  1. The real life huey pilots I fly with are happy with the flight model. Thats good enough for me, though they do say the N2 droop is more like the kiowa than the Uh-1h
  2. I use the inner and outer beacons during IFR approaches. The benefit of being able to tune 2 different freqs and flipping between the 2 allows this and should with practice get you lined up on approach by switching too the pretuned inner marker as soon as the outer marker is in visual range. I have always enjoyed the intricacies of navigation in DCS and now with the rift it feels so much more natural to use the navigation suite especially the doppler system
  3. I actually thought things where smoother for me especially in 2.0.5 I figured it was the latest ED patch. It was always fine in 1.5.5 but it may be marginally better. So hard to tell:huh:
  4. If I had your rig then I would expect to get max FPS with everything maxxed out in the settings. I keep tweaking my system settings to try for the best I can get from my rig. To be fair it does remarkably well for such an old CPU. My haste for a new upgrade has declined slightly when I see how well comparatively it copes with DCS versus newer machines. Control + number pad 1 iirc disables ASW and may be a thing to try as that will stop oculus wasting frames and locking you to 45 fps
  5. Hey Mustang, great textures thanks. I have used your mods since you made the HAS interior but these textures are the dogs bolloxs cheers for sharing:)
  6. I am wondering if I am setting my options too high. 1.8 PD 8X MSAA 4X Anistropic filtering No shadows High Textures and Terrain Textures Medium civ traffic Visibility high No shadows no blur I get nice enough frame rates, 45fps except over big towns. Do you guys use shadows?
  7. Hey mate, I just tried the new cockpit mod from Pato and I felt like I had borrowed someone elses chopper. Quite Bizzare:D
  8. If you dont need trim then don't use it. The trim in game is designed for generic joysticks with spring centring. Your lucky enough to not have to use it. I went from stiff warthog to 15cm extension and the big spring removed so was like your setup in that regard. It makes for much smoother flying and I never found any difference when changing the settings from trim to no trim and no ffb options
  9. This is my current one made by Sleipner but it ain't got scantily clad ladies;)
  10. Very nice
  11. The dude abides. When are they releasing the bloody gunfighter:doh: Actually it can wait another month, I have my eyes on a Kaby lake and associated upgrades;)
  12. Definitely, I would love to catch up:)
  13. Hi Mule nice to see you still simming :) If you can OC your CPU a wee bit it will help. More ram and at least a 970GTX will be biggest benefits:thumbup:
  14. Loads of tips to help get the best out of the system, relax and read up on it instead of "the end of the world is nigh" posts. Try loosing the shadows as a first step. I have an antiquated rig that performs very well with the rift. Oh and the default refresh rate is 90 FPS for the rift, it defaults to 45FPS by virtue of ASW
  15. Hi mate, yes I have to agree it is a marvellous thing to behold in the rift;)
  16. I just spent 2 hours as observer/Air mission commander in the gazelle with my chauffeur/pilot. First time doing it in the rift, it is amazing:thumbup: and the best thing is the intercom works in simple radio too:)
  17. Thank you great write up as always Beach :)
  18. 701:thumbup: Now you will all get to see my lambing night shift photos too;)
  19. I have heard that the Rift is better than the Vive for DCS, I only have the rift and cannot make comparisons. There is the start of price reductions and someone posted a link to one for £500 which is down £50. I love the rift and would not be without it now for flying. I dont imagine CV2 will hit the shelves this year though I ma be wrong. FWIW get a rift and you will not be disappointed:)
  20. I fly with real huey pilots all the time on the 229th, as well as kiowa, Gazelle, Uh-60 and AH-64 pilots, they are fairly unanimous in the praise of the flight model. I actually find it easy to fly at 40 knots and less at various heights. I also don't find it easy to enter VRS in the huey. But that is only my view and I agree that EGT damage should be modelled. Can we agree to disagree on this one Ebabil:)
  21. Good plan, I was meaning to do that when I replaced my last pump but the best laid plans...........That will be on the to do list when I start the upgrade, I can live with the algae for another couple of months:)
  22. The only thing necessary IM(humble)O is multi crew. Everything else that could be developed, like fire fighting or animated passengers will I believe have to be ED led. But I may be wrong. As far as the huey flight model and usable systems I think its about perfect:thumbup:
  23. Do you have a spare machine to fly on while your waiting?
  24. Nice I am sure that will keep you entertained for hours :) Thanks for the clarification
  25. I believe that if you run the exe from the root directory after you transfer the files to the new machine it will add the appropriate file structure in your newuser saved games folder. Bare in mind that only the free modules will be available to your friend unless he purchases modules you cannot use the same module serial on 2 machines
