OOOO!! a vicarious wish list:) I just upgraded my GPU from a GTX 970 to an overclocked GTX 1080 and I am more than happy with it. However an even better card which comes at a price premium is the GTX 1080 Ti with 11Gb DDR5 ram. 1 less Gb than my current system. If you go to the arming tab in the mission editor and select the mash pod (or whatever the name is) and that makes it into the medivac afaik:)

The latest release version gave me better performance than the previous build. The update was available on Friday to co-incide with the Argo campaign for huey. I was able to increase shadows and actually got better frames with 16Q MSAA and 16xAF with a PD of 1.5 although I used the oculus tray tool to try 2.0 PD which was smooth too. 45FPS steady with these settings although the trade off was medium view distance, but since I fly mainly choppers its not too important. I fly Nevada over 1.5 in sp cause it is so much nicer and optimized, of course when Normandy gets here then I don't imagine I will fly anywhere else :) Oh and for me shadows give a much better experience

My i7 failed too but it still worked fine TBH don't be too put off but see if anyone is running with similar specs to you:)

I have personally not tried PD of 1.0 its normally at least 1.3 or more since my upgrade. The WWII servers have a good way of using labels IIRC but they are just dots that get smaller as the planes get nearer (I think thats how it works) but it works well for the rift at least spotting planes, you still need to get close to identify them

I have no working knowledge of AMD hardware but DCS likes fast processor and the rift seems to like lots of Vram and a good GPU. I have just stolen my son's i5 as it is newer than my i7 920 and replaced my GTX970 with a 1080. My point is once you get VR you will likely want to do some upgrading to get the best out of it even if it runs ok on your machine. VR is so addictive and immersive that you want to squeeze the best performance possible;) There is also an oculus app to check on system compatability https://support.oculus.com/1633938460220125/
