Did a test today all in VR, single helo down low in Ushuaia (the new area with better optimization) fly from the helo port across the new town, which does look amazing, FPS sat at around 26-40 depending on which part of town you were over, mostly the FPS went up as you left and hit the country. Id still consider this unplayable as no AI unit were on the map, as soon as AI gets added in its going be really bad. On Caucus, Syria, Saini I'm getting mid to late 60s with these settings null

Great update and load times are now great. Some inconsistent msgs about bugs being fixed when clearly they weren't (hind R60) and better SA map optimisation when it's clearly worse than before when you try it. But over all a good patch, the new MP interface is good but still needs some QOL stuff done to it to make it really good. Sent from my CPH2333 using Tapatalk

The maps performance with the update is still bad and in fact worse than before this release. We have been running a SA TTi all week with what many described as decent performance across many systems and none VR and VR. This included high alt runs to low alt helo ops from the Punta Arenas TTi main airfield. With the new patch last night we were all getting about a 20-50% frame rate loss down low around the Punta Arenas area, helicopter missions were mostly unplayable, at one point my 13900K and 4090 tanked to around 16-22 FPS, the night before same mission it was around 39-45 FPS. The update has decreased performance in this map now around the main towns on the mainland. The Falklands were ok though and Mount Pleasant and Port Stanly were really good.
-
Flew around today same TTi mission server was running yesterday, compared to yesterday, the FPS around Punta Arenas are abysmal, managed to tank my 4090 down to 22FPS in a F15SE low, yesterday it was around 40-45, up high no issues and still hitting 90. We then took Hinds from Punta Arenas to the town again, managed to get into high teens, they certainly have optimized it, if anything its worse on the main land. Falklands was better, Port Stanly and Mt Pleasant stayed around 60-77 Short answer NO, its actually worse.

I believe this will add more sales and more use of the map, however your entitled to your views

We have had a SA TTi running on it the last few days and its been great fun. The one thing we notice is the map needs a couple of larger military airfields placed on, while this would not be correct as per the region only have certain airfields, I believe creative license should be applied and some larger bases added to aid uptake and playability.

Ok cool, so the G2 has a small sweet spot so it's only going to be clear in the sweet spot, if you haven't found where it is yet you possibly need to move the headset around on your head, but you are not going to get clear gauges & mfds by using your eyes to look around. Next do you have the OpenXR toolkit, you really need that too. I'd like to see an in game screen pic of what you mean by dark cockpit. FYI here was my current G2 settings before I went to the Crystal, these gave me good FPS through most maps A good staring point in OpenXR toolkit is I have OpenXR toolkit enabled and in game my settings are Enable FSR and set it 85% Set Sharping at 80% Set Framelock to 60 Turbo Mode ON In OpenXR toolkit you can adjust loads of settings on the page I show, you can adjust contrast and brightness to your liking null

Is that the Smart Smooting option ??, I dont see motion reprojection in Pimax client
-
When you say clarity do you mean the planes (gauges, MFD, models) or the maps (terrains) Also what's the current HMD ??, brightness can be fixed using Open XR Toolkit. Your rig should run DCS fine, I have similar specs and used a G2 now using a Pimax Crystal with no issues. But everyone expects some thing different from VR and we understand what you want from it is the first part of the VR Game, I have guys who wont fly VR DCS because they hate how the terrain looks an the low textures no VR headset will fix that. What's maps are you finding issues in, Syria really needs 64gb ram for VR I personally believe Can you also please take the pics of your settings using 2D and also the VR tab, there is no need to take it in VR as it makes it hard to see your settings Also switch that to on, you should always be using the latest runtime

Pro Tip for a new user and existing user When you add a new controller to your set up it will map any and all axis it has across every module you have on the X,Y,Z RZ, RX axis and so, so please remember to go back into every module and unbind the ones not needed, other wise when you spawn in a module it will more than likely take off or act strange to these new axis bindings you did not want.

Thanks I cant see anything in the Pimax client that lets you override its resolution (change it), I know I can be done in OpenXR Toolkit which I havent touched.
-
Hi mbucchai Curios PimaxXR says this nullwhen I open it, its reporting a resoulution 4132x5102 @ 90hz, is that what it will be using in DCS ??
-
Are you using Turbo mode in OpenXR ??, if so try with it off
-
Im running 1.0PD in DCS, I never change it there.

Ill put my settings up with this post. I need to clarify what i consider outstanding clarity and visuals, for me the Pimax has made every helicopter and plane cockpit and model outstanding to look at, I can read all the gauges and MFDs across the whole lens range and they are not blurry compared to the G2 which had a small sweet spot, this is with every module I own, the details in the the latest modules for me the Apache and F15SE, I'm seeing details in the cockpit and external models' didn't see with the G2. Now to the elephant in the room and that is the DCS maps (terrains), the Pimax made no difference to it, in fact it made me realize how old the terrain engine is is even on new maps, new maps like Syria and Sinai still have low poly models everywhere and blurry ground and model textures and I notice it even more now with a Pimax, the G2 masked it a little as it was always a little blurry out of the sweet spot. There is no fix for this what ever headset we own, the reality is the ED terrain engine is an old and no mater how hi the clarity in the headset it wont fix that, of course the new ground units look great too. I will also mention I didn't have 2x MSAA on and was getting great FPS in the instant start Apache training grounds live fire range Caucus mission (65-72 FPS), I turned on MSAAx2 to reduce the shimmer the DCS terrain has and my FPS have settled at 45-55 now. As for your FPS I cant comment they are different specs from mine and I have a very carefully optimized computer set up for just running games

I can concur with @Sneakybastd report except my microphone is working really well and its been reported by my mates on Discord my comms is very clear I find the headset really well balanced and comfy and can wear it the full use of the batteries if needs 4+ hrs depending on if the USB charging hub is being used. Im not having any DCS stutter issues though but im happy with less than 90 FPS and dont notice any stutter. Once I settle on some settings I will post min up.

I fly with DCSNZA, you have too at some stage

Crystal, original post updated

Just received my Pimax Crystal with glass lens, coming from a G2 3 years, out of the box no DCS settings changed....OMG OMG, clarity and colors and FPS are amazing, the cockpit details I'm now seeing are just incredible in the AH64, F15SE and F16 so far. FYI my PC specs are up there 4090, 13th gen, 64gig, highly optimised PC to get the best out of the G2, this has translated to a very good out of the box experience with the Pimax Crystal From software installation to flying 20 mins max. Falklands map - wish list, ideas for its growth, and knowledge base
Hotdognz replied to minar's topic in DCS Core Wish List
As a map the SA map needs big airbases as the main thing to make it grow in use from a player point of view, the maps too big for the amount of major airbases it has and they are all crammed in the bottom half or a long way from each other, I believe Razbam should take some creative license for this map and make a couple of larger base somewhere up north, with out these it will stay a niche product which is a shame as it could be one of the best maps in DCS with its varied terrain and area. But also I agree with you the main purpose of this map was to promote the Argentine vs UK war of the Falkland's and for that to work the DCS world needs correct ground models and plane models, unfortunately with the way ED have DCS set up its a hard task as they do not support the 3D modeling community in any easy way as to make the use of 3rd party assets easy to implement. -
That sounds like a fun time, im going to recreate that mission for our pub crawl night on my server, Im going to even block the runways at Nellis so they players have to use the taxi way .
-
SharpeXB you really do have a lot of names for people who don't agree with you, such a shame you label people like this. Says who, as a server owner I allow what I want to happen on my server.
-
That would depend on whos public server it is, they might allow it.

No REDFOR in most multiplayer servers
Hotdognz replied to Blackhawk NC's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Its because ED doesn't add anything to the gameplay in DCS, they leave that up to individuals to make the content for their game and best cobble missions together how they can from the assets provided by ED, its easier to go PVE for a lot of servers as at least they can include Redfor AI in those missions even though the AI is simple its still makes for a believable scenario, that's how our servers run, our main group of pilots has no interest in going Blue vs Blue in PVP, if we do a PVP we only use Redfor and Bluefor matched plane sets. DCS is very much heading along the road towards being a systems simulator and it will be a dam good one at that for sure, as far as being a combat simulator goes it diminishes its self each time a Blufor aircraft is released, the last Redfore plane was the Jeff, we haven't had any new Redfor AI air or ground assets for a long time and with the amount of development time it takes just to get a AI model out (take the new B1 model which has been shown now for 2 years) it would take a long time for ED to get out new AI assets for DCS.
