An open letter to ED from a Stable Release Admin
Hotdognz replied to Dangerzone's topic in Multiplayer
ED never officerly respond to post like this, the forum is a user forum to talk about DCS but not really get any information from the developer other than coming soon updates. -
Just an FYI the ATC that Bignew post about for the Super Carrier is not in place yet and has been promised for a while, its still to come and we don't know when, just "soon" is all we get from ED, it could still be a year away.

I was hoping for a patch before Christmas with the FCR and was hoping it would drop Thursday or Friday just gone, I really don't like patches a few days out from the Christmas holidays though as if there are major problems (and we had that happen) its going to be a while until its gets patched again in January. Anyway looking forward to the FCR

Hotdognz replied to specterStudios's topic in South Atlantic
Voted for satellite imagery, this map is so gorgeous now, its a pleasurer to fly it high and low, it is in fact the best map right now in DCS it just needs more towns and citys -
How to reduce the haze on all maps
Hotdognz replied to Kurdes's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Well it does if you dont play on IC locked servers -
This is a big one for me and what I thought would be next Ed module, who will buy it if it cant do simple logistics when its released, waiting for completion could be what 3-7 years based on what's still in EA (looking at you Yak 52 6+ years and counting)

This latest version of DCS has proven to be the most unstable for me in 2 years. Clean and repaired, no mods dcs.log-20231128-100911.zipdcs.log-20231127-094925.zipdcs.log-20231127-093611.zip

Search for Taz 1004 clear glass, he has a fix for it
-
Razbams comment on the SA map were funny in the patch notes. Pity the F15SE is so slow to get new stuff though, and also the AV8B got no fixes again from them.

I understand they are modeling the AH64 data link, what is its used for in the real world Apache, I understand maybe target data, but why would you send txt msgs when you can just use the radio's Now also why would you/I use it in the DCS Apache ??, im at a loss for its use in the game can some one enlighten me why to use it other than just another system to set up as part of it being procedural. Cheers

Curious with the new Data link, if one of my MP buddies sets up a WP he can share it to all of us on the same network in the Apache ??a Sent from my TB350FU using Tapatalk

+1 For all of the above and for it to work 100% with every client, I know its a work in progress but at any point in its development our squad wont move until we know it will work for everyone.

That's because by now most servers will have a Discord community around them and if they did their home work would have had a group of regulars test it as soon as it was out to see if the server should migrate away from SRS (this is what we did with our servers) and by now they would have come to the conclusion its just not worth it at this stage as its very buggy and inconstant, plus the key bindings for it are still not really a mess and don't work as well as SRS, all these issues have been reported and noted by ED, as soon as ED fix all the issues around using it with big groups of players (8 or more) and add all the external items that link in with SRS that the servers will be using also for their player base to use, then I think a lot of servers might migrate to it, but until then its really only 50% there, SRS is 100% there now and gets updated really fast, ED may take another 2 years to sort this one out.

w.i.p Apache (George Pilot) ability to steady hover is very poor
Hotdognz replied to mdee's topic in Bugs and Problems
Same here 2.8 George was ok in wind, in 2.9 he has forgot his flight school training and is useless again -
Dialing back the glare, haze and dust effects
Hotdognz replied to Lasko's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
I get the same, its been a DCS issue for a long time, its worse in helicopters more than planes though and especially the KA50, its a lot more over exposed in 2.9 than it was in 2.8 -
Voice chat issues with transmit and receive audio
Hotdognz replied to RogueRunner's topic in Voice Chat
We have seen loads of issues similar to above posts After more testing we wont be moving to it any time soon until it gets an update again, tested with 6x squad members. 4x F16 had a good test on 305mhz, but the other radio was problematic and very inconstant Squad mate in an Apache tuned to 305, we could hear him, he could hear some of us, couldn't hear me, I then jumped in an Apache then it became very inconstant who could hear wo and who could transmit couldn't hear, in the Apache only 1 of the 5 radios worked as it should. So its very hit and miss at the moment and not worth even trying to get everyone in our Discord group on it as id say there is a less than 30%-40% chance that it will work correctly. So well stick to SRS for now which just works as it should I will say this its nice when it works, the radio effects are really well done and I really like the over all sound of it as a radio, if it was 100% reliable and all the issues and changes are made (key bindings mostly) we would consider moving. It took 2 years from the fist integration of the ED VOIP system and then it sat gather dust, there seems to be a big more thought and effort put it here, I just hope it doesnt take 2 more years for the next update. -
In-Game Scratchpad Mod Available - Works Great In VR!
Hotdognz replied to Fubarbrickdust's topic in Virtual Reality
I have set this up I think correctly, but does it work with the AH64, I saw the coordinates I assigned in the map to Scratchpad being entered into KB in the Apache but didnt have a waypoints on the map display page. What am I missing ?? Cheers -
