I will buy a day or two before the release date, if that is next week or in 6 months time I don't care or need to too as I have placed no money down so far for a module that has been 10 years coming, I will still get to enjoy it as much as any one who pre ordered but don't have the anxiety of the wait for release.

I understand that ED are letting us know about a new plane and it seems letting other developers know that a new plane is coming and that it has now been taken/assigned to a developer. (its a rather strange way to let other devs know from a PM point of view) But also the news about the beginning or end of a sale, I believe its hardly worth pointing this out to people who know the sale is going on and will have already made their purchases, just seems like filler to me. ED this is the really the big opportunity each week to tell us major news that's going on in the world of DCS even it its ages away from release, I know you may say look at the forum but not every one will do that. What would be nice from these news letters is some info on a regular basis about the EA modules that are still in development, that have had little to no news about them last year, for example. The Mosquito, which had very little news last year but surely still had a ton of development done in the back ground that would be worth sharing And I must say it The forgotten Yak52, no news at all from what I can recall in 2022, this module has been in EA nearly as long as the Hornet nearly 4.5 years to be exact, the Hornet released the 1st June 2018, the Yak52 Aug 3rd 2018. The Yak52 is a way less complex plane than any of your other modules, but you have fallen way behind in finishing it off and it seems it truly is a forgotten module for ED, for a module with much more simplified systems as this bird, it could/should have be completed by now and out of EA years ago with all the talented coders that you have on board at ED now. (look what you did with the BS3) Sure they will come in here and say we have no news to share and will share it when we have some but that's the std reply for everything for this type of question. I really believe the news letter content creators should have a good look at refreshing what they put out to the community, as its starting to look a little stale, but that's only my opinion. Cheers

$8 bucks bugger that will hurt at least I still have my money in my pocket and will buy after the surprised drop when ever that is in 2023.

Thanks for the reply's, I wont buy with trailing planes in DCS, ill wait for it to be on the free trail at some point

Open beta the OpenVR performance for stand alone has dropped by at least 20-30% for me today compared to yesterday, a real step backwards so far

I would imagine using MT mission loading times are less than using ST, thats how I would read that line

This is still broken, there is no way for \ to bring up the comms menu as it does in every other ED module, I kn the rad can be used for it but that is not how a every other ED module has it mapped.

I see this module doesn't have a trail for 2 weeks, anyone know why ?? Cheers

correct as is 10/03/23: Tedac off centre in CPG view, in VR
Hotdognz replied to Varry007's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yep its correct as is now, I post that it was incorrect and we were sitting on the LHS armrest in VR, its now so much better. -
@NineLineThis the best update DCS has had in years regarding preformance, VR is now fantastic when you get it tweaked right in the graphics and it still does need tweaking but thats fine with me, I was flying on our regular Foothold mission and gave gone from a steady -45-55 to 65-81 FPS, im now looking forward to the future with DCS again, congratulations to the whole ED team.

Multithreading Performance is Sensational in VR
Hotdognz replied to Flextremes's topic in Virtual Reality
Just tried some other maps with MT after posting my initial thoughts and tried some heavey AI populated instant action missions, I now firmly believe I'm seeing no improvement in FPS in this first stage of the MT release on my rig, I can get better FPS my self by tweaking OpenXR Toolkit settings Caucus CPU8.8/GPU 11.4 Syria CPU8.8/GPU 13.4 Marianas CPU9.0/GPU 16.4 Channel CPU 8.8/16.5 Marianas still runs the worst as its the least optimized and has always run really bad even on a high end rig, Channel map whilst the CPU/GPU timings were similar felt smoother. -

You enable Hyper Threading (Intel) SMT (AMD) in your Bios. (Google it) MT is the multithreading that Ed has actioned -

DCS Shortcut used for clarity "D:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR Regarding M/T I saw no improvement, same FPS in all my test missions, HT is enabled in my BIOS, disabling it makes no difference G2 with 4090 64gb 3500 DDR4, 13700K Instant action/Syria/F18 - Free flight 57-60FPS Instant action/Caucus/Apache- Ready on the range 57/60 All my settings the same prior to the update, both missions sit at 55-60 FPS which is the same as post patch Enabling the shadows I now lose only 1-2 FPS, but the game looks heaps better. DCS FPS counter says I'm CPU bound. OpenXR Toolkit was reporting CPU 5.6/GPU 15.8 Next I changed my OpenXR Toolkit settings Upscaling/Sharping from CAS to NIS (CAS look sharper to me so I lost some clarity) Scaling 85% Sharpness 65% OpenXR now reports CPU 5.8/GPU 13.2 and I saw an a FPS jump to 65-70 Using the Plazma torture test mission I can sit at 70+ FPS now CPU 5.7/GPU 11.8 (mission linked here) As soon as the CBUs drop it goes down to 30-35 FPS, once that clears its back to 66+ The Plasma torture test simulates a heavily populated MP server you fly an F16 straight through the action and watch the FPS, its a great test mission tweaking settings for online game play, use the editor to change to the plane you want. My conclusion is not much change at all until changed OpenXR Toolkit from CAS to NIS so the FPS boost was controlled by openXR settings. Im now able to run the shadows again but this was a bug that was fixed. plazma_torture_map_2022_F16.miz -
That's the same as me

@NineLine is there a dedicated Forum thread for MT reporting, I saw you mention reporting bugs to a dedicated forum post but you never linked it

Great update ED and congratulations on rolling out the first beta with M/T, the shadows fix is very welcome indeed along with all the other bug fixes. Tip for VR: this little mod improves performance and visual experience!
Hotdognz replied to Varry007's topic in DCS Modding
A most excellent mod, thanks -
Thanks found it it in the bugs section and so far this has worked

Hi I'm having trouble getting the cursor to move from the LH MFD to the RH MFD, it gets stuck against the side and wont shift across, anyone have any hints or am I missing a key binding command some where, it seems to me it shouldn't be that hard. Cheers
-
Looks like no patch today or its going to be late, hope the news letter has some info on why ED are running late with the last patch as I think that would be a thing to comunicate through to their dedicated and loyal clientele, were now 7 weeks an counting since the last patch.
-
Through every module I try to keep my VA command to things that I think would be used by the pilots voice, talking to George, ground crew, ATC and so on, but I have many button boxes and the Total Controls MFDS and prefer to use them all in VR. Your VA profile sounds very comprehensive, you should share it as many others don't have the time and skill to do what you have done.

I would not in any way believe they would delay a patch 7 days and counting for the F15E release, considering all the fixes that come with a patch each month something else has delayed it, the F15E could be inserted into any future patch as its just a module.

Im hoping for MT, dont really care for much else yet as this year I have decided I'm not buying any more modules or maps until I see some improvements in the FPS and really the ground AI improvements to make helicopters missions more fun without having to trigger the hell out of missions,, some better basic AI ground skills/logic would be very welcome.
