Multithreading Performance is Sensational in VR
Hotdognz replied to Flextremes's topic in Virtual Reality
DCS Shortcut used for clarity "D:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR Regarding M/T I saw no improvement, same FPS in all my test missions, HT is enabled in my BIOS, disabling it makes no difference G2 with 4090 64gb 3500 DDR4, 13700K Instant action/Syria/F18 - Free flight 57-60FPS Instant action/Caucus/Apache- Ready on the range 57/60 All my settings the same prior to the update, both missions sit at 55-60 FPS which is the same as post patch Enabling the shadows I now lose only 1-2 FPS, but the game looks heaps better. DCS FPS counter says I'm CPU bound. OpenXR Toolkit was reporting CPU 5.6/GPU 15.8 Next I changed my OpenXR Toolkit settings Upscaling/Sharping from CAS to NIS (CAS look sharper to me so I lost some clarity) Scaling 85% Sharpness 65% OpenXR now reports CPU 5.8/GPU 13.2 and I saw an a FPS jump to 65-70 Using the Plazma torture test mission I can sit at 70+ FPS now CPU 5.7/GPU 11.8 (mission linked here) As soon as the CBUs drop it goes down to 30-35 FPS, once that clears its back to 66+ The Plasma torture test simulates a heavily populated MP server you fly an F16 straight through the action and watch the FPS, its a great test mission tweaking settings for online game play, use the editor to change to the plane you want. My conclusion is not much change at all until changed OpenXR Toolkit from CAS to NIS so the FPS boost was controlled by openXR settings. Im now able to run the shadows again but this was a bug that was fixed. plazma_torture_map_2022_F16.miz -
That's the same as me

@NineLine is there a dedicated Forum thread for MT reporting, I saw you mention reporting bugs to a dedicated forum post but you never linked it

Great update ED and congratulations on rolling out the first beta with M/T, the shadows fix is very welcome indeed along with all the other bug fixes. Tip for VR: this little mod improves performance and visual experience!
Hotdognz replied to Varry007's topic in DCS Modding
A most excellent mod, thanks -
Thanks found it it in the bugs section and so far this has worked

Hi I'm having trouble getting the cursor to move from the LH MFD to the RH MFD, it gets stuck against the side and wont shift across, anyone have any hints or am I missing a key binding command some where, it seems to me it shouldn't be that hard. Cheers
-
Looks like no patch today or its going to be late, hope the news letter has some info on why ED are running late with the last patch as I think that would be a thing to comunicate through to their dedicated and loyal clientele, were now 7 weeks an counting since the last patch.
-
Through every module I try to keep my VA command to things that I think would be used by the pilots voice, talking to George, ground crew, ATC and so on, but I have many button boxes and the Total Controls MFDS and prefer to use them all in VR. Your VA profile sounds very comprehensive, you should share it as many others don't have the time and skill to do what you have done.
-
I would not in any way believe they would delay a patch 7 days and counting for the F15E release, considering all the fixes that come with a patch each month something else has delayed it, the F15E could be inserted into any future patch as its just a module.
-
Im hoping for MT, dont really care for much else yet as this year I have decided I'm not buying any more modules or maps until I see some improvements in the FPS and really the ground AI improvements to make helicopters missions more fun without having to trigger the hell out of missions,, some better basic AI ground skills/logic would be very welcome.
-
There must have been some serious issues with the March 1st patch that was delayed, no news or updates about it and now 7 days passed the predicted release. Im really hoping its MT as im happy to wait for that a little longer, I really hope it helps all out pilots with VR.

So how did you work out that they will work as a single map in MP ??, both N2 and N 1944 would need to be combined as a single map, which was my original question based on the news letter and this statement from ED, this says to me that both maps must have been stitched together for this to work Having the same 69 airfields on both maps will allow players to share the sky in online campaigns and online missions. Ugra Media has done everything possible to remove any borders between the two maps.
-
If N2 & N44 and going to work online as 1 map then surely they will work offline as 1 map, the mission editor wont be able to distinguish this and in that case there must be 3 maps N2 Separate N44 v2 Separate N2 and N44 combine as per the statement in the news letter.
-
So does this statement mean we can fly from the updated Normandy 1944 into Normandy 2 on a server as a single map ?? The release of the new Normandy 2 map will also be a huge and free improvement to the Normandy 1944 map. This will allow all Normandy 1944 map owners to have all of the Normandy 2 map airfields at no extra cost. Having the same 69 airfields on both maps will allow players to share the sky in online campaigns and online missions. Ugra Media has done everything possible to remove any borders between the two maps.

Hopefully the ground AI get an update, that would be most welcome compared to the turkey shoot we have now. A lot has been promised for 2023 and beyond, we are 2 months in to 2023 with not much happening so far as shown in the current state of the last few news letters with lack of on going information on development of the said promised items.

Next level racing HF8 haptic seat pad & DCS
Hotdognz replied to markturner1960's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have been in touch with them, DCS support is on the list of titles to come but there is no support yet. -
Well its certainly more complicated than the F16 and I'm sure its really way more complicated the YAK52 and that's been in early access since 2018 and I'm still waiting for that to be finished, so I'm standing by my 4-6 years until the AH-64 is possible out of EA, and yes I understand what EA as most of my module are sill in EA
-
Just tried it again after watching the latest videos, my RH disappears and never comes back until I restart DCS, its now back in the box again, as i have found no fix
-
I have no issue with Max settings except the buggy shadows setting and MP with VR, still getting 55-70fps on a heavily scripted mission

It certainly is slow progress and the amount added in Ninelines post when you break them out doesn't seem like much in a year, take out the skins which you could have download from user files so I see no point adding them in as new features. Break down the added features in to sections and only 3 are new systems, the rest are animations and George updates. Added TADS IAT MP sync. Added Multi-Target Tracker ( so far without synchronization for multi-crew W.I.P ). Instruction video. Added Performance Page (W.I.P). Instruction video. Added Pilot and CP/G first person view models with animations. Added main gears collapse into the fuselage after hard landing. Added LODs 3/4/5 for improved performance. Added cycled : NO WPN > MSL > RKT > GUN > NO WPN Total controls MPD profiles added Added new voice messages for George as Pilot and CP/G. Add patches for Pilots. Added new livery Korea Air Force, Egypt Air Force and Israeli AH-64D livery created by ZedTank. Add Israeli AH-64D livery created by ZedTank I thought we may have had the 1200 rounds to replace the Robbie tank, everyone removes fuel anyway so it flies nicer, I thought this would have been an important update But its ED I fully expect this to be in EA for 4-5 years like the F18/F16

I just got a 4090 and 13700k plugged it in set every thing to max except 1 shadow setting and its hitting from 55-72 using the default instant action F18/Syria free flight. No tweaking nothing and man is it smooth

Cool, i Have no issue with them not releasing a date, I will delay my buying until I see a release date and buy it a week before that, purely based on the 2 delays to get a pre order out, I'm sure it will be some time within the next 6 months at a worst case scenario.
