of the HUD glass / just above the UFC. In your first picture, you can see how much "dead space" you have at the bottom of the HUD (even in the second picture). It's always been like this for me, with both A10C's - but could be a difference in 2D to 3D..? Cheers, Ziptie
  8. Nose trim down (when pushed) "drops the nose" - Nose trim down. Nose trim up (when pushed) "lifts the nose" - Nose trim up. The trim switch on the A10C works like most other aircraft with a trim switch. Cheers, Ziptie
  9. Yeah, your PC specs might get you into a little bit of trouble running Syria (although if you are using a monitor maybe not...?). I use VR, and my PC specs are in my signature - and I get solid 30FPS in MP with it, however the mission in our server is highly optimized and runs just as good as SP even though it has 1,000 units (approx) and is dynamic. Another thing to consider is the "Syria surface textures trick" - but that is for another thread most likely. I ran it on the monitor the other day, without VR, and was in the high 90FPS in cockpit, cracking well above 150FPS external views (touched 219FPS in F3 flyby). It's not as bad as many make it out to be. For your 2nd point - the carrier can already be placed quite close to shore, requiring a short hop to go feet dry, so don't let the island of Cyprus not being there stop you if that was really a sticking point to "getting it close to land." Cheers, Ziptie
  10. Yeah, I am also lucky that I have 3 Cougar MFD's at my disposal - most of the time I just press the OSB twice if I want one of the MFD's SOI (if it isn't already). Cheers, Ziptie
  11. Syria map > F16C (at this time). As others have said, the F16C needs to develop more before it really is worth it, in my opinion. I bought the Viper on Day 1, and wish I wouldn't have bothered. Sure, it's the Viper and it's very different to the Hornet (and certainly the Tomcat) - sure, they are working on it and in my opinion dong the best they can to get it closer to complete - but it's going to be a lot longer until it's complete. Syria is absolutely beautiful, a massive map, that has true elevation changes, some epic canyons to carve, some amazing architecture / landmarks, allows for sea and land based operations, looks terrific night or day - along with having the incoming Cyprus addition (in the future). Plus, come fly in our MP server - you'll the most unique DCS experience possible - true dynamic mission. Considering the price reduction of Syria currently - for sure best bang for your buck. Enjoy it! Oh, another member mentioned adding the UH-1H to your basket while you were at it - completely agree. Tried it during the free to play event and purchased it after 5 flights. Also a VR user here, and it truly is something special to do low levels flights, pop the doors open and have the door gunners employ a bunch of freedom on targets below (then add the newly introduced multi crew and it's even better to be able to fly with your friends). Cheers, Ziptie
  12. The extra half second to make one of the MFD's SOI can get you into trouble for sure - however you really should be having the proper sensors displayed on the MFDs while you're in the AO anyways. Then you can use the master mode and appropriate DMS commands with HUD SOI (if needed to select proper weapon). I always have the MAV selected if I am somewhat unsure of threat, that way a quick CHFS with HUD SOI calls up the MAV sensor display and you can quickly employ. As another said above, it has a unique flow for sure. Cheers, Ziptie
  13. Fair enough. That being said, if you need to employ a weapon quickly in the A10 - you can do that. That being said, the A10 is best utilized in a "pre planned" employment style - but she can still provide a quick, " holy $%@# " attack. In my case at least, you are correct - it was what I learned when first getting into DCS and to boot I was using a cheap Thrustmaster TFlight4 PS/PC HOTAS - which made it tricky as there were very limited buttons available. If I recall correctly, I had 4 or 5 modifiers - using combinations for TMS, DMS and CMS - etc etc etc. I think it was actually more of a learning curve once I got the TMWH - muscle memory was just getting developed. All that being said, I do think that it has made learning other aircraft easier, in regards to the HOTAS operation. Cheers, Ziptie
  14. I find it exceptionally easy and fluid - but I've been doing it for a long time now, could be why. Cheers, Ziptie
  15. The TRIM hat binds should be located in the HOTAS (or stick) sub category of the A10CII controls menu. They are the standard four bindings: NOSE UP, NOSE DOWN, RWD, LWD. Depending on what physical HOTAS you are using, it is possible to accidentally bind one of the aforementioned commands incorrectly (i.e binding NOSE DOWN to one of the 8 way hat positions on the TMWH rather than the 12 o'clock, or forward position). If you are having troubles with trimming the aircraft out, and have verified that they are indeed bound properly - ensure that you do not have "game mode" checked as I believe GAME MODE doesn't allow for proper trimming of aircraft. The above are a few "shots in the dark" as you didn't really clarify the problem you are having - just a generalized statement (that was fairly vague). Cheers, Ziptie
  16. Have you checked to see if the issue you outline is the same in the A10CII ? I only ask, because you posted this issue in the A10CII forum, while your video link is in the cockpit of the A10CI..... Developers and moderators can be a touch picky about that. Cheers, Ziptie
  17. Check to see if your "subtitles" have been unchecked, via the audio(?) section of the options menu in DCS. Not sure if you are only able to toggle this on/off via the main menu, or while in flight - but sounds like subtitles have been disabled to me. I still get all the proper text at the top of the screen and subtitles is checked for me. Cheers, Ziptie
  18. If I recall correctly - this was acknowledged as an issue, but so far nothing has been corrected with it. That being said, I have fired laser mavericks (while self lasing) from 6-7nm with no issue of the laser switching off (like what you are describing and what happens in Wags' video). I haven't employed them from a further distance than that. Cheers, Ziptie
  19. You should probably copy your original post and create this thread in the proper airframe channel, as you have placed this in the A10C 'II' forum (would assume inadvertently). Cheers, Ziptie
  20. @BIGNEWYor @NineLine - you want to slide this thread on over to the Viper forum, it's in the wrong place and probably not getting the OP the proper feedback from targeting pilot audience. Cheers, Ziptie
  21. Did you sort out your issue with the throttle percentages or still experiencing it? Cheers, Ziptie
  22. LTD/R, but he is correct that the switch will auto"magically" return to the aft SAFE position, approx 5-10 seconds after ordinance hits the target - requiring you to ARM the LTD/R switch again before employing your next laser guided munition. Cheers, Ziptie
  23. Odd, tried it today and it worked as intended. Cheers, Ziptie
  24. I was simply highlighting that it is possible to progress through the training mission. I understand that it isn't perfect, and to fix it - I'm sure it's possible. Priority? Clearly not in their eyes. Doesn't mean I agree with it. You had stated that you couldn't "progress in the training mission" - I was simply providing a method to progress, as players aren't "stuck." Is it right? No. Is it manageable? Yes. We're on the same side here sir, no need for feeling like I'm putting you down or attacking you. Cheers, Ziptie
