Lol. I was just flying on DCS tonight and realized in the options tab that Capto GLove option is available. Sorry ED. You did work on this already.
-
You'll have what you see in your headset displayed on your main monitor in a lower resolution and the same ratio. Nothing that will slow down your rig.

Strange that ED never communicates on this. We always have to find out where their implementation of the touch controllers in DCS are by trying ourselves from time to time. And we even had to figure out how to use them. It took me a couple of tries before I figure out that holding the touch controllers upside down allow to flip the switch up or down (although now it sounds like obvious). The problem I have with the touch controllers is that my virtual left hand is right on the collective when my real hand is holding it (although not very practical because of the shape of the touch controller) but my cyclic control is shorter than the virtual one so it is a bit disturbing to find it, and even harder to hold the cyclic IRL with the touch controller at the same time. Captoglove (when/if it is implemented in DCS) are attractive, but the price is way too high for the additional comfort it brings.

Went from 780Ti to 2080Ti. Used to really dislike VR. Now I love it! DCS details almost maxed out in VR. But 1200$ for a graphic card is a shame.

Simple Helicopter Collective for Fanatec Fans
BaD CrC replied to DEG's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That's a pretty good tip Deg. Thanks. Collectives are so vital for flying helicopters in DCS, but it is such a niche market that they are most often way overpriced and sometimes out of reach for casual simmers. -
Yes and no jimiC. Military are using MGRS for geographic positions, and that's what DCS is for mainly. Latitude and Longitudes in degrees are for civilian air navigation. Granted that MGRS is a lot less obvious than lat/long.

This is real bad. Even the pilots from the cockpit view are all covered with blocky textures. Well, I guess that's the price to pay for flying on a beta. But it's still super annoying.
-
That's annoying. We got many skins for the Huey and they all look wrong now. I guess we'll wait for a fix before renaming all the textures.

I would say most of the MP servers are using the beta version. The release version is generally not significantly less bugged than the beta, it is just taking more time to have the previous bugs squashed in the release version.

Helios 1.4 - Taking to the Skys Once Again
BaD CrC replied to BluFinBima's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Gunterlund21. The problem was resolved by this (great) community a few posts later. Not a problem from Helios but a new default setting in Windows 10 that was forcing a double click when the screen was touched. -
Thanks Eight Ball!They are gorgeous!

Up. Still not resolved in 2.5.4

I am cheating a bit for that. When the ship is getting close to the beach (i am using a unit speed less than), I am activating a group from the beach. From the air, the illusion works.

It's been a topic on this forum for years. ED replied that it would require a complete rewrite of the current code to work. The only thing they were able to do was to load the sound task on another core, but everything else is working on one core.

DCSFlightpanels (DCSFP) thread. Saitek Pro Flight Panels & DCS
BaD CrC replied to a topic in DCS Modding
You kinda have to choose your side here. Having a physical radio stack to manage frequencies in MP is absolutely fantastic, but close to impossible to use in VR unless you can perfectly memorize where are the switches. On the other hand, VR is offering an increase in situational awareness that no monitors can give. The only way for the future is a way to switch from VR to external camera feedback so you can see when looking down your pit and have a full VR when looking up outside. I haven't see anything like this yet. -
Awesome. Thanks Vyrtuoz!

It's difficult to answer the question because there is a million ways to optimize a multi monitor setup. But generally speaking, since you are pushing more pixels through your card, yes, there will be an impact on performances. How much? It will depend on the definition you want to use on your MFCDs and the one for your main monitor. It also depends on the way you are arranging your monitors in the Windows displays settings. You really have to maximize the useful area for DCS to draw pixels and avoid non used (black) areas. Eventually, if the fps is not enough for you, you'll have to work in reduced resolutions.

There are so many thing ED could do for choppers but it is not where the most money is. So they rather put more effort on series of fighters/bombers F14,15,15,18,.... to please the Maverick inside most of us. Winching and fast roping has been made available by the community with CTLD. It still takes a little bit of imagination of course. You don't actually see the guys. There are just popping out of nowhere. I don't know how hard though it would be to do a real animation. I am no programmer. Troop transport exists in game, but MP doesn't seem to like it. Only SP. CSAR operations requires another script. In flight refueling: that would be cool but we don't have any chopper that can do that yet Fire fighting: we have fires, what about water bombing capabilities? Parachute dropping: can be done with a mod but very impractical. How cool would it be to parachute troops for the rear of the Mi8? Anti submarine operations: Would require an SH60 or a Ka27 but wow, who are for torpedoes and depth charges? Sniper operations: an attempt was made by polychop for the gazelle but they gave up. Would have loved it though. Fat cow: Using a helicopter to refuel other helicopters! Real multi crew!

100% Agree with you Whisper. Fixed wing boys will tell you it's different of course, but they are completely lacking the perspective. If you can fly an F18, you will certainly be able to land a F16 or pretty much any FXX at the first attempt. In the chopper world, it doesn't matter how fluent you are on one platform, switching to another one will force you to re learn everything from scratch. You will instantly fall from God to Noob. This is what I call a real difference of flight model.

Thanks Nineline for the encouraging words. But the video is still making us feel like second class. The only rotaries we saw were 2 (most likely) AI Mi-24 in a foggy distance for about less than 1 second and for cosmetic reason. I can tell you I feel really depressed right now. F14, F15, F16, F18,.... great. What's the difference anyway. They are all doing the same. There is so much more to do with choppers, but we have to make do with the only 4 aircraft available...

The total lack of rotaries in this video is insulting to our community. What a sad and uninteresting year 2019.
